Puzzle Box 4

Here's a random idea... is MS affiliated with any virtual reality worlds like Second Life? The phrase "Physical presence not required" still lingers with me, and it seems out of place. If "physical" presence isn't required, maybe it doesn't exist in the physical world or conventional maps. That would explain the weird, exact precision (to the hundredths) that aren't common in cartography. A world like Second Life wouldn't have a traditional lat/long grid.

Also, in a video clip posted by someone a few pages back, talking about the Vanishing Point Game at CES apparently, the guy being interviewed mentions that the winner will win a trip "to the vanishing point to see the ultimate vista". Would that imply that the "vanishing point" is outside the world? Maybe the idea of the vanishing point is a series of vectors drawn on the globe that all point to a specific place that would appear in space to be a "vanishing point" if looked at properly.

I'm throwing around ideas here... we're running out of leads!!

Hmm... Arkansas or Mississippi :s What we need is something that makes the line straight :D I'll try to figure out some more coordinate math maybe...

From the map it looks like the destination is important rather than the route.

Has anybody tried using Roman Miles (TALIN -Latin clue)

A unit of distance called a mile was first used by the Romans and denoted a distance of 1000 (double) steps (mille passus or mille passuum) or 5000 Roman feet, and corresponded to about 1618 modern yards[1]. Our current definition of a mile as 5280 feet (as opposed to 5000) dates to the 13th century, and was confirmed by statute in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I; the change was needed to accommodate the rod which (as opposed to the mile) was a measure ensconced in legal and commercial documents.

They keep adding clues, I guess they want someone to win pretty fast. So do I, every clue screws me up even more.

I was reading the official rules and according to them the whole thing is over tomorrow sometime. They will make the drawings on the next day but they do not differentiate between the drawing and the name on the processor as far as the end date to the event. They have to get someone to guess it. If they are puting up clues that would suggest no one has yet and they obviously need to help us because we are spinning our wheels. They obviously thought it was easier than this so my bet is that we are overanalyzing it.

OK FEW UPDATES!!!

1. Smallest Places --is a LINK..click on that...and thanks to JanderNZ we already have an image in Comment # 1706

2. Someone on my forum had a good insight...I will quote him here " Quote - (BoomBoom @ Jan 29 2007, 12:22)

Here's my guess based on previous anagrams, puzzle parts and ideas that all of you have supplied -

Remembering the Rabbit puzzle was Presto, lead to someone saying Change-O

change an "o" to an "d" in "Odessa Oblast" = last dos based

I'm betting the answer is "Last Dos Based Windows", which is vanishing with the introduction of Vista.

Comments? "

3. Someone had pointed out that after submission, the page is signed L.O.K.I. seperating each letter by a period. DEFINETLY four different words. May not be an answer, but may be a further clue.

4. On the map, the last destination, according to some forums, turns out to be Isola, Mississippi. or Insula in LATIN.........

5. Perhaps "LATIN" is what stands for "L." in "L.O.K.I."...ANY THOUGHTS??? :)

I can finally add something to this discussion. The X on the map points to Hardee, Mississippi. I have been in this genera area for quite some time, but not this exact location.

What relevance this has to the final name, I?m not sure yet. Hardee is in Issaquena county, but this is the only relation I can find. How does TANLI play into this?

Is Hardee the lowest we can go in terms of the location? The emphasis definitely seems to be on the small aspect.

Quick Note: The L.O.K.I. seperation by dots suggests that its their names. They also have 4 majors: History, Math, Physics, Drama Queen" (as they said in video).....L can stand for LATIN (History)...and so on....

ALSO NOTE** LATIN does not necessarily have to be latin...it also may be TALIN, a city in the former USSR

As far as Live Maps go, yes I believe so. I was looking for famous people that lived there and trying a whitepages lookup of residents. Not much found thus far though.

I need to know how you found that. What could you have used to find that? amazing....

I don't feel too bad now. I thought I was way out to lunch...I was only off by 100 miles (over towards Shreveport).

    • Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is getting a simultaneous release across PC and all consoles by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Square Enix showed up to the Summer Game Fest presentation today with multiple trailers showing off its next chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga. The final chapter of this trilogy now has an official name too, with it being dubbed Final Fantasy VII Revelation, following up Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth from recent years. Vincent Valentine, Cid, Cloud, Barret, Tifa, and more showed up in the trailers as they battle against enemies, or 'Weapons,' from the final chapter. "As the world teeters on the brink of annihilation, the final battle against Sephiroth begins," says the trailer description. "A meteor mars the sky, monstrous planetary guardians wreak havoc across the globe, and the fires of war rage. Now, Cloud and his companions must stand against this chaos to not only decide the planet's fate, but bring a legendary conflict to its conclusion." Following the reveal trailer, the show also dropped some gameplay footage that shows off a new way to travel across the open world using the Highwind airship. Players will be able to swap characters on during battles, use tactical mode to synchronize with allies, and summon their entities. Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine are joining the party this time too. “FINAL FANTASY VII, first released in 1997, has been beloved by fans for many years and has since become a “legend” in its own right," added producer Yoshinori Kitase. "The FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Series that began in 2020 with everyone’s passionate support is finally reaching its climactic finale with FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION. The story’s final destination represents my emotions spanning thirty years working on this title" One of the biggest revelations of this announcement, however, was the multiplatform release confirmation from the get-go. Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy VII Revelation across PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 in Spring 2027 without any timed exclusivity programs.
    • Hello, Having a simple utility to allow Microsoft's customers to configure the context menu, with a few options like showing the current menu, showing a proposed menu/alternate configurations, loading and saving the settings, and a "reset to default" option would have solved this. Let Microsoft provide a recommended default look-and-feel, maybe a couple alternative configurations, like a basic/simplified version of that, and a more advanced version for that, and that would have been very well-received, I think. Microsoft could even had offered a library of different configurations, similar to what they have done in the past for Windows Media Player skins, Themes, and desktop wallpaper. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • No Steam release. It's gonna fail on PC. Even an Epic Online engineer said that people go there for the free stuff and then immediately go back to Steam.
    • Nice. Admittedly, his other games never interested me, but this seems pretty cool.
    • It's time to say goodbye to Edge and switch back to Firefox. There's no way to disable the ugly rounded corners that appear everywhere. Not even on the page frame. No one uses screens with rounded corners, you idiots.
