I can finally add something to this discussion. The X on the map points to Hardee, Mississippi. I have been in this genera area for quite some time, but not this exact location.

What relevance this has to the final name, I?m not sure yet. Hardee is in Issaquena county, but this is the only relation I can find. How does TANLI play into this?b>

Like I said, I was in the general vacinity.

I mapped all of the coordinates very precisely using Windows Live Maps. I chose Live Maps because it?s an MS product and you can measure a distance down to 1/100th of a mile, coincidently the same precision we are given in our distances.

I end up at the Arkansas/Louisiana boarder (within yards), by using AMD's headquarters as the starting point. I felt very strongly about that starting point and just searched the vacinity. It only took about 2 minutes once I saw the picture. I'm glad I could help!

It just seem so strange that your first post to the forum was the exact location on the world map of a clue that was only given minutes beforehand.

welcome aboard....

Seems kind of "coincidental"! Didn't Loki originally post to this board in the beginning to keep us on track? Who is ftp222?

I think we need to stay focused on this: &q...What relevance this has to the final name, I?m not sure yet. Hardee is in Issaquena county, but this is the only relation I can find. How does TANLI play into this?".;.

(sorry about the quote thing- maybe a MOD could clean this up? I'm not the best at that...Thanks

It wouldn't be too far fetched to think that someone from MS is monitoring the major forums for this game and giving more hints based on where we are. Or they are time releasing the clues as no correct answer has been given yet. Which also means, that if you submitted prior to the last clue, you submitted wrong.

Here's a random idea... is MS affiliated with any virtual reality worlds like Second Life? The phrase "Physical presence not required" still lingers with me, and it seems out of place. If "physical" presence isn't required, maybe it doesn't exist in the physical world or conventional maps. That would explain the weird, exact precision (to the hundredths) that aren't common in cartography. A world like Second Life wouldn't have a traditional lat/long grid.

Also, in a video clip posted by someone a few pages back, talking about the Vanishing Point Game at CES apparently, the guy being interviewed mentions that the winner will win a trip "to the vanishing point to see the ultimate vista". Would that imply that the "vanishing point" is outside the world? Maybe the idea of the vanishing point is a series of vectors drawn on the globe that all point to a specific place that would appear in space to be a "vanishing point" if looked at properly.

I'm throwing around ideas here... we're running out of leads!!

Just my opinion, but I believe they added that "disclaimer" if you will, to keep people from showing up...wherever "up" is, and going on a wild goose chase. I can imagine some fanatic, spending his/her money, showing up at the end point and wreaking havoc with the locals trying to find the last piece.

I assure all of you that I do not work for MS, AMD, or 42 Entertainment... although it would be fun. If I did work there, I would not be handing out clues on a website, I would be laughing at all of us trying to solve this puzzle :)

Back to the issue at hand, we still have not figured out how TANLI fits into this puzzle. This has to be the key to finishing this.

I know how frustrating it was. I think this would have been impossible had they not given us the map. I used Live maps and mapped everything out down to the 1/100th of a mile and was still a ways off. Since there is no way to gaurentee you are mapping dead east or north/south (no way to verify a level line), you could try all day and not get the same results. I resorted to zooming in and out and holding a ruler up to the monitor.

I wasn't having much luck zooming around the planet. I have no idea what other cities were passed through.

I used CAD to draw true orthogonal lines and then got the x and y distances from Mystery Spot, CA to where my line ended. I then found a nifty tool on the web that let you put in pt A and Pt B GIS coordinates and it would calculate the distance. Trial and error from there to get the right distance to work.

Kudos to you for finding the spot.

Ok, her map is at Hardee, MS - Use goggle maps and 32? 35' 35 N 90? 51' 18W as the location and you get it.

Ok I got that from what has been said here. If you look at the google maps screen and blow it up some, you see

"Hardee" exactly where she has the X on her map. It's exactly on HW 61.

So what is this telling us? My head hurts - and it's all MS's fault (Awsome game though!)

TANLI can mean two relevant things: 1. LATIN, 2. TALIN--city in former Soviet Union, now Latvia.

If you want to waste several hours (like me), you can zoom in really far, then to make sure you're going straight, move the scratchpad right underneath your line. Then you just move the mouse to the edge of the map, and keep moving it until you get to the correct distance. I was off by about 3-4 miles when i got to the last location, but still reasonably close. I'll try to post a link (but the live maps sign-in thing isn't working for me)...

Here's the list of locations as far as I can tell though:

1. Mystery Spot, California

2. Los Marismas, Spain

3. Tomhaggard, Ireland

4. Warsaw, Poland

5. Szynwald, Poland

6. Niederroden, Germany

7. Ittireddu, Italy

8. Blandinsville, Illinois

9. Hardee, Mississippi

OK...

When you go to the live maps area of hardee there are two specific views where in red letters Issaquena appears, issaquena is a anagram for AQUA SINES, so i look for latin words for water that start with an I.

In the list i found a word for water that means a part of. and clicking in my head was #4 saying she is tired of being 1/4th.-- ictus , a, um, Part., from ico.

the word was ictus, and thats what i had put 10 mins ago but now im torn between ictus and ibis
