Microsoft admits Vista is a failure

Recommended Posts

I know alot of people beleive Vista is absolute &$^$ and are sticking with Windows XP, but for me Vista is an improvement and I cant see whats wrong with it. Yeah its not as ground breaking as XP was in the day,but it has some cool stuff under the hood and has some potential down the track.

Of course, you do realize that The Inquirer is recognized around the world as a bastion of accurate & honest reporting.

In other news, Borat announces that he'll be running for President of the United States of American in 2008.

In Sports, Manchester wins the FA Cup.

i dont see how Vista is ME II, nor did Microsoft mention that anywhere.

I tried ME, and Vista is way better than XP in my opinion. better in stability, security, convenience, features, functionality, and soon full driver support.

Besides, I work at Best Buy and when customers come asking for XP, the only reason I heard so far (from over 50 customers both home and business) that Vista might be different and hard to get used to. Once we show them Vista hands on and few of its features, they walk out with it.

So the Inquirer says something and that = Microsoft ?

Considering Dell reported that they had totally underestimated the demand for free vista upgrades under the express upgrade programme and that stores like Best Buy in the USA said that they'd also misjudged demand - losing out to stores that had maintained enough Vista PCs, I don't think that Vista has been a failure at all.

The Windows XP offer from Dell is only to keep those on board that are too scared to change anything.

I dont see microsoft saying it is a failure but the inquier is right about that it isnt as great as Microsoft wanted to be. I am an IT guy and my compnay isn't going to switch anytime soon. This choice is not only made by me. As an IT guy i say no but my users asswell. And we are not the only company not planning to switch.

Vista is off to a slow start in terms of vendors getting of their collective asses and making drivers and software that officially work with Vista, but thats it.

I'm using Vista Ultimate right now, and its an awesome OS. Much faster than XP, and far less buggy, crash prone, and far safer. XP is a patchwork OS, with a dated security model and wasnt designed with the latest core due processors etc in mind.

XP was great in its day, but its definitely had its day. Vista is here now, and provided vendors start taking notice and providing drivers and software for it, it will be awesome.

That article is BS btw. All they've done is take a few news stories and formed their own opinion based on them. It is totally worthless as a news source.

Couldn't say it any better (Y).

Vista Ultimate X64 rocks!!!! The problem with Vista is that is not the OS the problem is the third party applications that their developers are so lazy to make it Vista compatible but the OS is awesome!!!!!! no problem so far here!!!! I am really happy with vista.

Any time soon means what I can guarantee when you start upgrading workstations you will make the leap and that when you have 1 or 2 users running vista others will follow. It's a really good OS that is finally getting stable drivers. After getting service pack one we will be pushing it hard, as a support company for about 1000 SME's. It is always going to be a bad idea for a buisness to jump onto a new OS in the first six months as their will inevitably be teething troubles but vista is a really good step forward that is long overdue, forgive the pun.

Vista is good but i feel its not that stable......for time to time right click doesnt work in IE7 and somehow it stops working everywhere desktop, explorer etc.....ive to shut IE7 down to make it work properly again.

Also every now and again the dreamscene video stops playing .....have to bring up dreamscene panel to choose a diff video to make work again....stupid things kinda annoys me

Well dreamscene is in beta, so give it a break. As for the right click issue thats more then likely to shotty mouse drivers that your manufacture has to fix....

    • I recommend checking to see if your UEFI/Bios is up to date.  It took me a while to find the product / support download page. https://test.colorful.cn/en/home/product?mid=84&id=937 Bios Update Guide - https://endownload.colorful.cn/EnDownload/MotherBroard/2022/BIOS update guide/BIOS update guide.pdf
    • Calendar management with the new Outlook is horrendous! Things I can do in one or two clicks in classic take 4-5 in the new version. Sometimes I can't even find the same options I had in classic.
    • 10 games join Xbox Free Play Days this weekend by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Another Free Play Days offer has just landed, and this one is a unique one. On top of offering 10 games to jump into for Xbox players, all the titles are from a single publisher: No More Robots. The promotion has games like Little Rocket Lab, Spirittea, Descenders Next, Let's Build a Zoo, and much more. Almost every game in the selection does need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscription, so keep this in mind when browsing. Many of the titles are Xbox Play Anywhere titles though, so both Xbox console and PC players can jump in. Here's how the announcement blog post described some of the available titles: There is one game that's available to all Xbox players without the need for any subscriptions, which is Descenders. Here are the announced games and the platforms they are available to play on: Little Rocket Lab (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Spirittea (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Soccer Story (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Descenders Next (Game Preview) (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Let's Build a Zoo (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Hypnospace Outlaw (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Nowhere Prophet (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Family Man (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One) Descenders (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) To easily find the titles on Xbox consoles, first head to the Store, then in the sidebar, find the Home section. In there, open the Subscriptions tab. The Free Play Days collection will show up in this area. This week's Free Play Days promotions will end on Sunday, June 7, at 11:59 pm PT.
    • It STILL has horrid theme support. Hard to look at for me. The white is too bright, and the black too dark. I'm using classic outlook for the Dark Grey theme. It's just right for me.
