Coolme
It doesn't matter who's fault it is that some devices aren't working well in vista, users will still ditch vista, that is until everything works. So Microsoft should at least pressure hardware companies or do something about this issue, standing by the sidelines will not make the situation any better. Because the only company that's hurting from this is Microsoft. At the end of the day, people are more likely to ditch vista and take full advantage of their hardware than suffer from reduced hardware functionalities and keep vista. KeeperOfThePizza
I doubt "Microsoft" would say such a thing, But there is room for Improvement. gigapixels Veteran Posted April 26, 2007 Veteran Share Posted April 26, 2007 It's funny to see all the ms fanboys deffending Vista but most "regular" consumers are hating Vista. I did tech support and i remember the endless calls we use to get about customers asking if they could get rid of this Vista and get regular XP....and I would tell them to call their OEM (even though they won't do anything.....I was doing tech support for an ISP so we didnt do that) Many people are scared of change. Those of us willing to actually embrace it and learn it are the ones with no problems with it. I was a technician at Circuit City up until a month and a half ago and while I did have customers that complained I had a good amount that were actually excited about it and loved it. It all depends on how you're predispositioned to technological change. You think Microsoft is sitting on the sidelines? You can bet your arse MS is giving Creative hell behind closed doors. riahc3
Where and who said the quote that Vista is a failure? In the article, nowhere do I see written a direct quote from somebody. If you tried Vista, you will never go back. ScottKin
OK Vista is not like ME at all. It's stable, and it works ok. But it's not amazing or great.I actually find idea of Microsoft using the "Wow" starts now as a dodgy campaign. After reading iWoz I realised that the whole "Wow" experience was Steve Wozniak's catch cry and I think it was unfairly used by Microsoft. The problem with Vista is that it's got plenty of problems, drivers, interface "wtf's" and general bugs (http://www.vistasp1.net/). There is also disappointment with the bundled apps such as Windows Mail, Paint etc. And that to ship Vista Microsoft cut features right, left and center. So overall Vista does feel like a ME V2. Enough so that I feel I wasted money upgrading hardware just for Vista. It's just not worth it. I took a look at the website you referred to - and just chuckled for 15 minutes while I scrolled down the list. I chuckled not at the KB articles referred on the page, but the simple fact that clearly 90% of the KB articles listed fell into one of two sets: Set A = Problems related to hardware without sufficient drivers from hardware manufacturers Set B = Problems related to Upgrades from XP to Vista with insufficient hardware drivers. What even made me chuckle more was the number of KB articles related to "hibernation" wake-ups - which were clearly due to either incorrect or questionable implementation of ACPI funtions on motherboards or "Wake On xxxx" devices. Blaming Vista's stability on 3rd Party hardware drivers is like blaming a Car manufacturer for problems with an after-market Stereo system you installed in your car: Its utter NONSENSE. Microsoft only provides minimal functionality drivers for any OS they sell - it's 3rd Party's responsibility to provide for new drivers in a timely manner, and if they didn't provide anything beyond core-level functionality it makes no sense at all to blame the people at 1 Microsoft Way in Redmond, WA for system stability problems caused by faulty / dodgey drivers from other companies. Now, in regards to features being cut-out of Vista: Yep, there were a few - but they had excellent reasons to be cut. WinFS, for one, was slid-over to the Server group to be used in SQLServer - which actually is a much better platform scenario to be implementing WinFS at this point in time. Other things changed along the way, like GUIs, how the Sidebar appeared, etc. If you would like to see a video of a few of the UI changes to Vista that were thought-up during the desing process, you can download this WMV file: http://s88283487.onlinehome.us/vista/LHconcepts.wmv --ScottKin Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/555601-microsoft-admits-vista-is-a-failure/page/6/#findComment-588510632 Share on other sites
srizo
LOL.ill get vista when i know my pc can run it at 100% and when better drivers come out. What better driver!??? Right now the video card driver performence for both ATI and Nvidia are on par with Windows XP. Maybe in 6 months time i can see the vista drivers out perform XP drivers. As for non-video drivers; vista provides everything you need and if not most of the Companies do. I have yet to find myself looking for vista drivers for specific drivers. If you are having problem finding driver then its either A. Whatever you are using is too old B. Company is too lazy to make because the product is unpopular Vista is better and i dont believe that its another Windows ME. .Ark
.. I wouldn't call it a Windows ME II Anyone who calls it is a total idiot and Adrian Kingsley-Hughes from ZDNet just posted the most retarded article. No matter who he works for, CNN or MSNBC or ZDnet. What he said seemed like something to get attention. Clearly, Vista's sales have boosted Microsoft's profits and saying that Vista = ME2 is total stupidity and ignorance.
