It's going to be Nadal and Federer again, with Federer having more advantage on grass. I'd be more interested in the competition going on in the Woman Singles though.

I wouldn't put all my money on another Nadal/Federer Final. Nadal has Youzhny in his quarter of the draw (Youzhny has always given Nadal trouble on the faster surfaces) as well as Berdych, two players that have always consistently given Nadal trouble.

As well, if he does make it to the later rounds, theres always 2 time champion Hewitt in his half of the draw as well as the newcomer Djokovic which defeated him in the spring on hard court at the Sony Ericsson Open. With all due respect to Nadal, although he is one of my favourite players, his road to the finals last year was not as "busy" as it is this year. There were many upsets in the earlier rounds last year although his victory against Agassi was promising last year.

As far as Federer goes, I really don't see anyone in his field giving him a tough time on grass, not even Roddick. Time and time again, the media has speculated whether Roddick can actually finally close in on his 1-13 gap win/loss to Federer and time and time again, Federer has tamed Roddick to a mere plain and normal opponent. The only possible person that could pose a risk to him would be Nadal or Hewitt and that doesn't look as likely this year compared to last year.

BTW, great to see a Tennis thread finally! :) my favourite sport. Woot!

am i right in saying that moya was seeded 20th and henman wasnt seeded at all, everyone knows that henman doesnt stand a chance but he might get quite far this year, if he keeps playing good

Yeah Moya was 25th its a great win...I really hope Tim gets far this year

This is just stupid now. How hard is it to just put some form of roof over the main courts. It's very anoying that they allow this to happen.

They don't need anything special, just some big posts in the ground somewhere and stretch a roof over, something that looks like the dome.

Some info about the new wimbledon roof. If they get round to doing it.

A bit more info here.

How quickly will the roof be able to close?

In about 10 minutes. This compares to the 90 seconds it takes to close the retractable roof over the main court in Halle, Germany.

So players will still have to leave the court if it rains?

Yes. Officials intend to use traditional court covers to protect the grass while the roof slips into place.

So even after the roof has been closed, play will not resume for up to half an hour.

So it is not the end to rain delays at Wimbledon?

No. And it is only Centre Court that is getting a roof, so play on all other courts will still be affected by bad weather.

With 650 matches to be played every championships, there is still the chance that Wimbledon could overrun into a third week.

less then 10 minutes? what they using to power it midgets?

With a modern weather system they should hopefully be able to move the roof in advance so no play stops.

    • Google's new AI tools are actively hunting and fixing critical cyber vulnerabilities by Paul Hill Google’s AI agent “Big Sleep”, which was launched last year to search for unknown security vulnerabilities, has uncovered multiple such vulnerabilities since its launch, the search giant revealed. Most recently, it discovered CVE-2025-6965, an SQLite vulnerability which was already being exploited by malicious actors. This is the first time that an AI agent has directly intervened to stop an in-the-wild exploit, Google believes. Google said that Big Sleep has also been deployed to try and enhance the security of widely used open-source projects. The shift to using Big Sleep to deliver proactive vulnerability prediction adds another tool to the arsenal of those fighting threat actors. Aside from some of Big Sleep’s latest achievements, Google unveiled some new AI capabilities it has been working on to boost defenses. One of these is Timesketch, an open-source digital forensics platform that’s being enhanced with agentic capabilities powered by Sec-Gemini. This tool will be able to automate initial forensic investigations to speed up incident response. Google also announced that it will demonstrate FACADE (Fast and Accurate Contextual Anomaly Detection) at Black Hat in August. Google has been using this tool internally since 2018 to process billions of daily security events to identify internal threats without needing historical attack data. As part of the announcement today, Google revealed that it’s donating data from its Secure AI Framework (SAIF) to accelerate the work of the Coalition for Secure AI (CoSAI), which it helps to set up. This donation will help with CoSAI’s work on agentic AI, cyber defense, and software supply chain security. Additionally, Google will unveil the winners of the AI Cyber Challenge with DARPA at DEF CON 33 next month. The challengers will show off new AI tools that help to find and fix vulnerabilities that can secure major open-source projects. Hopefully, all these efforts will translate into a safer digital landscape for everybody. Image via Depositphotos.com
    • Grounded 2, Robocop, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and more coming to Xbox Game Pass by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe It's the halfway point of the month, and that means it's time for Microsoft to announce more games for its subscription services. The second wave of July for Xbox Game Pass is carrying some major releases, including Obsidian Entertainment's latest game, Grounded 2. The co-op sandbox is releasing into Game Preview on Xbox and PC. 505 Games and studio Leenzee's latest Soulslike experience, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, is also a part of the latest Game Pass wave too. Alongside it, other hits like RoboCop: Rogue City, High On Life, and Farming Simulator 25 are landing during the rest of July too. Here are all the games Microsoft announced for Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud Gaming today: High On Life (Cloud, Console, and PC) – Available now RoboCop: Rogue City (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) – July 17 My Friendly Neighborhood (Cloud, Console, and PC) – July 17 Back to the Dawn (Cloud, Console, and PC) – July 18 Abiotic Factor (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) – July 22 Wheel World (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) – July 23 Wuchang: Fallen Feathers (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) – July 24 Grounded 2 (Game Preview) (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) – July 29 Farming Simulator 25 (Cloud, Console, and PC) – August 1 From the bunch, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Grounded 2, and Wheel World are all day-one drops, meaning subscribers will be gaining access to the trio the same day that they land for those who purchase the games. As new games arrive, three will be leaving the programs soon. This means Gigantic, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Turnip Boy Robs a Bank will become inaccessible to Game Pass subscribers on July 31. With this bunch of games out of the way, expect the next Game Pass announcement to land in about two weeks, which should cover what's incoming in the first half of August.
    • Back in my Best Buy days during Black Friday we would make trails for customers to follow, we called it hurdling the cattle. The hospital I work for has some weird partnership with Disney, there reps would call our patients “customers”.
    • A good sign is that Supergirl filming has ended and it is now in post-productions; editing, visual effects, etc. Such an extended period improves the odds it'll be a quality production. The cast is good, so we're down to the script and direction.
