January Desktops of 2003

Here's my first desktop ever for the Neowin boards...(if you have a good connection I recommend you check out the full size version here, since my desktop is at 1280x1024). I've gotten a lot of inspiration from these boards...I hope this inspires someone!

What do you use to get that area at the top where it displays the system stats and docking bar? Is it two seperate programs or one?

Yes, I found that one. But about the bar at the top like the ones on the Mac's...are there a million programs that do this or is there a best one?

Those are two separate programs. There are several "dock" bar applications out there, and I only started using it this week. I'm running Stardock's beta ObjectDock, which can be downloaded from here. It's a little rough around the edges as far as the configuration goes, but it looks like it's on track to become a solid product. The stats you see are from Samurize. I have messed around with several desktop-monitoring programs and I like that one the best. The Neowin News feed I have is an add-on available at their site. You can do all sorts of cool stuff with it; it's much more flexible than CoolMon, IMHO. Plus a hell of a lot easier to use.

And I'll just say it now in case someone asks--the theme I'm using is a *slightly* modified version of the great QuicksilverR; I just replaced the Apple logo on the start menu and made the window titles left-justified rather than centered.
