I converted the code from VB 2005 to 2008 and might have lost some settings in the associated xml/manifest/security settings that go with the app - not very sure about all that tbh. Does the error appear every time you start the app, do you have all the latest .NET versions and service packs installed?

Sofar I have found no problems with it I have even cleard my games folder and started again to put it to the test and all works well I especially love the steam ID thing as this was the main problem I had with the older versions!!!!!!

This is a great welcome thanks for that!!!!!

The only thig I would change/add if possible is the ability to auto fill the fields from allgame.com but this could be rather hard to achivie as the layout of allgame.com would course problems, but hay thats just a feat I would like cos i'm lazy lol

I have created the following web page for you and others who are new to the VGEE concept:

http://vge.editor.googlepages.com/legacygames

Hey, nice program... It is working quite nice over here. The only problem I have is that when I try to run the game, it will only run the one I used to make it (I used SWBFII to make a new icon for Supreme Commander, but when I click to run the game, it will only run SWBFII).

Does that always happen? Or am I doing something wrong? Please reply as fast as you can :)

The MCE functions are already built into the EE code thanks to Julius

On a side note, I have discovered that you can use these 'run' commands to access VGE-related stuff quicker (in some instances):

shell:games - Opens the VGE

shell:gametasks - Opens the C:\Users\profile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\GameExplorer folder

(Full list: http://computerperformance.co.uk/vista/vista_shell.htm)

Great idea, but I just can't get this to run. I've read over the guides you posted and tried adding Quake 3 (pretty old) and some other games that do not automatically go in VGE (CoD4 and Team Fortress 2), but VGEE will not run (no games found) and manual edits to VGE just make the original entry disappear.

It's probably one of those famous "P.E.B.K.A.C." errors, any tips?

Try the C++ 2008 x64 version?

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Make sure there's nothing related to .NET Framework in Windows Update aswell.

i've installed C++ 2008 x64 version. I've the same error when starting the app:

System.NullReferenceException: Referencia a objeto no establecida como instancia de un objeto.

en VGEE.frmMain.frmMain_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)

en System.EventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, EventArgs e)

en System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnLoad(EventArgs e)

en System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible)

en System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl()

en System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmShowWindow(Message& m)

en System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m)

en System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)

en System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

Any other ideas? Another question, where can i download a dummy game to create the shortcut?

regards,

Maybe there's an issue with you using a Spanish version of Windows. VGEE was initially made with VB .NET 2005 Express - but I converted the project to .NET 2008 Express when making version 2.15. I'm not sure if all the security settings (certificates, manifest files, etc) were carried over properly (since my Windows security is mostly disabled, I use Comodo IS).

On another note, you may have already heard that Google Pages will soon be no more. My various sites hosted there will be moved to Google Sites. This may mean that all the links to the project will no longer work - and the built-in Update-Checker will likely cease functioning. When that happens, I'll release a patch , version 2.15a or something, to address the second issue.

    • While I miss Outlook for a couple of small things, I use Thunderbird now because I don't like how MS wants to force you to change things.
    • Chrome has history of being the browser everyone uses because Internet Explorer sucks, not realizing that Edge changed that, but people got into the habit of using Chrome. I use Brave and I've never been happier with a browser. It does what it is meant to do and gets out of the way.
    • Wino Mail -> Microsoft Outlook (the new one). Link: https://github.com/bkaankose/Wino-Mail Just sayin.
    • Microsoft launches Godot Sample to streamline Xbox PC game development on the engine by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft today announced a new endeavor that aims to make it simpler for Godot developers to get their products into the Xbox PC ecosystem. Dubbed the "XBOX Godot Sample," this is a new public reference for developers using the open-source engine. This is set to serve as an example of how Microsoft GDK, Xbox Services, and PlayFab can be integrated into their projects. The sample is available now on GitHub as a working example. This covers key features in gaming projects that developers may need to release their projects on Xbox PC, with everything from matchmaking and game sign-in to gamepad compatibility with Godot being covered. This release is being called the first step in giving Godot developers the tools to bring their games over to Xbox PC, with more changes to come based on feedback and issue reports. However, the company was clear that this is not related to bringing Godot projects to Xbox consoles. The engine's open development model stops it from accessing console SDKs due to the requirement of NDAs and legal contracts. Here's how it explained this Godot sample project's focus: This is a source-only sample, not a product. It's MIT-licensed at the wrapper layer; the GDK and PlayFab dependencies still require their own installs and license acceptance, consistent with our other XBOX samples. There is no set update cadence for support or maintenance. We’ll watch the repo, monitor issues, and iterate where it makes sense, but this isn't a commercial release. That said, we’re excited to hear your feedback and see any community PRs, as we evolve this together. This is the first step in bringing Godot for XBOX on PC. We plan to evolve it over time based on what the community tells us is most valuable. This sample is built specifically for XBOX on PC. It doesn’t include support for XBOX Series X|S or XBOX One. If you’re already building for XBOX Series X|S or XBOX One, please talk with your XBOX representative. If not, you can get started by signing up here. Game developers can find the XBOX Godot Sample by heading to GitHub over here. Documentation on how to get started with Godot for building an Xbox PC project can be seen here.
