Does anyone know what the portable vacuum thing that Miles used in the boy's room was or is for? Was it just a prop to help "sell" his talking to spirits or does it do anything?

Also, I have no idea why a group consisting of a pilot, physicist, anthropologist and ghost whisperer would be sent to the island. Do you think Miles would be able to talk to Jacob?

I'm sure it was just a prop.

The team makes sense if they were trying to restart the DHARMA Initiative. But they are just there to capture Ben, it appears. Unless they think capturing Ben is the key to restarting the Initiative.

..he can't seriously know about Jacob?

It stands to reason that if it is DHARMA pulling their strings, they would at least be aware of Jacob.

Or maybe they sent Miles to simply find out what exactly happened to DHARMA in the first place.

Another thought: What if the 'they' that Abaddon was referring to when he asked Hurley 'Are they still alive?' wasn't the survivors but these four newcomers?

Ooh and further, what is the deal that the Oceanic Six had made to not talk wasn't with the newcomers as we all assumed but with the Others and the other survivors...

Argh I hate watching things episode by episode.

That's why I loved it when I finally got hooked on Lost and season 1 & 2 were out on DVD and 3 just starting - I could fire through them all

Same with things like the Wire and Oz, they had numerous seasons out when I heard about them so I could sit and watch multiple episodes.

So heres a discussion topic. As far as I remember, this was the first time we've ever been told on screen exactly where we were. The locations given were:

Essex, Mass

Inglewood, California

Eleuthera, The Bahamas

Medenine, Tunisia

Now, if you draw connecting lines between those, you end up in the Bermuda Triangle, off the coast of Florida. According to Google Earth, the spot is roughly at the point where the Solid Rocket Booster collection point is for a shuttle launch.

Interestingly enough, the antipodal point (exactly opposite on the earth) is just off the west coast of Australia.

Very interesting indeed! Is there a site that shows some images of this? I'm feeling lazy myself... :p

As episode pointed out, probably just a prop. As for Jacob, that would probably depend on whether Jacob is dead, since Miles can communicate with the dead, but it would be interesting to see what would happen.

Why he would use those four, we don't know. We know Miles can communicate with spirits of the dead, while Charlotte has some kind of DHARMA connection (she specifically looked for the logo on the polar bear remains). As for Dan and Frank, not sure how they would fit in the equation, but Frank was supposed to be the pilot on 815, while Dan was weeping when the fake plane was found, so he has some kind of emotional connection. I'm sure we'll eventually see how they're connected, just like all the survivors have had connections.

I'm sure it was just a prop.

Yeah I haven't thought about that, that dude is creepy as G-Man from HL2 :p

The previews promised another Oceanic Six reveal next week, but we will also learn about another major main character who's out in the world in the future, who doesn't fall under that banner. Who is that person? The end of this ep pretty much gives it away.

Remember the headspace Sayid was in at the beginning of the series, where he was gonna go straight and not torture people anymore and try to play nice with his fellow man? Well, in the future, that's all shot to hell. Emphasis on shot.

When I caught up tonight with Jeff Fahey (Frank the kick-ass "drunk" pilot), he told me what the fans have accused him of being God, Satan or some dude who's there to impregnate the women on the island. And the clincher? He hinted that one of those is true. What the hey? For more gorey details on that, check back next week for the video, but in the meantime...

Very interesting indeed! Is there a site that shows some images of this? I'm feeling lazy myself... :p

If you just take my word for it that the point is roughly off the coast of Florida, toward Bermuda, you can use this site:

And that will show you were the opposite location is.

I agree!!! my wife and I have previously avoided LOST while it was on TV and then just waited a year for the DVD's. But this strike shortened season we decided to watch it live. It's terribly frustrating.. Next year im avoiding it again.

I wonder when the Temple will come in play...remember Ben told Alpert to take the others to the Temple.

If we only have 8 episodes this season, i reckon that will be season 5.

If we only have 8 episodes this season, i reckon that will be season 5.

We'll get more. Lost is to popular for ABC to cancel the rest of the episodes and considering the strike will be over by next Wednesday (no later than), I'm sure they'll be back filming as early as 11th :)

Yeah I want more Temple and Feet Statue! (no fetish!), theres so much I want to see really...more Stations as well, but I doubt we will see the Temple seeing as Richard Alpert took them there and he is taking a sabbatical from Lost atm.

in what this show has become?. GHOSTBUSTERS!. haha. I know this show has been recorded about a year ago, but to "Daniel", this is NOT Solaris (a good movie, btw , I recommend it), this is a bad show with no script at all. You dont need to show your potential in here. I know you are in only 3 episodes (probably a couple more) but come on. I cant believe this actor sign on this.

Oh, from Locke to Ben:

-"What is the monster?"

-"What??"

-"The black smoke!. The monster!. What is it?!!"

-"I dont know"

ROFL. We dont either and we can live with that. Well, at least the 1% of the ppl who watch the show. Now explain that to the other 99%. They have a lot of theories. All valid. HAHA.

W.T.F :|

I know about ten people who hate the show, but when they are over and i am watching it, then cant take their eyes off my TV. They still say how stupid it is but why are they so interested... i find it funny.

It's because it's the type of show there are soo many questions to be asked, and the answers themselves can be speculated into being just about anything.

That fuels massive discussions and theories, and then it also fuels the desire to tune in and see the next episode :p

The only problem with Lost and that is, you finish one episode with 2 questions, wait till next week and instead of coming away with your questions answered, you come away with 3 more unanswered questions

I do fear the finale of lost, im just worried it won't end great - Or end in a satisfying way :/ Anyone else worried about the "ending" ?

After you watch, are there spoilers?

Here's a recap:

* The show's wardrobe department keeps at least a dozen versions of Jack's classic blue T-shirt. Sanchez chose that shade of blue because he didn't think that Jack would wear a "happy" color.

*

Sanchez introduced fans to Lulu, the set dog. Lulu has appeared in several Lost episodes, including scenes set in Nigeria. She is also the dog in the infamous painting in Jacob's cabin.

*

Believe it or not, Miles' costume was inspired by Keith Richards.

*

The vest-hoodie that Miles wore in "Confirmed Dead" was originally an Armani Exchange jacket. The sleeves were removed, and a hood was added.

*

When Jeremy Davies met Sanchez for a fitting, he was wearing a skinny black tie. Sanchez liked the idea of Daniel having a costume that mixed "edginess" with a more traditional academic look, so he used the tie.

In next week's podcast, two cast members will discuss "The Economist." Check back here for another recap!

    • Salesforce to acquire Fin, formerly Intercom, for over $3 billion by David Uzondu Image via DepositPhotos.com Salesforce today announced that it has reached an agreement with customer support software company Fin to buy the company for around $3.6 billion. Salesforce expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2027, and the acquisition will not change its financial guidance previously announced on May 27. Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, in its press release, claimed that acquiring the startup gives Salesforce an immediate AI agent that resolves support tickets across email, WhatsApp, SMS, and Slack: You might know Fin by its former name, Intercom. If you have ever been on a website or inside a mobile app and noticed a little chat bubble widget floating in the bottom right corner of your screen, often featuring a friendly face and a message like, "Hi! How can we help you today?" you were almost certainly looking at Intercom. Intercom became Fin just last month, transforming itself into an "AI-first" platform that handles customer issues with little need for humans to intervene. The new name originates from the company's highly successful AI customer service agent, which it launched way back in 2023. This digital assistant supposedly resolves about 76% of customer service volume end-to-end on its own, so the business rebranded to match its primary software tool. Fin's new owners, Salesforce, went on an acquisition spree over the last few years, and some of them you might recognize, like its 2020 $27.7 Billion acquisition of Slack. The last few months saw the enterprise giant buy several startups, including m3ter, Momentum, Cimulate, and Contentful. Salesforce said that when the Fin deal pulls through, customers will "deploy AI agents across" various service operations, which will complement Agentforce, the platform that enables businesses to deploy customizable autonomous digital workers.
    • Microsoft now allows you to tweak Visual Studio to new extremes by Usama Jawad Visual Studio 2026 recently netted a powerful feature that finally allows developers to review Git Pull Requests (PRs) directly in the integrated development environment (IDE), without needing to switch to the browser. However, that's not all that Microsoft introduced in the latest version, as it also offered a useful way to customize the IDE to their heart's content. Although Visual Studio 2026 already provides lots of stock themes based on Fluent Design principles, Microsoft understands that people still want to customize them further according to their preferences. The IDE now offers a new configuration page for themes under Tools > Options > Environment > Visual Experience > Theme colors. This allows you to set hex color codes for accent colors, hover states, and more, and apply them without requiring a restart. The Redmond tech giant further says that: Microsoft is also offering granular color tokens that allow you to customize various UX elements like the tab header without impacting the rest of the shell chrome. Your themes are also stored in JSON format in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\18.0_xxxxxxxx\ColorThemes, which basically enables you to share it with others or override existing themes. This is a major improvement in terms of the user experience powering these customization capabilities. This is because extensions were required to replace the theme, and it was not very easy to make minor adjustments. This theme configuration UX solves this problem and is available in Visual Studio 2026 version 18.7, available here.
