Interesting Popup, never notice it before - In 2000 movie Frequency there is also a Jack Shepard character!

A rare atmospheric phenomenon allows a New York City firefighter to communicate with his son 30 years in the future via short-wave radio. The son uses this opportunity to warn the father of his impending death in a warehouse fire, and manages to save his life. However, what he does not realize is that changing history has triggered a new set of tragic events, including the murder of his mother. The two men must now work together, 30 years apart, to find the murderer before he strikes so that they can change history--again.

lol so true... What a fantastic episode!!! One of my fave's since.... well, as long as I can remember. I don't know in the short term how much it relates, but obviously its going to be a huge episode come the future.

Wow so uhh.. great episode. The use of 'the constant' between Des and Penny was extremely well done and summed up their relationship very well.

I guess Minkowski isn't Ben's man on the boat, since he's dead and he obviously didn't open the door. I'm still betting that its someone we know.

But the time thing on/off the island is rather odd.

How can time pass differently on/off when the time is the same on/off. The date (Dec 24) on the boat is the same as on island. So time only passes differently when you're going to/from the island?

Next week's episode looks amazing.

Almost all of the character names are taken from somewhere else.

For instance, take Locke. However, I'm pretty confident that the 'Shepard' part of Jack's name was what they wanted to emphasize, especially considering that Jack was to die in the pilot originally. He would have been the person to 'lead the flock' onto the island, and would have died with that purpose fulfilled.
