I agree what we see now in Season 4 is what its gonna be like in the future so if you don't like it now then you will probably hate the rest of the series.

Seriously dude, lost season 4 has been so ****ing **** what the hell you on about, the only great episode was the last one. The Sayid episode was the worse one by far and the rest have been dire.

That is definitely not true. Season 4 has been the best season so far and it only keeps getting better. I loved Sayid's episode, it is my second favorite from this season so far (The Constant being the best).

At this point in the season, compared to season three, this season is far superior IMO to season three. I hated the beginning of season three, it was slow and didn't progress very much at all. I would say season three sucked up until Not In Portland, that's when the season took off.

Okay - I have a theory I wanted to run by you folks. Could some of the scifi elements on the show be explained by a black-hole-like phenomenon - but with electromagnetism? Black holes show how extreme gravity can play hell with time (since it is relative - time slows down the closer you get to the black hole). With some allowances for bad science, it would explain why 816 and the other planes and helicopters went down, plus it would explain why there is only one heading to get off the island.

Think of the island surrounded by these giant overlapping fields (bubbles? spheres?) of extreme electromagnetism. The Dharma folks might have created them as a defense perimeter. The island itself would be in "normal" time, but anyone trying to come from outside to the island (or leaving it) would cross the fields and be affected. If you're in a plane or helicopter - everything goes haywire and you crash. If you are in a boat (Desmond, Minkowski & friend) you would be going slower and would be in the field longer so you would end up with major brain problems (going crazy, consciousness time travel). Both ways of passing through the field would experience "delays" in time - similar to anything that passes too close to a black hole - they think one hour goes by normally, but anyone outside has experienced a whole day. It would explain why the test rocket from the ship was delayed in reaching the island. The only way to get to and from the island would be the submarine - which can go underneath the effect of the magnetism - or by traveling on this one single heading (boat, helicopter) which leads between two fields that are not quite overlapping enough - sort of like a valley between two mountains. They would still be somewhat affected by the time delay but it would not have enough of an effect to bring down the helicopter or boat (Michael?). The only thing I can use to explain why the sat phone is working is that the satellite is directly overhead so the signal would not pass through these electromagnetic fields when going from boat-to-sat-to-island and back.

I don't feel like I explained it very well, but this is as close as I can get to explaining the concept in my head... I fully expect to be attacked and beaten from all directions - but I still think it is worth talking about.

I thought Season 3 started slow because we were on another Island with the others and we hardly saw the beach folk and I think that made it very boring but the great thing about this season is we are getting answers (and more questions!) and the action is getting better.

It's also not listing September, in which, assuming this calendar is marked for the days that have passed since the crash, would include the 22nd through the 30th. It's possible that those are days since the boat has sailed, though that seems like an awful long time to sail (though by admission I really know nothing about it).

Yup, I added in those days to my count, which is why it starts with 10.

I had the same thought on the colors. If they weren't significant in some way, they'd be all black.

One thing I'm thinking that if there IS a time-shift, the 'timeline' we have would be wrong at some point. So maybe the days on island all need to be shifted -1 to match up.

one of my theories is...

There is a hatch we dont know of that generates an electro-magnetic "bubble" around the island, the thunder cloud they flew through is a gap in this bubble, so when frank went off course slightly the excess electro-magnetic radiation set desmonds "time traveling" off, same with mikowski
