I already Answered you on that!

I think it's interesting to see other characters on the Island. Who they are. What their life was before the island. Are there employees at Best Buy? Target? Are there artists? singers?

What they do MAYBE Boring, but doesn't mean an episode or two shouldn't explore them!

If you care to watch a show that just explores boring characters, then Survivor is your show. No one else cares if a character worked at Best Buy, how the hell does that advance the story of Lost at all? If the character is boring and doesn't have anything to offer to the story, then no they don't deserve to have an episode or two to explore them. That isn't what Lost is about. Each episode, each scene that we get, we get for a specific reason and Nikki/Paulo had no reason. They were dull characters when they were in the background and they were dull characters when they were in the foreground, hence the reason why they are background characters to begin with.

Changing the formula of a show like Lost is never a good thing and that's exactly what the writers did with these characters. If they had written these characters like they had Arzt in Season One, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal because Arzt advanced the storyline, but Nikki/Paulo didn't. They didn't deserve the time they had to begin with because they had no story.

Why don't we have an episode about the janitor on the boat or in the mental hospital Hurley's at too? That would be great. Or maybe one about the doctor that birthed Ji Yeon? We don't need to find out information on every character we meet or see for a reason, they don't have a story.

Actually, if you want to get technical. Nikki DID advanced the storyline, it was her that led to the discovery of the Patchy!

How do you figure that? The only thing Nikki does is suggest that the monitors are viewing the other Dharma stations, as smart as Sayid is, he could have figured that out on his own. In fact, it is stated in the Pearl Orientation video film that station is a monitoring station, so she in fact did not discover Patchy, that would have been the person who fixed the monitors, Sayid. And furthermore, by the time they really discovered Patchy it was Kate, Sayid, Locke and Danielle, not Nikki.

Again that's like saying the doctor who birthed Ji Yeon advanced the story and we need an episode on his background and what will happen to him in the future.

If you care to watch a show that just explores boring characters, then Survivor is your show.

Quit that! :|

You immediately accuse me that Lost may not be my show, when I think that way... *Sigh*

As I said, I Love Lost, for it's Intelligence and everything that you all like, but Not every episode need to be great, or characters need to interest me! One or two unintersting characters, Big Deal! What matters most is the show Great overall? Yes! So one or two uninteresting episodes means very little to me for me to complain about them or want these uninteresting character dead! That's what's called Nitpicking and I don't like that attitude!

Like Smallville, like Heros, like X-files, DON'T expect Every character/episode interesting! Cuz it's an unreasonable expectation! The Mentality that every episode you have to like is Unreasonable, and VERY selfish!

That isn't what Lost is about.

What is Lost about? Huh?

One of the things Lost is about is that people in the past that have issues, done wrong, etc that's why they end up on the island.

And Nikki's (And Paulo) backstory is they poisoned a rich man to get $8 million worth Diamonds. Kinda interesting? Not interesting? I mean, who is to decide?

I know there are A LOT of fans that also liked these characters a lot too! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17857782/

Plus, if you noticed, most of these characters ALSO have connections to each other in past life! The writers did NOT get to explore that because of the Hatred on these characters.

The Bottomline is like this article well said "People hated the characters before they even opened their mouths because it felt like they were crashing the party"

You're looking at it wrong though. Everyone else's backstory has lead them to the island for a purpose. Nikki/Paulo's story didn't lead them to the island for, well any reason. Hurley and the numbers, Jack and Ben's surgery and the fact that Jack's father can be seen in the cabin (confirmed on the last official podcast).

As you stated, it doesn't matter how well the characters are liked, that isn't a reason to keep them or kill them.

The reason to kill them was that there story was over, just as Libby's story was over when Michael shot her. In fact, Nikki's story was no story at all as she didn't offer anything to Lost. She offered looks and that's it. She was neither a protagonist (such as Jack, Kate, Locke, Hurley, etc.) or an antagonist (Ben, Charlotte, Daniel, Juliet, etc.).

Just because they're a character doesn't mean they deserve a backstory. I just don't get why you can't understand that. If those characters were never introduced, would the story be any different? If the answer is no, then they don't deserve a backstory.

Like Smallville, like Heros, like X-files, DON'T expect Every character/episode interesting! Cuz it's an unreasonable expectation! The Mentality that every episode you have to like is Unreasonable, and VERY selfish!

Every episode has to be interesting, it may not be as exciting as the previous episode, but if it isn't interesting, then the show will die. I'm a writer, I understand writing. I've take countless writing courses in both high school and college. I get that not every person is going to be as excited about every episode. But they should all be interesting. I hated Eggtown, but I understand the point of Eggtown (it advanced the story). Expose didn't advance the story at all. In fact, when I re-watched the season three DVDs, I skipped it and guess what, I didn't miss a thing. Why? Because it didn't advance the story.

This is what I really don't understand!

No, I disagree I don't think every episode has to be Interesting to you (or me)! The Majority of the show is Great that's WHAT matters. (Then NO the show WON'T die) And, if you are at a stage where Majority of episode just sucks, then I recommend the best thing to do is for you to Stop watching it all toether (Like episode's attitude about Smallville)

Let's also not forget audiences have Vast difference in personalities and tastes. What may NOT be interesting to YOU, don't mean it isn't to another viewer!

Once again you try this, as you tried to do multiple times with that stupid Smallville poll. When you have FANS calling something bad, you did it wrong. Even if its 25%. Or 20%, as it was with your Smallville poll (55% if you include the 'just change it a little' vote)

What does the headline say on that 'Lost viewers are divided'. Yes. Rappy hasn't seen it. Lots of others say it was absolutely terrible. Etc. I personally found it to be the worst of the series, but it wasn't like a 0/10 or anything like that. But it had no point whatsoever.

Also, the story you are talking about is only commenting on doesn't really fit your point. There are 11 quotes on the page. Only 2 are favorable. And both of those are suspect. One calls it 'A+' and says that hes glad it wrapped up in one week. Obviously not a Lost 'fan'. The second said that she thought Pablo was hot and that she was happy she wasn't confused. Not exactly the target audience for the show.

Want to try again?

Want to try again?

Forget it! I don't think we will ever Agree. We'll just :argue: to no end here like in the Smallville thread between you & me.

I think the bottomline is, people all have different POV about everything. You feel every episode MUST be interesting, well I don't I am more forgiveful/Less Nitpicky!

Okay... let's now focus on this Now.

Plus, if you noticed, most of these characters ALSO have connections to each other in past life!

These connections one of most interesting aspect on this show. In their flashbacks, we see these characters in the Background. And their connections to the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42

Will we ever learn what they really mean? (Some of their connections, I suppose we already got answers)

But, majority of episode this season are Flashforwards.

Jack - Kate

Jack - Hurley

Hurley-Charlie

Hurley - Sun

Kate - Aaron (Claire?)

Sayid-Ben

Freight people - Charles Widmore

Plus there was also an episode of Juliet, the Freight people (Flash Backs)... do you think/Notice they have connections to the other characters (like 815) we know?

I think the bottomline is, people all have different POV about everything. You feel every episode MUST be interesting, well I don't I am more forgiveful/Less Nitpicky!

It doesn't have anything to do with nitpicky. And if you ever take a creative writing class, you'll learn that every episode of a TV show has to be interesting, it has to hold the interest of the viewer, otherwise it will lose the viewer.

And the bottom line is that simple fact Nikki's dead. So the argument is moot.

Yes I think it does, BUT...

Look I am Offering to quit arguing, so... you really don't want to me argue again, do you?

Talk about Connections in THIS season(and maybe even LAST season too), I think that's a better thing to talk about than Arguing (Where we all just have different perspective about it so we CAN'T agree about it no matter what!)

And its moot too.

Is there a connection between Food Supply drops and The boat?

No the food supplys were for the Swans Habitants while they were doing their testing they knew there were still testing so they sent food once the Swan imploded the food stopped.

No the food supplys were for the Swans Habitants while they were doing their testing they knew there were still testing so they sent food once the Swan imploded the food stopped.

Well, Funny that Season 3 DVD the creators said that Food supply issue is STILL a mystery, though! They said it hasn't been answered, yet.

So, check it out!

Didn't Locke take orders from Walt? Couldn't be on the boat that way.

Walt have psychic powers, it appears.... Like he appeared to Shannon/Sayid

I purposely haven't been reading this thread this time around because I was worried about spoilers. However, the last episode (I just watched it last night) was ****ing amazing. I am happy that he may not be dead though, I could definitely see him as being stuck doing what Sayid is doing... I could also see him sacrificing himself to help the others (Sun) get off the island. Anyways, one of the most emotionally affecting episodes of lost I have seen in awhile. This season has been amazing.

I believe Jin is dead. The emotion that Sun has when present Ji Yeon to her father is way to deep for Jin to be alive IMO. Maybe Sun doesn't know he's alive, that's a possibility, but I think he's dead.

On another note though, Miles tells Kate that they (meaning the boat people) know everything about Flight 815, but if that were true, then how come no one has noticed Kevin Johnson is really Michael?

Her words were chosen very carefully. It was 'I really miss you'. Not 'I can't believe you're gone'. Also, the whole part with her 'seeing' him during the birth and her calling out for him. Very similar to people 'appearing' on the island. Now, we've seen those people that appear both be alive and dead, so that doesn't clear it up by itself. The date on the tombstone is another thing against him being dead. Like I've said before, it would have been easier to explain that Jin died in the months since the crash and not on the crash date with the baby's conception date being after the crash.

On another note though, Miles tells Kate that they (meaning the boat people) know everything about Flight 815, but if that were true, then how come no one has noticed Kevin Johnson is really Michael?

I think he meant that they knew everything about Kate and what she did. Good point though. However, it stands to reason that if Ben has the resources to get a plane, fill it with bodies and sink it, he could have had any record of Michael (and Walt?) removed from information about 815.

I'm not convinced that Ben organized the faux plane. I'm not saying he isn't connected to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone else, someone higher than Ben. Obviously there's an organization behind Ben, where else does he get all those funds.

Maybe it was Ben's idea, but I don't know yet. I'm just not convinced it was him. Regardless, it wouldn't be easy getting rid of paperwork that showed Michael and Walt was on that plane. Does Ben have those type of connections and if so, that means he has government ties as well, why not just use those ties to get rid of Charles Widmore?

    • I think every American should have a course in a 'dry sense of humour' at school; and perhaps 'using sarcasm in jest' oh, and also 'the use or irony in humour'. Slapstick is just about all Americans can understand. It's a pity, as this is the most basic of humour, that requires no thought at all. It's hilarious to watch a whole room collapse with laughter while yanks sit scratching their heads...
    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
