Fantasy Hockey Season 2007-08

lol, thanks for the heads up. I am completely unfamiliar with how a lot of this stuff works. So in other words... I really need a goalie.

The problem is that you have one and half goalies (a #1 goalie and a backup). Some people may have 3 legit #1 goalies. That's a big difference.

You need to ensure that you get three goalie starts in each week. Sometimes, you can do that with only one #1 goalie but you would need to closely watch it other weeks.

Surprisingly they even gave me the victory in the shutout category even though I had zero. They counted your goalie scores as less than zero. Harsh.

Before I closed my StatTracker applet (that was running for days), it showed Pascal Leclaire as being benched yet I was sure that i activated him this afternoon (from another computer). The key item here is that he got a shutout against Buffalo.

I attempted to close the StatTracker applet and reopen it (in a mild panic) but it did not open to anything other than a blank page.

I don't seem to be getting all the scores on the "My Team" page either but at least it shows Leclaire as an active goalie with Toskala riding the bench. That gave me a bit of relief.

Edit: It was a web browser problem and not a Yahoo problem. StatTracker is working properly now.

Hey Fred, I saw your message about making this a keeper league, but unfortunately Yahoo doesn't do keeper leagues and I think the turn-over of managers from season to season is too great to keep a consistent keeper league going should we decide on running our own. It's also a lot of work on the commish to set up the rosters for every player.

I'm in a Yahoo league that's set up as a keeper league. We host a draft on the forums which takes roughly 2-3 weeks by the time it's done, and then the commish has to set up each team's rosters.

I got screwed by goal tending this week. Hopefully my new acquisition of Lalime will get me some more starts. I heard something about Khabibulin not playing quite as much this year. But yeah I went up from about 8 1 to a tie at 5- 5

Goalies are key in this being worth up to 4 points at the end of hte week. I got slaughtered in my first two weeks because i didnt have enough goalie starts, same with the week before last. I finally have consistancy now with Garon and Hedberg, and Huet usually pulls in some good numbers. Lalime is free I believe...

I just grabbed Manny Fernandez since he is expected back within a week or so. His salary is 4x that of Tim Thomas so he should take over the #1 spot eventually (or so my thinking goes).

This may mean that Vesa Toskala is available but I may wait for a better market on him.

^^ Don't be so sure. Thomas is playing very well (4th in GAA) so Boston might want to stick with the hot hand for a while, i mean, look at what happened in Colorado when Theodore was brought in.

Boston is such a historically cheap franchise that it would probably kill them to pay a starter to just collect dust. I expect TT to get a lot of starts but I think that Fernandez will, at least, share the starting duties.

Lets hope, for my sake at least, your wrong.

In other news, Havlat returns to the Blackhawks lineup and promptly get two goals. Im happy with that :)

So says disgruntled Leafs fan who traded Tuuka Rask for Andrew Raycroft ;)

Tim Thomas is injured enough that the Bruins went out and got Alex Auld to backup Turka Rask while Manny Fernandez completes a reconditioning stint in the minors.

Based on that bit of information, I am prepared to make Vesa Toskala available (and use Manny F.) or make Manny F. available (and stick with Vesa T.)

It seems I may end up with a useful part after all.

    • Carol, Windows XP is still being used today only in a small capacity. It is still the best OS there is due to its backwards compatibility with other older software, the customization features, and friendly UI, and people often feel that upgrading to newer OSes is cost prohibitive in specialized Industries or developing countries, so the market share as of now is around 0.2%-0.3%
    • If I could, I would commemorate it the best way possible: Replacing old machines that are still running Windows XP with something more modern, stable and better.     Noone and nothing should be running Windows XP in 2026.
    • Google's new hand-wave reCAPTCHA can be bypassed with a stock photo by Ivan Jenic Image: Screenshot Google is testing a new reCAPTCHA method that asks you to wave at your camera to prove you're human. So, besides solving puzzles and reading distorted text, you can now use your computer’s camera to pass the verification test. When the hand gesture verification is triggered, your browser asks for camera access and prompts you to perform a simple gesture, like a wave or an open palm. Google says it records a short video of the movement and uses AI to extract 21 hand-knuckle coordinates to complete the verification process. The video is then immediately deleted, and Google swears it doesn't keep it. The process alone can be uncomfortable for people who wouldn’t want their biometric data, which hand scans technically qualify as, recorded. But it gets even more nuanced, as early testers discovered that the new hand-waving reCAPTCHA can be passed with a simple stock image. A user on X tested the new challenge using a stock image of a hand fed through OBS Virtual Camera, and it passed. I wanted to verify it, so I tried the same thing. It took me a few tries and a few stock images, but in the end, I was also able to pass the test. I simply had to readjust the stock image of a generic person waving inside OBS, and Google’s mechanism registered it as a legitimate hand gesture. Once again, it didn’t even have to be a video or an AI-generated hand animation. Given the simplicity of the process, the entire action can be automated in minutes. All it takes is a simple Python script to render the new reCAPTCHA method obsolete. And it doesn’t even have to be an AI bot, which is usually used for solving puzzles and other verification methods. The new reCAPTCHA method is still in its early phase, and Google will, hopefully, update its AI to at least reject still images. However, this incident, combined with users’ initial skepticism about Google’s practices regarding user data, likely won’t make too many people wave at the camera anytime soon.
