i think the show would've been a lot better storywise if they had actually written it all out and divided it into seasons/ep instead of trying to take it somewhere and then tying it up somehow. i used to watch it religiously and then gradually lost interest once there was so much mythology and other crap involved that even stretched the boundaries of sci-fi. a couple of annoyances off the top of my head being:

- jor-el is dead, yet clark and him communicate like they're talking on the phone and he's alive and well. he's not god.

- clark's clothes...sure, he's a farmboy, and the colours are superman colours...but c'mon.. he's not superman yet, and even as a farmboy, i'm sure he can afford more than a pair of jeans, a blue shirt with a red jacket on top. or is his whole wardrobe filled with just that?

- many of these characters that were introduced such as brainiac and all that should have been *AFTER* he became superman. i mean...given that they've practically introduced everyone in the superman series already, what's left for him after he puts on the cape?

- tom welling's acting. i'll probably get flamed for this, but looks/build aside, i find his acting to be a hit-and-miss. he gets it dead-on in some episodes and in others, it's just crap. cliched dialogues never help either.

this series had SO SO much potential by picking such an unexplored time of superman's life but they completely killed it for me. instead of stretching it to 7+ seasons with ~21 hour long episodes, if they had made a mini-series out of it with even smaller episodes however befitting to a proper storyline and what not, i think it would have been much much better.

the only thing i like about this show is lex and lionel.

The show is Over. Done, after he dons the cape in Smallville.

That will be the series finale, which I have reason to believe will be a 2-hour special too.

Again, guys watch YOUR expectation. Be Realistic! The producers has said over and OVER that this show is not about Clark flying or putting on cape the until the last episode(s).

I acknowledge the last episode was sort of disappointing, I DO, but it's just TOO early to judge it bad. I mean A LOT of you guys are just so pre-judgemental that is the problem!

This is an episode that builds to something BIG, I think... well hopefully that the Season Finale will BLOW us away!

If the last 5 episodes are not good, then I WILL join you in complaints, believe me.

However, to complain before I see the WHOLE picture is really pointless and impatient like I said. This is a TV series, not a Movie, it's IMO ABSURD/ RIDICULOUS to expect awesome episode every episode! It's an Unrealistic expectation!

Sure, the next 5 episodes will be utterly important how good the show really is, but I have FAITH. You don't, that's OUR difference!!!

I cant believe that some people are saying that the last episodes were really good... I've been watching smallville since season 1 and I think that the last three episodes were the worst episodes ever made. I think they are running out of new ideas. Clark is freaking still glued to the ground and apparently afraid of heights.

I thought he learned from the last season that there will be consequences if he does not finish his training in the Fortress of Solitude, but there he goes again waisting his time around and fixing his barn, while evil Lex is plotting his next evil skim and Brainiack is trying to get Zod back.

And now although we all know that Layno has been brainwashed by Jorel and that he is his voice, noone listens to what he has to say....

I mean come on! Go and freaking learn how to fly, finish your training in the fortress of Solitude, and then get rid of the bad guys. Seven seasons- Seven years, and he is still stuck in the barn making pancakes and feeding the horse. Isn't he getting a bit to old? When does he start to fly and when does he get a job in Metropolis as a journalist.

It's seems like WB is milking this show to the last bit.. Why cant they just go to the next step of Superman's evolution and dont ruin a great show they use to have with having a repetitive episodes with shallow scripts...

I can't understand how people CAN'T comprehend producers said that Clark WON'T be flying or putting the capes on Smallville until it's about over. They been saying that since first season of the show... AND YET people still want that BEFORE the last season?!! :rolleyes:

Comon, YOU people let YOURSELVES Down by expecting that but producers has always said "Not gonna happen" since day ONE!!!

I mean judging by the last two episode titles which I posted earlier, I think Clark WILL go train, but as far as flying I DON'T expect that at all!

Sure it Wasn't Awesome Awesome, but at least I think it's all building up to a Bigger plot to come in the last couple episodes of this season, WE SHALL see if it's really good or disappointing!

ONE of the things I agree with you is WB trying to drag this show on, that is pretty evident! However, enjoy it while it last! It only have one more season left, so like it or not, it's gonna end soon anyway. No amount of complaints will bring Smallville back after next season. :p

You have episodes that completely lack of action where there should be some action, and where Clark should be smart, but he acted stupid. I understand the frustration of this... Clark is slow but I think this will be the last time Clark stand there looking stupid.

With Lana like that, I think it symbolism for Clark going to let her go, and Fullfill his destiny in the upcoming episodes.

But they haven't leaked any spoilers about the finale episode yet, though. So it's hard to say if I am right.

As long as it ends up great, it doesn't matter one of two episodes was disappointing, I really don't mind that at all

I will of course post the Season Finale spoilers as soon as I find out about it.

I am with you people, I love to see a Big bang in the finale but I have Faith!!!

We're not prejudging an episode that has already been aired. We're judging it after the fact. You yourself just said it was disappointing, but then say it's too early to tell. It's not to early to say the episode was disappointing, because it's already been shown to us.

This isn't a movie that's being aired on tv, it's a show, with episodes.

If an episode sucks, it sucks. I'm not saying this was horrible, but the writers own rules and stuff are annoying. The major headline of last episode was that kara was going to teach clark how to fly... that was what, a 30 second segment with nothing happening? I mean really...wtf

The show is going slow and it's annoying. some people can wait and hope that the next episode will be better. I admit, i liked the last episode, the ending was good, but there is so much more that can happen... they're just trying to stretch it out too far now

Looks like there is another "dead, oh no alive again" sequence coming up. I understand the part that its a fiction but to take common sense completely out of it makes it really unbearable. Brainiac is powered by energy wow genius observation there. Who the hell wrote that dialog ?? When you don't have any idea how to fight this guy and a fortress of knowledge at your disposal common sense would lead a person to go there and figure out how to beat the bad guys not "try to do something" on your own. For pete's sake he has no idea how brainiac does things. This show is proving to be more and more dumb. I am a big fan and really liked the show but my liking is on the decline, thanks to common sense free episodes they are airing.

Yeah that WAS misleading on CW's part no doubt... but they choose their words well, and it happened to an extent. They didn't say "Clark will fly"... they are merely pulling strings on the Fans!

However, knowing the producers' rules, I don't know why you all actually expect it?

To me, I KNEW he wasn't gonna fly from the start.

Even to the people who agree with you that the show is great, and they complain about something in the episode, you jump down on them. You;re allowed to be a great fan of a show and complain about episodes. Hell i love my shows and have those episodes that im absolutely disappointed in. I agree with everyone here, you have to deal with the fact that there is complaints of the episodes.. and people are gong to complain. Small ville is *not* perfect. Its good, but not perfect.

You also mention about "the bigger picture hasn't" or the "story as a whole" this and that. Its not about the bigger picture. These are fans like you, but are disappointed in episodes. We are talking about "Episodes" that have complaints, not the "bigger picture" as you are so hyped about. Just because a fellow fan is disappointed in the episode, doesnt mean they are disappointed with the bigger picture.

Im sure they are excited about the entire story like you are. But its simply not about that. Its about the episode. Shows have crappy episodes, but that doesnt mean the story is crappy. Please deal with it.

Also, i hope they take Lana out. I cant stand her. Everyone else in the show is fantastic, i just cant stand Lana for some reason!

+1. Is it really gonna ruin your day if someone's opinion of an episode isn't exactly the same as yours? Personally I too was really disappointed with the flying bit this episode, I expected he wasn't going to really learn fully but to just be like "We don't have time for this." was really lame. At least try and fail don't look outside the barn pondering it then opt against it.

I am tired of arguing with you all... cuz it's really moot.

I am hoping the Next five episode is great I think it WILL but the problem is I don't know any spoilers to confirm that! The new spoilers are really tightly-guarded for now it seems.

So it would be pointless for me to say "Just watch for the upcoming episodes"... You Maybe right, that Smallville is NO longer good, the next 5 gonna suck as well, the finale gonna suck. Next year gonna SUCK Worse... hey that's a Possibility!

Sadly, My GOOD faith isn't shared by everybody else! :(

But rest assured, I definitely want the Season Finale to blow me away I really do!!! There IS a Higher standard I wish to see Smallville to reach in the season Finale!

Some Spoilers about the final 5 episodes(this season), would be nice soon I CAN'T wait to read what's coming up! :)

Now, some thoughts/Comments about potential upcoming plots (And what Veritas meant to the whole story)-

First of all, i was not at all disappointed with Veritas. I think it was an excellent episode.

Yes the spoilers and official description were totally misleading, but i think everyone was expecting to see a second season finale. We all know for almost two months now that this would change.

We know they raised the death of Lionel and pushed it to the next episode, and the other thing nobody is telling as to what they raised, i suspect is Clark flying.

I imagine the cliffhanger planned had something to do with Clark actually giving chase when Kara and Brainiac flew off, or at the very least doing something about it, like going to the Fortress for Jor-El's help.

If you watch the "Hero" and "Veritas" trailers you'll see what was cut: Lex pushing Lionel out the window and Lex opening the bank box in Zurich.

I personally believe that Veritas/Descent was essentially one episode, the Veritas we didn't see.

Actually Spoilers - NOT much though

Episode #7-18: "Apocalypse"

A character that we haven't seen on Smallville for a while may be returning in this one.

Episode #7-19: "Quest"

Episode #7-20: "Arctic"

Isnt it the Network that creates the description and promo trailer? I remember Stargate Atlantis had this sort of issue, showing an Ancient warchip and mentioning the replicators but then the episode aired, nothing like that happened.

Yeah they hyped the flying a bit, but that doesnt mean it was a bad episode. The description was probably from the finale, and maybe he did learn or start learning how to fly during the finale version. But they cut it out at the last second since the writers strike ended, and didnt have time to update their description/trailer since it required more work to be done, things to be re-shot, and so on.

To me, smallville gets better and better every season. It is way more adult now than it was in the first 4 seasons where it was more like a high school drama type show, A LOT of freak of the weeks, and pretty much no enemy that clark needed to actually fight. The writers strike messed everything up on a lot of shows, its not the creators fault here.

Now that being said, I hope they come back with a bang and a huge one. I would love to see major battles, more justice league, more martian manhunter, more kara, and way more action. It looks like we are getting there.

Lex is declining FAST. Lex pushing Lionel off the edge will be one of the greatest moments of the show. Evil lex is beginning to emerge even more

Lionel warning of a new and very powerful danger that nobody will listen to him. Darkseid probably, has to do with the bang in space kara and brainiac created

The show is still great dont get me wrong, but Ive been watching it since the first season, sometimes I feel like they are dragging it on and sometimes it feels rushed. This season its mixed for me.

enjoyed the episodes it's like a an empty stomach when i watch Smallville that gap is filled been watching it since season 1 as well still adore the show but I think this season must close off nicely.
