I got mine for ?649 delivered with an extended 3 year warranty and a free (rrp ?40) Hoya UV filter.

It really is a great lens. You get what you pay for in photography. It's such an expensive hobby, but this lens is worth every penny.

If you're looking at a prime lens, you should consider the Canon 50mm f/1.4.

I currently have a 50mm f/1.8 which is very good. I'm just looking for a very short and fast lense (i.e. 10mm or so and less than f/2.0)

The only Canon based lense I could see that gets anywhere near that would be the 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5

I actually have the Canon 10-22mm. I love that lens, but pretty useless in low lighting as you can imagine. I was very near to getting the 50mm 1.4 but moonman warned me that it's quite a long lens, so i went with the 35mm and i'm glad i did.
