can't move the progress slider at all in wmp12 when video files are open from the 'frequent' files list under the pinned wmp icon. But the same files opened when navigating the its location are fine, the slider works and everything seems normal.

another bug? solutions?

Does anyone else have problems with subtitles on wmp12?

It is a player's bug or a codec bug?

Subtitles seem to work fine for me. But I have a 3rd party codecs installed

Man WMP12 is such a mess right now. What the heck happened to the tag editor? I can't even find a way to put in album art or edit detailed tag information like in WMP11. The Taskbar popup buttons are almost useless considering even laptop keyboards have shortcuts for pausing, next, and previous now. What we need is a seekbar, maybe some way to access the current playlist directly from the popup (not sure if it's possible), and at least SHOW THE NAME OF THE FRIGGIN SONG PLAYING in the preview title bar!

Well for me WMP12 is one step backward.

To sum it up its Crap state now.

They need to fix all those tag editing problems

Is that confirmed? I did imagine WMP12 will only be for Vista, W7 and W2008. MS should've done that with IE8 but there is a lot more riding on that one.

WMP12 for XP wont happen , mainstream support has expired.

but for Vista there are likely hood that it is in the making

Does anyone know how I should be tagging my "Various Artists" music to list properly in WMP12? Currently they are spread all over the place in order of artist.

All of my other music is listed fine, this is the only issue I'm having.

I'm guessing I need to add a "Various Artists" tag to a FIELD other than "ALBUM ARTIST" which I'm currently using...

EDIT: I'm also experiencing issue with 720p playback, WMP seems to have locked you into using their own codecs in WMP and the HD decoder gives very choppy playback, my CPU and memory usage stays low but I still get choppy video, any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn weapons and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.
