Sky1 has acquired the UK rights to new JJ Abrams drama Fringe.

The first major deal from this year's LA Screenings gives the channel the exclusive linear TV rights to the show, which stars Joshua Jackson and centres around an outbreak of paranormal phenomena.

"We're delighted to have secured the rights to Fringe, which we believe will thrill a new generation of viewers much like The X-Files did 15 years ago," said David Smyth, head of acquisitions at Sky1. "Together with Lost, we?re honoured to be the home for J.J. Abrams? shows here in the UK!"

Fringe will air as part of Sky1's new-look Autumn lineup. It premieres on September 7 in the US on Fox.

      I did that to a work colleague many years ago when he left it logged in. Unfortunately I was out of the office the next day, and even the IT department was stumped lol. Got a bit of a bollocking when I got back into the office, but, by god, it was worth it.
