Cloverfield (2008)

well ... i watched last night at an advanced screening (in France ) and WOW !!! I felt a little sickc at the beginning but next ... WOW . When you compare Godzilla to the thing in Cloverfield, Godzilla looks damn weak ! :D

I just saw it and I ******* LOVED IT!

Shaky camera wasn't a problem.

What surprised me is that even with such short time on camera, some of the character's deaths really got me (like Jason's and Marlena's death).

Overall I really liked it, surprising and shocking moments made it better.

Does anyone have a still from the Coney Island scene with the meteor/satellite falling into the ocean? I swear I saw something in the cinema, but my friends didn't believe.

I really enjoyed the film, exceeded my expectations.

I'm kinda glad I was the only one that noticed the satellite right at the end. I saw the movie with two friends and not one noticed it. Anyway, click here for some mega Cloverfield spoilers.

WARNING: Do not click on the link if you haven't seen the movie yet. It will spoil everything for you. I repeat, it will spoil everything for you.

Thanks man.

Is it confirmed as a satellite then?

A satellite? As in a huge device that we've sent up? Not that I know of. I've always assume since I saw it that it was the monster crashing into earth. But I don't keep up with the spoilers for this film, so if the filmmakers have said it is, then I'm curious as to why the hell they put it in there?

The majority of people I've talked to and read online never saw it happen. I'm glad it was pointed out in the other Cloverfield thread, I never would have seen it if it had not been for Rappy posting that image.

After reading from that link Anaron just posted, it does appear to be confirmed as a satellite. Hasn't Abrams said the 'monster' was sleeping in the ocean for thousands of years? The link seems to suggest it was awoken by a number of factors, including the satellite.

But he's also called the monster a baby. How can it be thousands of years old and baby at the same time. It doesn't make sense.

Plus, how much of that stuff is confirmed by the filmmakers? There's no links to sources or anything on that site, so I'm taking it at face value.

Saw it last night, the movie has some good moments, wasnt bad overall but I was expecting a little more. I would see it again, BUT WITH AN EMPTY STOMACH. I was eating popcorn at the theater while seeing it and I finished with a enormous headache and wanting to throw up.

I have seen it now and I am still not convinced it actually fell we just saw the white bit in the sea and thats it but I didn't see it fall.

Something did fall. I distinctly remember seeing a black, cigar shaped, object fall into the ocean. For some reason I was looking at the ocean, then the sky, and I tracked it with my eye as it fell into the ocean. It was pretty fast too.

I just saw the whiteness of something falling but not actually fall...oh well as Locke said in Lost *I will have to watch this again*.

A lot of people in my theatre were booing during the credits, I even heard a few people saying "is that it?"

I really don't think this film is geared towards a mass audience, rather those (like ourselves) who have been following production and hype since the first teaser hit the net.

Yeah I mean most people who come out now think wtf was that until they are told where the monster came from which is in the last scene.

Saw this expecting to not enjoy it.

LOVED it - really everything a disaster movie should be. A few criticisms:

1) The dude holding the camera was an ass who I wanted to die 5 mins into the film. Annoying voice, annoying character.

2) As the above, it made me seasick.

But that monster... Whoah!

And seeing that building fallen over onto the other - mad.

Just saw this movie today, I loved it. I hadn't really followed the hype. I figured it looked pretty good, But it definatly exceeded my expectations.

Is there another scene after the credits or did I zone out??
