Maybe people should worry more about the browsing experience itself, and not how the browser "looks".

I've actually reduced firefox's interface to the minimum:

[menu bar] [back/forward] [location bar]

---------------------------------------------------

[ Web page ]

I totally forget about the interface while surfing because it doesn't get in the way.

It's great that I can change the interface to my own needs, just like everyone else...

So maybe FF3 doesn't support the Vista look by default. So what? It's not like they're charging you for it. Write your own damn skin then.

Check out the minifox theme. I have Web Developer toolbar and with Minifox I have a lot less wasted space than IE7 without about 10x the functionality in that space.

Just went to check it out... looks too cluttered for my taste. This is what mine looks like:

you have to admit it... it does look better than the windows themes' keyhole

Yes, it does, but at the same time it really doesn't fit with the look and feel of a Mac OS X application. I like the previous back/forward button styles, the ones that were like Safari's but slightly rounder.

The big deal, is that just like with the current 10+ Vista themes out there for Firefox, they all suck ass.

Last time I checked, there was a theme that looked just like IE8 on Vista (with almost all functionality!)

and btw. who's using Vista?

1. Is IE8 available yet??

2. Like half of the world??

There is no IE 8 out in public yet. Only a private BETA to some Microsoft Connect testers. So please can you tell me how somebody could have created a theme for Firefox, which looks like a browser which no-one, except Microsoft developers and Connect testers have seen? Do you not mean you have seen themes which look exactly like IE 7 on Vista?

Finally, to answer your theory on "btw, who's using Vista?". The answer is simple: Not including most businesses, I'd say the majority of people are. All the people I know are as most of them have recently purchased new computers or laptops within the last year and the rest have upgraded. Vista has been out for over a year now and the next Windows OS is coming out in about 2 years... so why would no-one be using it!? :s Your theory makes no sense.

well now the nightly has the vista theme again... this time the keyhole is more along the lines of the os x's version

Mind posting a screenshot? I don't have my Vista virtual machine loaded at the moment...

That is horrible :x

Vista Aero 2.0.0.11 for Firefox 2 looks 10x better.

The old back and forward were far more Vista-like. These look stupid.

WTF is going on with the team? Do they have a blind 5 year old deciding these things?

No. Theyre testing it out. Microsoft did the same thing with the releases of Vista. They would add and remove features based on response of testers. All theyre trying to do is get a feel for what people want.

Vista didn't change that much, and I expect Firefox not to change that much between release and now either.

If that is true and this continues, IE is my browser of choice. It will always be supported by developers, and I'm sure there are others who will choose the same.
