"Grand Theft Auto IV is complete

Take Two Interactive just confirmed at the company's annual general meeting that Grand Theft Auto IV has gone gold. "Trucks are rolling next week and there will be a lot of them", the executive said, confirming that the game discs will be making their way to stores next week ahead of the game's release on April 29th.

Pretty late for a gold announcement?

i read some stuff about screenshots being uploaded to your social club account like bungie.net and forza 2. but what else can i do with it?

You can log into it whenever you want :p

This is causing a little bit of a stir, bit of an unnecessary PR stunt one might say :p

Microsoft slams GTA IV PS3 install time in PR mail

Just got this from Microsoft PR:

With the OXM review hitting streets today, and your own preview impressions which are looking great, hopefully you’ll all be a bit wiser as to the ins and outs of GTA IV now.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the chatter from the 1up GTA IV Preview on the PS3 install time….just a few thoughts on what you could do in this time if you were actually playing the 360 version from the moment you insert the disc….

? Steal your first dozen or so cars and test out the improved vehicle handling?

? Check out the cool features on your mobile phone?

? Rack up a 5 Star Wanted Rating?

? Have a blast of your first MP game on Xbox LIVE?

? Ditch the tracksuit chic and buy some new clothes?

? Unlock your first GTA IV Achievement and boost your Gamerscore?

….Or just start downloading a film from Xbox LIVE Video Store to watch later – check out the latest batch of arrivals this weekend!

360 has an optional install as well, but really, the main reason it has to be optional is the lack of a hdd in every model.

A "5 minute" install (what some previewer from 1up said it was) doesn't sound like a 5GB install, so hey, power to Rockstar if it makes things smoother rather than streaming everything from disc.

I'm sure the majority of 360 owners will go for the optional install if it improves their game play experience, why wouldn't you?

Unless you're one of these people that buy 4GB of ram for their PC then go postal if windows/applications you're using amounts to 1/10th of you:pram :p

5 Minutes is a freakin' long time when you got the game and wanna play, but I'll definitely install the game!

Best solution I've read.

Buy the game 5 minutes earlier than you planned to buy it :rofl:

Hmmm, that's gonna be a tough one to tell the postman :laugh:

But some Evenin' News;

We've received several advance reviews, and with one exception, they are all perfect scores. My mom couldn't write a bad review about this game."

Oh and some new information;

Lazlow reveals new GTA IV info

With the countdown to GTA IV approaching single digits, Grand Theft Auto radio celebrity Lazlow appeared on the Opie and Anthony Show this morning where he revealed small tidbits from the game (which was being played live on-air):

* Lazlow prefers the Xbox 360 version of the game because of the DLC offered: "We are already working on new missions, new downloadable missions. They'll be new missions, new characters, new comedy. First will be in August."

* If Niko gets shot in the leg, he will bleed from the leg and begin to limp.

* At least 20 missions are dedicated to controls tutorials.

If you missed the live stream you can listen to a portion of the show on YouTube (Part 1, Part 2 ), but a full download of it should be available later today.

Both taken from GTAGaming

Expanded information on the lazlow deal from Planetgrandtheftauto;

# Jim Norton plays a worker in a porn shop. "That's a vintage bush" is a line he says.

# Here's a random line: "Eat my fat hairy fist!"

# There are over 100 radio commercials.

# Sometimes there are announcements in the subway about police harassing you and searching you randomly.

# There are Piswasser commercials mocking the Budweiser radio commercials played in America. Lazlow played one of them and it's sung by Anthony himself.

# You can go on different news websites in the game and read about different crimes you've committed.

# You can date girls you've met on dating websites.

# When you get shot in individual places, there will be different reactions e.g. if Niko gets shot in the leg, he will begin to bleed from there and he will also begin to limp.

# Recording sessions went on for weeks, ten hours a day, every day.

# There were a lot of weekends that were spent by Rockstar employees trying to make the game as great as possible.

# Lazlow says he prefers the Xbox version because of downloadable content: new missions, characters, comedy, etc.

# O&A admit that it's amazing and as Anthony puts it "everybody will have a blast playing."

5 minutes is nothing, just open a beer/get more comfortable, how many 5 minute periods have you already waited for this game? I'll be getting the 360 version, but if there's an optional install, I'll be doing it.

Sooooo, now it's gone gold, what's the betting someone leaks it beforehand? There's going to be millions of copies of it lying around.

(I'm not advocating piracy, looking forward to the midnight launch (finally get a game before the Americans, if only for 5-8 hours :)) I'd much prefer everyone get's it the same day anyway)

Exactly, that's why the DMC4 20/30 min install (can't remember what it was) is great! You get ****ed before the game even starts :p

im just joking...

20-30 Minute Install?! Holy ... :|

20 minutes, I checked google heh (dont have the game myself).

I'm surprised you missed out, as you'd expect it was like war of the worlds on game sites when it was found out!

    • Nobody is buying a PS5 only for playing Until Dawn 2. Their loss.
    • If you actually used it instead of responding like a petulant child you might be surprised. I switched from Google some time ago and have been very satisfied.
    • I am one of the first people to use the DXVK technology. In the channel below you can see some videos that I have made using this technology, including Assassin's Creed Odyssey. https://www.youtube.com/@nahum7995/videos Assassin's Creed Odyssey experienced several bugs and technical issues during its first months after release. It launched with its own fair share of funny but frustrating glitches. I ran it on DXVK 9 days after its release and I played it for many hours but didn't see a single significant bug on Linux. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is widely celebrated for pushing the franchise in bold new directions and specifically for nailing several elements better than any other title in the AC series: Player Choice & Branching Narrative, The Mercenary & Cultist System, Mythological Integration, Overpowered Combat Abilities, Open World Exploration But what I'm trying to point out is that this game wasn't quite playable on most windows systems, until a few months after its release when most of the bugs were fixed. However, on Linux it ran completely flawless from day one, although DXVK had seen little development and refinement at the time. What do you think the situation will be in 2026 now that most bugs and glitches of DXVK have been completely eliminated? This is information from Google about these situations that I am quoting. In many cases, using DXVK (a translation layer that converts DirectX 9, 10, or 11 into Vulkan) can result in more stable frame times and higher performance than native Windows rendering. This happens primarily by bypassing driver overhead and multithreading draw calls that were previously restricted to a single CPU core. Older APIs (like DirectX 9 and 11) are largely single-threaded on the CPU side. DXVK translates these calls to Vulkan, which is highly multi-threaded. This reduces CPU-bound stuttering on weaker processors. In certain cases, GPU manufacturers (especially AMD) have significantly better and more modern Vulkan drivers than they do for legacy DirectX. Vulkan gives developers—and in this case, the translation layer—closer control over how resources are held in VRAM. This can prevent micro-stutters and sudden frame drops during chaotic gameplay. Yes, certain games, particularly older DirectX 9 to 11 titles, can run with fewer crashes on DXVK than on native Windows. By intercepting DirectX draw calls and translating them into the modern, highly efficient Vulkan API, DXVK bypasses the limitations and poor driver support that cause instability in aging game engines. PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 can be easily and perfectly emulated on Linux. In fact, modern Linux emulators offer high-performance upscaling, widescreen patches, and automatic controller mapping out of the box.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 PlayStation 1/2/3 games look drastically better on Linux thanks to resolution upscaling. Furthermore, it is also a fact that you cannot play many fun games on Windows either, isn't it? - The Nintendo Switch has an extensive library of exclusive games. - PlayStation has an extensive library of exclusive games - Android has "mobile-exclusive" games, meaning they are exclusive to mobile devices (iOS and Android) and aren't available on PC or consoles. And finally, it is also the case that in the next five years there will be games that millions of people will say you absolutely must play and that they want to play this specific game that released a few days ago. However, the other side of this story is that currently, absolutely no one cares that they cannot play these upcoming games right now.
