GTAIV - PS3 vs 360

Recommended Posts

I know the PS3 version will look better on my setup, PS3 is hooked up to a 1080p LCD, 360 to a 720p tv. I'm still getting the 360 version as that is what my friends have. Honestly though, who cares about graphics anyway, most games look pretty amazing anymore regardless of what platform they're on. The other GTA games all looked like crap, but they were awesome anyway.

You people arguing over this have serious issues. In the end, everyone will get it for the system they have chosen and are stuck with that. No one's opinion matters nor will all this discussion change anything... unless you're big enough of a tool to switch consoles because the other system's version seems better, based on mostly uninformed opinions.

There's a great head to head video on IGN, but I think you have to be an insider to watch it. Basically what it all boils down to is you should get the version your friends have so you can play together. They also said the differences are very minor, barely noticeable unless you're looking at both versions side by side. Arguing over which is better is pointless because it's an amazing game on both systems. The comic that Audioboxer posted makes a good point, Sony and the PS3 fans really want to win one. I may rent it for PS3 at some point because I have a few friends on there playing it already, but I bought the 360 version.

You have got to be joking  !

Scirwode

The comic is a joke at how if a topic like this is posted, it's almost instantly flooded with a ton of gamers for "each side" which = server fail :p

GTA 4 in-game TV better on PS3

Full-screen option not available in Xbox 360 version.

In the process of making our GTA 4 comparison video we've noticed one major difference between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game - there is no full-screen video mode for in-game TV in the Xbox 360 version.

We're not sure why - maybe it's because the video files could be stored in higher quality on the Blu-ray disc - but there is an option to watch TV shows in full screen (well, as near as) in the PS3 version of GTA 4. This feature is missing from the Xbox 360 version, with the player forced to view what's on the box in a small viewing area.

It's not a massive blow to the Xbox 360, but some of the short TV shows are certainly worth a look and we'd much rather watch them in full screen rather than strain our eyes viewing the smaller Xbox 360 version.

Look out for our full comparison very soon, but in the mean time head over to our 10/10 GTA 4 review.

Seriously, I'll beat anyone over the head with a chicken that starts arguments over that!

On a serious note, anyone watch any TV shows yet? They're frickin hilarious  Rockstar are funny guys!

Well I've played both versions and they're pretty much identical.

Only difference I can really notice is the filter each seem to use for drawing scenery in the distance. The 360 has a sort of "painting" effect, where as the PS3 is just more of a blur effect.

Another look at the two console versions of GTAIV zoomed in by 400%. The pics show an ever so slight edge in the PS3 version.

Gamesradar:PS3/360 GTA4 pop-in comparison

Gamesradar makes a draw-in comparison between the two consoles.

For every person saying the PS3 is better, there's someone saying the 360 is better. Point in case:

http://www.videogamer.com/features/article...4-2008-389.html

THEIR money is on the 360 version.

This is seriously stupid, get whatever version YOU want for YOUR OWN reasons, don't go by what someone else has said because you wont notice a bloody thing.

I actually own both versions and they are 99.99% identical. The reason I prefer the PS3 version are all personal preferences. I prefer the pad, and the reliability/quietness of the PS3 consoles

Nothing in it, if anything the PS3 (as we know) doesn't have as much 'pop up'

So far, I only noticed pop-ups on the PS3 version. Just take this comparison for example, and count the pop-ups on both versions: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/209601.html

Yeah... none on the xbox 360 footage and only a few on PS3 version

That has to be one of the worst comparison video's I've seen.

I'll stick to my own eyes, plus those of all the reviewers when I say that the PS3 has less pop up than the 360. Not that it makes any massive difference.

Sorry, but what the hell does zooming in at 400% have to do with anything?

Do you all wear milk bottle glasses or something? :/ Honestly stfu, buy whichever version suits your needs best

Actually it's to do with how each renders distant objects, and it does make things look different.

As I said earlier the 360 looks more like a painting in the distance, the PS3 just looks like a blurred back drop.

It took a little while for me to adjust to the graphics style, as I've spent years playing GTA:SA on super sharp PC graphics, hell, might even still play SA cos I loved the cross country police chases.

After playing the 360 version, the PS3 version did look different but I actually prefer it now.

I purchased both the PS3 version and the 360 version, and I have to say the PS3's graphics are better (the lighting seems to be way more realistic), but I have to say because of this the frame rates do suffer. Also I noticed on the 360 the colours seem to be more vibrant, and I didn't change any of the display settings so that I found weird.

Disclaimer: my eyes are different from yours and this is just what I saw with mine while playing both versions. :p

    • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
