Proof that Diablo 3 is Coming!?

Recommended Posts

Diablo3.com posted this LAST WEEK -

Ahoy there, fellow Diablo fans!

Well, there's no point in beating around the bush any longer, so let's get right down to it. A few months ago we were contacted by Blizzard in regards to the Diablo3.com domain name. While they appreciate all the work that's been put into running this big Diablo fan community over the years, they still want the domain name. Hmm, I wonder why? Now before you get all up in arms about it, allow me to explain a few things.

First off, this fan site isn't going anywhere, it's just getting a new name: Diablofans.com! Blizzard is actually being really cool about it, giving us all the time we need to make it a smooth transition before we hand the old domain over to them. So be sure to update all of your bookmarks and point 'em to diablofans.com instead. Your user accounts will all still be perfectly functional and, along with this new site name, we'll soon have a big site redesign up and running as well. A new name, a new look. Huzzah!

Secondly, while Blizzard is indeed acquiring the diablo3.com domain name, they told me that this shouldn't be considered an announcement for the Diablo 3 game we've been waiting for all these years. They acquire new domains all the time. While this is true, I personally can't help but think that this is a confirmation of sorts that they're working on the next Diablo game. Sure, they can claim it's because they want to protect their intellectual properties 'n what have you, but I can't imagine they would all of a sudden be so interested in the diablo3.com domain if they weren't working on a new Diablo 3 game behind the scenes.

On a final note, I want to thank all of you guys who've made this community so strong over the years. It's only going to get better around here and I hope you'll all stick with us. One of the nice things about this whole name-change ordeal is that Blizzard really appreciates the fact that we're a dedicated fan site and we'll be working with them much more closely in the future to bring you the latest Diablo game news.

It's funny, I've had so many offers over the years from people who wanted to pay a lot o' cash for the diablo3.com domain name and I wasn't even willing to consider then. I set out to have a great Diablo fan site because I simply loved the Diablo series. Fortunately, with the help of some great people on the staff and fans like you, we accomplished just that. But when Blizzard came around asking for the domain, I was excited about it both as a Diablo fan and for their recognition of all the work we've put into the site. Fortunately for us, the diablofans.com domain name was available and it fit perfectly in line with the intentions of this site, so I registered it and here we are. Diablo3.com will still be active for a few more months so everybody can have a chance to get used to the new Diablofans.com domain. After that, it will simply point to the Blizzard.com homepage... at least until they're ready to use it for something more worthwhile. One of the nice things about the new diablofans.com domain is that it's all-encompassing. Instead of the site just being for people waiting on Diablo 3, it can serve as the main hub for *all* current and future Diablo games. Isn't it nice to know you'll always have a place online you can call home? Hey, even Diablo's demon minions need a place to hang their hats too.

Alright, that's all the news for now. I'm sure all of this news is gonna get the Diablo 3 rumor mill running like a mad banshee... so have fun discussing the announcement with your fellow Diablo fans!

update: Some gaming news sites are reporting that Blizzard "purchased" the diablo3.com domain from me. This is not the case. As I stated in the above post, if it was my intention to make a profit off of the domain, I could've sold it years ago, but I didn't. When Blizzard spoke to me about their interest in the domain, I was happy to give it to them since they had no problems with us moving the site to diablofans.com and will now be working more closely with us in the future. So yeah, I just wanted to clear that up... there is no monetary exchange taking place, I'm simply giving Blizzard the diablo3 domain.

I think it's proof enough Blizzard is Secretly working on Diablo 3 right now, and by E3 Blizzard will announce D3!

Or... Not.

I can't see why Blizz would go back to Diablo when they are making an absolute fortune riding the MMO bandwagon in to the sunset.

Or... Not.

I can't see why Blizz would go back to Diablo when they are making an absolute fortune riding the MMO bandwagon in to the sunset.

Because the Diablo series was really fun. Quite honestly I fail to see the appeal of MMO's.

Blizzard would be a pretty poor company if they didnt diversify their income streams and or thought they could exist of WoW forever. WoW has made them alot of cash and it would be smart to use that capital to invest in other franchises. Star Craft II will be done and dusted over the next 6-12 months and turning to Diablo if they havent already is quite feasable

Blizzard is not going to E3. It will never go again in the future. The deal between Activision and Vivendi and the E3 owner has been terminated. Blizz may announce D3 after SC2, that is the best way. (my opinion)

"they told me that this shouldn't be considered an announcement for the Diablo 3 game we've been waiting for all these years. They acquire new domains all the time."

unless you dont know how to read. you would have read that.

But why now? The guy has had the domain since 2000... Why would they leave it alone for 8 years before deciding to grab it?

While I don't doubt that they snatch up new domains all the time, it's pretty strange that they left that domain alone for 8 years before even approaching the guy about it.

But why now? The guy has had the domain since 2000... Why would they leave it alone for 8 years before deciding to grab it?

Thats exactly what jumped out to me. If he's had it that long, and the Diablo II fan base (or at least active number of players is starting to dwindle) why would they suddenly be all over it now?

Definately a good sign. I hope D3 gets announced this year, definately!

Because the Diablo series was really fun. Quite honestly I fail to see the appeal of MMO's.

i totally agree! ;) ... all there newer stuff pretty much sucks (i.e. Warcraft etc etc)

cause i generally dont play many RPG's but Diablo series was one of the few i did and liked quite a bit ;) ... i just aint sure how Diablo would turn out in the 3D world.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm usually pessimistic about everything, but I think it'll be OK for me to try and be optimistic for this.

After all, Diablo is Diablo.

I'm hoping that they make gold a useful commodity, rather than just a dead mechanic just there for the sake of being there.

It would be nice if the classes were more balanced. Not only were Hammerdins capable of high damage, they also ignored resistances, were cheap to build, etc.

=\

Diablo 2.... why was that fun? lol Incredibly repetitive at some point, but you'd still do Baal runs to grab items, or keep on PVP'in those Koreans who'd come and PK you

I just hope they'll be more careful at balancing the skills to avoid having 20 barbarians whirwinding ur ass while ur shooting guided arrows

NEWS Update -

Another fan-fueled Diablo Rumor Mill has propelled out in full swing after PC Gamer's July 2008 Edition wrapped up with the following text:

"NEXT MONTH

Have you ever had a secret that you're just dying to blurt out, but you can't for another month, and the stress of holding it in makes you want to do the pee-pee dance? That's what the PC Gamer staff is doing right now, because the August issue will be chock-full of exclusives, including a top-secret cover story so huge we had to go to [CENSORED] to get it. Just 30 days more ..."

Here are a few thoughts to ponder on this brainstorming puzzle PC Gamer unleashed:

- PC Gamer was probably among the Gaming press Magazines who visited Blizzard Entertainment early on May, a few weeks ago.

- If you remember, PC Gamer knew about the Starcraft II announcement last May 2007. Blizzard Entertainment made the announcement at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals (WWI) at Seoul, South Korea.

- PC Gamer can't talk about it for the next 30 days ... the 2008 Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals at Paris, France takes place on June 28-29.

- June 29 is the date Diablo II shipped on USA (2000) and the same date the expansion Lord of Destruction shipped on Europe a year later (2001).

- Notice how PC Gamer replaces a swearing with [CENSORED]? Could this be a clue as to what the game they refer to? Because CENSORED really sounds like HELL ... as in ... Diablo?

http://www.diablofans.com/ formerly http://www.diablo3.com/, but last month aquired by Blizzard!

Diablo 2 made me sleepy very boring

and there is no proof until it's announced people have been spreading false rumors for a few years now

I should slap you. Much love.

Pray that they get rid of the !@#$ runes as currency, and just straight up use gold. IF there is even going to be a D3 :p

I agree, although I found it repetitive I enjoyed it the most. I loved the 1.9 days doing cow runs all day and night in the summer..the joys of when I was 12 and 13. I hate the Rune words crap they have going on.

Gold had no use other than buying potions when to lazy to go get them killing monsters.

I agree also with the fact that skills need to be more balanced.

I want this game to be announced, I'll pre-order if possible!

If you go to the Blizzard Job Hiring, They're hiring for multiple mmo positions for a "Top Secret MMO Project" and it says in the form, "Blizzard, the creators of Diablo and Diablo 2." Typically, they use the game in the message that they're hiring for. Yes they do, I've applied a few times, and why would they put that they're the creator of the Diablo games, and not the more popular mainstream Warcraft games? Cause its the "top secret mmo" they're going to announce at Blizzcon this September, not E3. Blizz aren't going to E3 this year.

    • Rockstar gives last-gen GTA V players free upgrades tomorrow by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Rockstar is preparing to launch Grand Theft Auto VI later this year, but ahead of that, the company has revealed a new offer for some Grand Theft Auto V owners. It today announced that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version owners of the 2013-released title will soon be receiving a free upgrade to the current generation version. The studio released the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 version of Grand Theft Auto V back in 2022, bringing significant upgrades to the original console editions. This included 60 FPS gameplay at up to 4K resolution, as well as major upgrades to textures, draw distance, and audio. Faster load times, ray tracing elements, and HDR support were also added with it. While this new and enhanced version needed a new purchase of the game to jump in, now Rockstar has decided to make it a free upgrade, dropping the $40 price tag entirely on consoles. "Beginning tomorrow, those who own any PS4 version or the digital Xbox One version of Grand Theft Auto V will be able to upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S versions at no additional cost, and experience the best versions of GTA V and GTA Online," said the company in an official blog post. The free upgrade offer will be released tomorrow, June 18, for all Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners of Grand Theft Auto V. Players who will be jumping in on the offer will want to check how to migrate their GTA Online profile from last-generation to current-generation consoles by heading over here. The offer lands ahead of The Kortz Center Heist hitting Grand Theft Auto Online, where players and crews will be tasked with stealing priceless international art from a prestigious gallery in Pacific Bluffs. It doesn't look like Rockstar plans to stop updating its previous game even with Grand Theft Auto VI being on the horizon. The latest title is slated to launch on November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

    • Rufus 4.15.2391 Beta by Razvan Serea Rufus is a small utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks, etc. Despite its small size, Rufus provides everything you need! Oh, and Rufus is fast. For instance it's about twice as fast as UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer or Windows 7 USB download tool, on the creation of a Windows 7 USB installation drive from an ISO (with honorable mention to WiNToBootic for managing to keep up). It is also marginally faster on the creation of Linux bootable USBs from ISOs. A non-exhaustive list of Rufus supported ISOs is available here. It can be especially useful for cases where: you need to create USB installation media from bootable ISOs (Windows, Linux, UEFI, etc.) you need to work on a system that doesn't have an OS installed you need to flash a BIOS or other firmware from DOS you want to run a low-level utility Rufus 4.15.2391 Beta changelog: Improve the guards for using the "silent" option Improve the ability to cancel during write retries Fix unrestricted XML entity expansion and integer overflow in ezxml parser (courtesy of @esadowski4) [GHSA-55r2-34wg-8mv9] Fix "silent" Windows installation failing at 75% in most cases [#2960] Fix a crash during boot when using UEFI:NTFS on Snapdragon X based ARM64 platforms [#2934] Fix the first WUE option always being checked by default [#2965] Fix an infinite loop when using Windows ISOs that contain multiple WIMs Fix "Enable runtime UEFI media validation" checkbox not always being properly enabled Other WUE improvements/fixes for OneDrive removal and username validation (with thanks to @christian8641) [#2984, #2991] Download: Rufus 4.15 Beta | 1.9 MB (Open Source) Links: Rufus Home Page | Project Page @GitHub | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
    • Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.3 by Razvan Serea Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC) is a free and open-source video and audio player for Windows. MPC-HC is based on the original Guliverkli project (which is no longer maintained) and contains many additional features and bug fixes. As the continuation of the original Media Player Classic, MPC-HC isn’t flashy but it works with nearly any media format. MPC-HC uses DXVA technology to pass decoding operations to your modern video card, enhancing your viewing experience. And MPC-HC supports both physical and software DVDs with menus, chapter navigation, and subtitles. Overview of features A lot of people seem to be unaware of some of the awesome features that have been added to MPC-HC in the past years. Here is a list of useful options and features that everyone should know about: Dark interface Menu > View > Dark Theme When using dark theme it is also possible to change the height of the seekbar and size of the toolbar buttons. Options > Advanced Video preview on the seekbar Options > Tweaks > Show preview on seek bar Adjust playback speed Menu > Play > Playback rate The buttons in the player that control playback rate take a 2x step by default. This can be customized to smaller values (like 10%): Options > Playback > Speed step Adjusting playback speed works best with the internal audio renderer. This also has automatic pitch correction. Options > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer MPC-HC can remember playback position, so you can resume from that point later Options > Player > History You can quickly seek through a video with Ctrl + Mouse Scrollwheel. You can jump to next/previous file in a folder by pressing PageUp/PageDown. You can perform automatic actions at end of file. For example to go to next file or close player. Options > Playback > After Playback (permanent setting) Menu > Play > After Playback (for current file only) A-B repeat - You can loop a segment of a video. Press [ and ] to set start and stop markers. You can rotate/flip/mirror/stretch/zoom the video Menu > View > Pan&Scan This is also easily done with hotkeys (see below). There are lots of keyboard hotkeys and mouse actions to control the player. They can be customized as well. Options > Player > Keys Tip: there is a search box above the table. You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites Put yt-dlp.exe or youtube-dl.exe in the MPC-HC installation folder. Then you can open website URLs in the player: Menu > File > Open File/URL You can even download those videos: Menu > File > Save a copy Tip: to be able to download in best quality with yt-dlp/youtube-dl, it is recommended to also put ffmpeg.exe in the MPC-HC folder. Several YDL configuration options are found here: Options > Advanced This includes an option to specify the location of the .exe in case you don't want to put it in MPC-HC folder. Play HDR video This requires using madVR or MPC Video Renderer. After installation these renderers can be selected here: Options > Playback > Output Ability to search for and download subtitles, either automatically or manually (press D): Options > Subtitles > Misc Besides all these (new) features, there have also been many bugfixes and internal improvements in the player in the past years that give better performance and stability. It also has updated internal codecs. Support was added for CUE sheets, WebVTT subtitles, etc. Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.3 changelog: Updated LAV Filters to version 0.82 Updated MPC Video Renderer to version 0.10.4.2550 Updated MPC Audio Renderer A few crash fixes, bug fixes and small improvements.
