Hard to see if either of those 2 are really the best solution to bolstering the squad, but the only result will be Liverpool being left behind if they keep getting beat to the punch for big name signings.

The financial situation that is faced at the moment is sad, the annoying thing is the actual club made ?10.2 million profit, but is losing money because of the interest on refinancing loans.

Distin is perhaps just gone past his peak. He's what like 31 or something. He has done pompey well, he's got Sol Campbell out of few tough moments. A great defender but is he of an age which makes him unsuitable for a bigger club?

We are hoping you will accept our offer of 50p and a packet of jelly beans.

That might be stretching the budget the yanks have given us though :/

Toon and West Ham for sale..

The Magpies have issued an official statement setting a price as Keith Harris, chairman of investment bankers Seymour Pierce, continued his search for buyers.

The statement read: "The board of Newcastle United can today confirm that the club is for sale at the price of ?100m.

"Interested parties should contact Newcastle United at [email protected] (or Keith Harris at Seymour Pierce) for further details.

"The club will not be making any further comment at the present time.''

West Ham are set for a ?70million takeover, according to a report in the Sunday Mail this morning.

Rob Draper writes: "The chaos surrounding West Ham’s ownership is likely to be solved by a ?70million American buyout brokered by football’s most prominent banker, Keith Harris, which will be completed before the start of the season."

The Hammers are currently in limbo after owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson went bankrupt and the Premier League club are now in the process of being taken over by Icelandic bank Straumur.

Stramur are themselves controlled by the Icelandic financial authorities and will be forced to accept a knockdown price for the Premier League club or risk running the club themselves.

West Ham are believed to be in debt to the tune of around ?50 million and also have to pay ?26 million to Sheffield United in a compensation package over the Carlos Tevez affair.

UPDATE:

West Ham United have, as expected, been taken over by a company controlled by the Icelandic bank Straumur. The deal brings to an end the ill-fated ownership of Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson who has seen his fortune wiped out by the global recession.

Straumur has effectively been owning West Ham for the past year and has now set up CB Holding, along with other creditors, an asset management business, to take control. It brings much needed stability.

Slaven Bilic's agent, Rudi Vata, has now claimed the former West Ham defender would be keen to manage on the South Coast, despite the Croatian Football Federation being keen to hold onto his services.

Vata, who recently suggested the Croatian could be set for Celtic, told The News: "Slaven is open to offers and there is interest from Portsmouth.

"There are different clubs who want him but he is very interested.

"Portsmouth have tried to get in touch, but there is no concrete offer at this stage.

"But the idea of working with and building the club would excite him.

"Slaven is hungry for the right club with the right ambition because he is a hungry manager. He is a person who sets high goals and wants to work hard to achieve them.

"There are going to be special things from him in the future."

Could be a nice and very interesting appointment.. if there is any truth to this story

Man Utd accept ?80m Ronaldo bid>

Manchester United have accepted a world record offer of ?80m from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.b>

"United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player," said a statement from the English club.

It added that the decision came at Ronaldo's request after he "again expressed his desire to leave".

United described the offer for the 24-year-old forward as unconditional and added that they expected the matter to be concluded by 30 June.

It is understood that the transfer fee would be made available for manager Sir Alex Ferguson to invest in the transfer market.

Madrid signed Brazilian Kaka for a reported ?56m earlier in the week, surpassing the previous world record fee of ?45.6m Real paid for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

That deal was sealed by the ambition of returning Real president Florentino Perez, who previously led the Spanish club from 2000 to 2006 - during the famous galacticos era.

And Perez had earlier made it clear that he would do "everything possible" to sign Ronaldo.

Madrid have also been linked with Liverpool's Xabi Alonso, Valencia's David Villa and Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery since Perez's unopposed election signalled the return of their vast spending.

Ronaldo, who joined United in 2003 from Sporting Lisbon for ?12.2m, was strongly linked with a move to the Spanish capital last summer.

United lodged a complaint with world governing body Fifa last June over what they believed was a deliberate attempt by Real to unsettle the winger.

After a long drawn out saga that ran through the summer months the Portugal international remained at United for the 2008-09 season.

"Now I understand I made the best decision," Ronaldo told Spanish sports paper Marca at the end of last summer. "I am with Manchester in body and soul.

But the speculation soured relations between the clubs and last December United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said that he would not "sell that mob a virus".

And despite Ronaldo's claim that he wanted to remain at Old Trafford he was the subject of constant speculation during the 2008-09 season and often gave mixed messages about his future.

If Ronaldo does sign for Madrid his last appearance for United would have been in the Champions League final that the Premier League champions lost 2-0 to Barcelona in Rome.

After the final Ronaldo was critical of Ferguson's tactics.More to follow..[/quSource: BBC News

    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
    • The biggest issue in this version of Win 11 context menu, from usability standpoint, is the movable row with basic commands. Think of a car analogy...if You turn the week left the infotainment screen will move right and vice versa. With how it works now Microsoft made something forbidden in designing in any UI, software or hardware. I can't grasp who were the morons within Microsoft suggesting it was a good idea and gave it a green light.

    • Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi system 2-pack is 27% off by Ivan Jenic The Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi system is currently $239.99 on Amazon for the 2-pack, down from $329.99. That's 27% off and $90 saved for a solid Wi-Fi solution that covers your entire home (purchase link down below). The 2-pack covers up to 4,000 square feet (372 square meters) and supports 100+ connected devices, which handles the vast majority of home setups without breaking a sweat. Wi-Fi 6E brings access to the 6 GHz band for lower latency across the network, and the 2.5 Gb Ethernet port supports gigabit+ internet plans if your ISP offers them. eero's TrueMesh technology handles traffic routing automatically, so you're not manually managing which devices connect to which node. You set up the entire thing through the eero app, and the entire process takes a few minutes. The system also receives automatic security updates in the background, so once you set it up, you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. If you're covering a larger home or want more nodes, the 3-pack is $329.99 and the 4-pack is $479.98, both at similar discount levels. It's worth mentioning that a newer model exists, which is likely the reason for the discount, but the Pro 6E is still perfectly capable hardware for most homes.
