Might be a bit offtopic, but as for this guy who is currently wrench holder number 1:

That guy's a hacker. He used to friend me earlier this year, he entered our community's servers and signed up as an admin. Shortly after they first suspended his admin rights, then banned him for hacking. Following that, he begins impersonating a player in my community (5e) for some time and continues to do so. After being banned from our servers for a while he came back out of the blue to accuse this guy he's impersonating of airblast hacking. Then after being virtually mocked out of the community for stirring up BS, he returns to gloat about him being the first to grab a wrench.

For starters:

Now back on topic: As for the other guys, 'grats to them... if they were legitimate. Another one might have been owned by a hacker too. Not sure if the wrenches will stick; I overheard someone in-game say that Valve will remove them.

The only thing we know about the wrenches, is that there was a bug when they were given out (i.e. most of the people have Wrench No. 1, one guy has Wrench No. 2 and another Wrench No. 3) I can see the numbers being fixed, not having the items taken away. Valve doesn't punish players for their item mistakes (like when the server craps out and gives everybody hats every few seconds)

Most of the responses to the wrenches I've seen, is along the lines of "That's awesome, I'll idle to try to get one". They seem to be so rare that people don't have any hope at all of getting one unless they idle (10 people a day get one, there are thousands of people playing every day)

How pointless. Why can't they just get on to the actual content of the update instead of messing around with this? The real content is months overdue.

I'm just grateful we get any extra content at all, and even better than that, it's free. I don't really mind how much time it takes them, I've already accepted Valve and their weird time system :p

Valve has no obligation to do these updates. You should be grateful that they are.

It's not so much that i'm not grateful. It's just that it's been nearly 7 months(and will be 7 months by the time it hits) since the last update. And if they have more than like 3 people working on it(and i'd think they would), it really shouldn't take that long to make 3 new items, put together a new map or two, and then throw in a couple maps made by the community as per usual.

It says 75 will be found through crafting... how do you craft it, I wonder?

Valve employees generally work across titles. Robin Walker (the man behind Team Fortress 2), for instance, was the project lead for Episode One. The entire Team Fortress 2 team helped the Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 teams as well. I don't think they've ever said how many people are working on Team Fortress 2 continuously, but it isn't much based off of what they've said.

I always feel like this for a while when Valve teases updates.

Then I take a minute to think about Valve's undying enthusiasm for this game and how far they've extended it since it's release at absolutely no charge to the user...unlike a certain developer I know. *cough*Infinity Ward*cough*

Valve time is something we all are forced to accept to at one time or another. :p

Revenge crits = awesome! Get some revenge at spies harassing my sentry. :p

However, it might seem a bit overpowered when a guy who built their sentry in a good choke point racks up dozens of kills, gets their sentry blown up, and then pairs up with a uber medic and starts killing just about everyone.

So Uber Engineer is now a valid tactic? WIN.

Okay, so I found a site that claims you can craft the Golden Wrench. Here's the recipe: Class Token (Engineer) + Slot Token (Melee) + Scrap Metal = Golden Wrench

My problem is that there doesn't seem to be a way to create an Engineer Class Token. Anyone know how?

    • Epic Games says Unreal Engine 6 will help developers "build content faster" using AI models by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Epic Games is rolling out the latest major update to Unreal Engine 5 today, and at the same time, the company also dropped some information on the next-generation version of the product, Unreal Engine 6. This was already revealed a few weeks ago alongside the new Rocket League upgrade reveal. The company says it is combining the features of Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create this new version of its popular media creation tool. On top of creating entire games, the new engine will also focus on letting developers operate large-scale live service titles more easily, whether by shipping content into their own ecosystems or into Fortnite. The use of large language models is also mentioned here, with Epic saying it will be a core part of the engine. "We see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need," adds the company. Here is the rundown of what's new about version 6 of Unreal Engine: With all these changes to the programming model, portability upgrades, and generative AI integration, Epic says the new version of the engine will "change a lot about how games are made." The company aims to ship Unreal Engine 6 into early access in late 2027, with a full release planned for 12-18 months later. Epic Games also dropped a lengthy blog post about the new Unreal Engine 5.8 update for game developers over here. The release is focused on delivering better performance, customization, and streamlined workflows for development teams. This will be the final major update for this version of the engine before Epic switches to focus fully on Unreal Engine 6's early access launch.
    • Watch Louis Rossmann's recent experience on YouTube about trying to get a warranty replacement from Samsung. It's crazy.
    • That is the thing, how many of these people don't realise they are using AI? If they use Google Search they have no choice but to use AI. So yes, maybe half of American adults do use and I expect a lot of Uk adults do to, but I bet most of them don't realise it. Myself, i avoid the rubbish.
    • They use FREE AI. They aren't paying for this meme-generating slopware...
    • Gotta' buy that there Rufus guy a beer if I ever meet him. He makes good stuff.
