Last night I proved why moving sentries can be a bad idea. On dustbowl second stage, on blue I safely built a level 3 at my spawn, picked it up, and snuck behind enemy lines. Place it at red's spawn and proceeded to spawn camp for a good 5 minutes. My team even joined me eventually.

Was it a ****ty tactic? Of course. I mainly did it to prove a point and I'm not happy with the results of how easy it was to pull off....

i dunno if this is a glitch that only happens on offline practice but on dust bowl stage 1 i managed to build a sentry and level it up inside the blu spawn on the stairs near the top.

Sentry Jumping - Brought to you by an Engy wielding the Wrangler, giving an engineer advanced movement tactics that allow him to get to high places with a single sentry (granted, a single lvl 3 sentry....not that hard considering you can carry them around with you now).

Also, setup is infinitely easier than before due to moving buildings. Drop it outside spawn - Hit cabinet and refill metal - Upgrade to next level or building - Carry it to front lines.

There is a very small area at the top of the stairs that the no build zone has missed. It has been around since the beginning beta releases. There is also another area at the far right exit by the sign.

Well done Valve. Well done. (N)

I can't see one balanced game these days apart from SC2. Seriously, every developer is out of ideas and just throws in what he can find?

Dude, this is the second day of the update, they test new things, and then if they seem overpowered nerf them correspondingly. At least they go and do that.

Team Fortress 2

Fixed an exploit that allowed Engineers to build level 2/3 mini sentries. ---- cries.gif

Fixed a bug that allowed sapped buildings to be picked up by the Engineer

Fixed a bug where Wrangled level 3 sentryguns would still fire rockets when they were out of ammo.

Fixed a bug where players would go into reference poses when switching classes while carrying a building.

Fixed seeing the changeclass label in the spectator HUD when using cl_hud_minmode.

The amount of revenge crits a player can have at one time is now capped at 35.

The Wrangler no longer shows the shotgun's ammo count.

Engineers can no longer pick up buildings while stunned or in loser state.

Fixed Engineer shotgun and piston not using team skins for the Engineer's arms.

Fixed an issue where Wrangled sentrygun effects wouldn't be attached to the sentrygun.

The Gunslinger 3 hit combo now only increments the combo count when hitting enemy players.

Fixed a crash in the control point progress bar.

Fixed a server crash in the player death code, related to building carrying.

Fixing performance spikes that occur at round start, and after each point capture, when TFBots are present in the server.

Achievement fixes:

The "Rio Grind" achievement limit is now correctly set to 50.

Fixed a typo in Six-String Stinger achievement name.

Fixed a bug in the "Death Metal" achievement that caused it to rapidly complete itself.

Fixed getting the Six-String Stinger achievement without playing the guitar.

Fixed sentrygun detection code in "Best Little Slaughterhouse in Texas" and "Deputized".

Missed notes from yesterday's release:

New response rules and sounds added for some classes

Civilian bug lives on... even after today's patch

Are you sure? As I am shown in the chat log on that video toward the end. I didn't get the update until I closed off the Neowin Server so I doubt the server was running the new patch nor were you at that time.

Absolutely sure :) Just finished doing it now

All these new weapons are pretty fun. I really like the Frontier Justice, as well as the Gunslinger (mini sentries are very useful at times, but certainly can't see that being the main melee for many). The Wrangler is obviously neat as well. Pretty nice update (Y)

Now get rid of the crappy new menu, Valve (N)

Just loaded this up and am really liking the Engineer changes, though if I was playing some other class I could see it being really grating due to the sheer number of engineers playing. Also spent a few hours playing Prop Hunt with friends, forgot how much fun that game mode was xD

Yeah, Thats the only problem at the moment, because of the update everyone is playing the updated class to get achievements and what not. Therefore being anything other than heavy + medic or demoman is impossible xD

Some payload maps are impossible at the moment with 8 sentries firing 200 rounds at you the moment you inch in to view.

Yeah they are. Hopefully it'll die down a bit soon. The servers I've been on so far do have class limits, but you can use up server points to buy class immunity, so there's still 4-5 engi's on each team.

Things Valve claims they fixed, but not really:

Civilian Engie (see my video above)

Mini level 2/3 sentries. They are still quite possible, here's how...

1. Open up PDA and select sentry, but don't build yet

2. Switch load out to Gunslinger, touch supply cabinet

3. Build, Upgrade to level 3

4. Pick it up, and place where you would like

5. ???

6. PROFIT!

is the gunslinger a random drop or you have to do something to get it?

    • Who is paying for this 30x scale-up? Its sounds expensive.
    • Millions of users to benefit from Windows 11's new performance boost on Adobe Photoshop by Sayan Sen Despite the advent of AI-generated imagery, Adobe's Photoshop remains one of the most popular tools on this planet. Adobe does not have a publicly reported total user count but it's probably not wrong to assume there are millions. As of 2025, Adobe Creative Cloud has had approximately 41 million paid subscribers, many of whom likely use Photoshop. In addition, more than 166,000 companies worldwide are apparently also using the app. These figures are according to a very recent report by SQ Magazine. Out of them, it is fair to assume that many are probably running Windows. As such, there is good news for these users as Microsoft has announced Photoshop is getting a big 20% performance boost on x86-64 (AMD64) systems and a 13% bump-up on Arm devices. This is definitely great news for them as many have complained about the slow performance and general sluggishness of Photoshop on Windows 11 ever since the advent of the latter back in 2021. If you are wondering how Microsoft managed to do this, the answer lies in a combination of compiler-level optimizations and a technology called Sample Profile Guided Optimization (SPGO). According to Microsoft, Adobe worked closely with the company’s Visual C++ team and adopted the latest MSVC toolchain enhancements together with SPGO to squeeze more performance out of Photoshop’s CPU-bound workloads. Unlike traditional Profile Guided Optimization (PGO), which requires developers to create special instrumented builds and run lengthy training workloads, SPGO gathers performance data directly from optimized release binaries. This means Adobe could collect real-world usage information which gives a major advantage to this technique, as companies could leverage data collected from actual customer workloads rather than only relying on synthetic benchmark runs. In theory, this should allow optimizations to better reflect how users interact with software in the real world. Thanks to this, there are improvements to code layout, function inlining, hot-and-cold code separation, and other low-level tweaks that help processors execute instructions more efficiently. Essentially the compiler is better able to identify “hot” code paths, those which are most frequently executed, and optimize them accordingly.
    • "The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months¨ I'd prefer to see the lowest price in over a year
    • Glad these prices are starting to come down, but that is still crazy. I bought the 2TB 9100 Pro (slightly more expensive version with PCIe 5.0) last year for $240.
    • The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months by Sayan Sen Yesterday, we covered a really good deal wherein you can get a 4TB TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD for a low price of just $400 with a special discount coupon. That's just $100 per TB, making it a very good offer during these hard times. The deal is still live, so you can check it out in its dedicated article here if you do not want to miss out. Meanwhile, if you don't have that kind of budget but still wish to buy an SSD for a good price, the 2TB variant of the TeamGroup SSD at $280 its lowest price in over three months. Meanwhile, those seeking 2TB but faster performance can check out Samsung's 990 PRO, which has hit the lowest price also in the last quarter or so, as it's on sale for $370 (purchase links under the specs table down below). Thus, you want a faster drive, get the 990 Pro, or you want more capacity, grab the TeamGroup 4TB linked in the first para. The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $500. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more.
