Another update: 66.4 MB. I wonder what it is for?

If you still haven't seen the changelog yet:

Team Fortress 2

Fixed missing class descriptions on the class menu blackboard.

Fixed a server crash related to carrying buildings.

Fixed a HUD element issue in DX8.

I played it for a couple hours so far. CTF_2Fort with like 10 engineers on each team lol

Then the admins switched to one of the new maps where you push the cart. Both maps were really fun to play as engineer. I already got the new Shotgun which is excellent, plays really well. I love being able to move sentries and things.

This is how I've changed my play style.

1. Build Teleporter entrance, go to other base, put Teleporter exit.

2. Go back to spawn, build Sentry, make it level 3

3. Pick up Sentry, take it through the Teleporter, plant it somewhere with Low-Medium traffic

4. Sit back and laugh

  1. Build a level 3 sentry
  2. Change to the gunslinger
  3. Pickup your sentry
  4. Place level 3 mini-sentry

I was wondering why there were smaller level 3 sentries.

This is the bomb cart dispenser all over again :p

Yeah the achievement culture has ruined games to a point.

Don't worry, in about a month, once everyone has all the weapons, all will be back to normal, that's the way it has been since they started tying achievements with weapon drops. At least now, you can receive a new weapon with drops. I found a Frontiersman about 5 minutes after getting milestone one.

So for those who want the Wrangler, but you haven't been lucky enough to get it, I found a way to craft it.

3 Class Weapons = Class Token

Class Token + Frontier Justice = Engineer Token

3 Secondary Slot Weapons = Secondary Slot Token

Engineer Token + Secondary Slot Token + 1 Scap Metal = the Wrangler

I really think Valve needs to rework the crafting system. I had to give up a **** load of other weapons to be able to get this. Yes, I know I could have just waited, but hell it took me months before I ever found Natasha.

I am a little confused on something though. Do the achievements really matter? Or did they go back to giving out the weapons when milestones are achieved? If so, I'll start focusing on those again.

[edit] I did love playing in a 2-fort server last night and three of us engineers built sentries in our hay room. A fourth engineer built a teleporter in the other team's intel room. We picked up our sentries and moved them over deployed them and won the game in minutes  It was beautiful. It also didn't hurt that the other team was a bunch or morons.

Yeah I have the new shotgun now too. :) It's not much, but it's something. :p

Yeah the milestones still give you the weapons. :)

Last night I proved why moving sentries can be a bad idea. On dustbowl second stage, on blue I safely built a level 3 at my spawn, picked it up, and snuck behind enemy lines. Place it at red's spawn and proceeded to spawn camp for a good 5 minutes. My team even joined me eventually.

Was it a ****ty tactic? Of course. I mainly did it to prove a point and I'm not happy with the results of how easy it was to pull off....

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
