I get about less 20 fps. My main computer's motherboard went out so im on the laptop with a Radeon X1300 :p . dxlevel 8 and 640 x 480 with all settings on low. Sad thing is that im still playing good. I been on the Neowin Server a few times, fun games unless it starts hitting the max number of people them my fps craps out with all the action on screen.

At what ms does the lag start becoming noticeable? I haven't played PC FPS games in years so I have no idea of what is a decent ping anymore.

In most [fps] games it starts to become noticeable at around 80-100ms. And anything above that the enjoyment of a game pretty much starts to disappear imo.

The ping compensation that games like tf2(and others) makes high pings even more difficult to stand. As the constant seeing of hits from shots you know you missed will throw you off a bit.

^At around what time? Each time I was there I saw a few unfamiliar players.

Also, the building exploits for the engineer have been fixed. So no level 3 mini-sentries for you guys anymore :p

Capric0rn: Look in the evening (European time) - there've been quite a few people on yesterday after 23:00 CEST for instance.

Changelog for yesterday's update:

Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source and Day of Defeat: Source Updates Released

Updates to Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source and Day of Defeat: Source have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Engine

  • Increased the resilience of client/server data table mismatches when playing back demos. This will make most old demo files playable again, but with potential visual side effects

Team Fortress 2

  • Updated CP_Coldfront
    • Added map to the default mapcycle and motd files.
    • Fixed a server crash issue related to increased maxplayer servers.
    • Fixed a couple Engineer building exploits.

    [*]Updated the localization files.

[*]Improved the performance of the critboost particle effect.

[*]Fixed a server crash related to carrying buildings at round start.

[*]Fixed players picking up buildings before a round has started.

[*]Fixed an exploit where Engineers could create level 3 mini-sentries.

Going back to the ping talk, I don't know how you guys can play with 100 or higher ping......higher than 80 is almost unplayable for me. But, I play lots of soldier and pyro (both suffer from high ping due to no lag compensation on their primary weapons) so too high a ping is definitely noticeable and would require you to aim even farther ahead to be able to hit a target. While I admit that over 80 isn't that bad for hitscan weapons, it is absolutely horrible for projectile-based weapons. I personally try to play on servers with around 40 ping, that way if it does increase a little bit, it generally stays under 60....but the most I will willingly play in is around 80.

Thanks to a 14% discount, you can buy this all-metal 4K webcam from Acer for just $59.99. Despite the affordable price tag, the webcam has a pretty large 1/2" CMOS sensor manufactured by Sony. Plus, the camera ensures you do not have to buy additional audio equipment, as it comes with two built-in high-sensitivity microphones, a built-in background noise filter, and the ability to pick up your voice from up to 2.5 meters away. Acer is not cheaping out on materials, and the webcam is enclosed in a more premium metal case, which is also good at heat dissipation (high-resolution cameras can get quite hot).
