UK Teen Tied To Tree and Forced to Drink Petrol

Recommended Posts

A 17-year-old boy died after being tied to a tree, made to drink petrol and then set on fire, detectives have said.

Post-mortem tests showed that Simon Everitt, of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, died as a result of inhaling combustible fluid, police said. Officers said the teenager's body had been buried in a ditch.

Simon vanished from Great Yarmouth on June 7. His remains were found in Mautby, Norfolk, three weeks later.

Three people have been charged with his murder. Jimi Lee Stewart, 24, and Maria Chandler, 40, both of Great Yarmouth, and Johnathan Clarke, 19, of Telford, Shropshire, are due before Norwich Crown Court on July 14.

Detectives launched a murder inquiry more than a week before finding Simon's remains after receiving a "tip-off".

Simon's father, Vince, 44, an entertainer from Great Yarmouth, had appealed for help in finding the teenager.

Mr Everitt said his son, who was studying engineering, had a "heart of gold".

The teenager was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire, and grew up in Bishop Auckland, Durham. He and his father moved to Great Yarmouth four years ago.

Police said he was last seen outside the James Paget Hospital at Gorleston, near Great Yarmouth.

This was all over the news last night. Horrible, horrible way to die.

I'd like to think I'm a moderate person but... with the current rise in senseless beatings and knife crimes, I'd be willing to support zero tolerance for this type of behaviour. Instantly in jail, for 1 / 5 / 10 years, and that's it. No benefits, publicly named, national service.

Damn, I'm turning into a Nazi :(

Thats one sick way of killing people. How nuts do you have to be to think of that kinda stuff :s

Could I play the "videogames" card here? Sure, to sane people those sick games do nothing. But those who are nuts surely find inspiration in movies and games. With some movies/games I do think "how nuts do you hve to be to think that kind of stuff" too.

Yep, that's the sort of culture we've got in the UK now. If it's not senseless knife or gun attacks, it's more twisted ways of hurting/killing people.

Something really must be done. But we can't count on Cameron, who wants to play the sensitive tory, and will aim his policies on broken homes rather than punishing the people out there, doing this. We also can't count on Brown, while he could be harsher on crime, he hasn't shown any willingness to sort things out on the streets.

My advice would be to introduce conscription to instil discipline, but then pull out of Iraq (we don't want the youth turning in to psychological victims of war, nor the headlines about funding the human cost of the war). Give the police permanent presence on estates with especially high crime rates, and include some limited army support (2 police/1 soldier). Cut the red tape and give the police more powers to be tougher on criminals. Also increase the school-leaving age to 18.

We need serious change in the UK or we'll see more twisted stuff like this. We need an effective government that isn't afraid to do things that will generate negative headlines in the tabloids - New Labour simply doesn't cut it.

You can't say "Oh, kids these days"....When I was younger I didn't live in the best place of the town...The amount of 'smacked's' Ive seen being slotted with bats, planks of wood or just throwing bricks threw the windows it was just a weekly basis :ninja:

Always a house on fire....Electric Avenue :p

But towns like that were more the exception then the rule, nowadays it's more the rule then the exception.

Seriously, it takes some seriously twisted ****** to actually go ahead and make the kid drink petrol. To be honest, the government is doing absolutely jack **** about it. Crappy immigration policies (I'm all for a diverse culture but ffs, we can't host the world on an island), ridiculous inflation and kids stabbing each other for the fun of it. If I had the money I'd probably get me and my family out of this country. England just isn't what it used to be, and it's a damn shame.

    • Google's new hand-wave reCAPTCHA can be bypassed with a stock photo by Ivan Jenic Image: Screenshot Google is testing a new reCAPTCHA method that asks you to wave at your camera to prove you're human. So, besides solving puzzles and reading distorted text, you can now use your computer’s camera to pass the verification test. When the hand gesture verification is triggered, your browser asks for camera access and prompts you to perform a simple gesture, like a wave or an open palm. Google says it records a short video of the movement and uses AI to extract 21 hand-knuckle coordinates to complete the verification process. The video is then immediately deleted, and Google swears it doesn't keep it. The process alone can be uncomfortable for people who wouldn’t want their biometric data, which hand scans technically qualify as, recorded. But it gets even more nuanced, as early testers discovered that the new hand-waving reCAPTCHA can be passed with a simple stock image. A user on X tested the new challenge using a stock image of a hand fed through OBS Virtual Camera, and it passed. I wanted to verify it, so I tried the same thing. It took me a few tries and a few stock images, but in the end, I was also able to pass the test. I simply had to readjust the stock image of a generic person waving inside OBS, and Google’s mechanism registered it as a legitimate hand gesture. Once again, it didn’t even have to be a video or an AI-generated hand animation. Given the simplicity of the process, the entire action can be automated in minutes. All it takes is a simple Python script to render the new reCAPTCHA method obsolete. And it doesn’t even have to be an AI bot, which is usually used for solving puzzles and other verification methods. The new reCAPTCHA method is still in its early phase, and Google will, hopefully, update its AI to at least reject still images. However, this incident, combined with users’ initial skepticism about Google’s practices regarding user data, likely won’t make too many people wave at the camera anytime soon.
    • 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "to fund healthcare and tuition" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Who do you think you are talking about, some COMMUNIST? We are better than them, doG bless Murica!!! p.s. I'm from a country where government does exactly that, i.e. not form US.
    • Apparently not. I know it is on Edge for business at the moment, but how long will it be before it become on the home version of Edge?
    • Microsoft details new Edge for Business security features, including AI-powered scareware detection So Edge is adding a "scarecrow." Will it be animated?
    • I have this one and it's great, also paired with a Mac. I like the white back aesthetics of it and ability to have all your wireless usb peripherals under a clean lid. 4K @ 120 Hz and 65W usb-c charging is not bad even at its typical price point. The U series is probably better for commercial photo work though; IIRC one reason this one is priced in a different bracket is because it's not calibrated and verified for optimal color accuracy. Not something I think of in daily use, coding, and light gaming though.
