So this is confirmation that MS has shifted all of its gaming focus to the 360. Games for Windows was a glorious bust. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, though. They should hand over the reins to the PC market to Valve and the STEAM network. maybe even help them out a little bit to integrate things more fully into Windows.

Play from hard drive is huge for me. Stop having to listen to my 360 cut my grass every time I play a game!

However, HELLO MS? Many reasons to need/use a hard drive, please hand me my balls and wallet back with your hard drives :p

why are they promoting installable games on the 360?

the disk size is not large enough... and it's not user-upgradable... seems like a good way to run out of space quick

And the fact you still need the disc in the tray doesn't really make the advantages really worth it imo...

I am pretty sure it will be optional. And it doesn't sound like a game-specific feature more like what they already do with sme Games for Windows titles.

I have over 60GB free on my Elite console that I really have no use for. I have over 30 GB in Demos that I'm just too lazy to delete and don't need. Installable games as an optional feature to reduce load times and quiet the admittedly loud 360 is one of the greatest features on the 360 since 1080p support, IMO. :p

Plus it's not like it is going to be required a la PS3, I think we can be pretty sure of that. I just hope it works for previously released titles, I'd really only do it for Halo 3 and maybe one or two other games, maybe.

Quicker loading and less noise. Good advantages for me!

Some people, ie me, can't stand the noise the game makes when being read. That and load times make it worth while. I don't see needing to insert the disk as a huge disadvantage.

Guys, I have a quick question. One of the huge announcements for me was the fact with the social movies watching (Home anybody :p). How can Hollywood let this go. This screams of copyright this and that, that Hollywood has been complaining about for years.

How is this going to get by?

Simple. Everyone needs their own Netflix.

installing games to the hard drive is probably part of the reason why there upgrading to 60gig on the premium, and due to people starting to run low by now. still for people who want to install games the elite sounds like it would be better with 120gig, and you might as well install only your favorite games so you dont have to eat up too much space.

Play from hard drive looks awesome!

Quick question, is noise (DVD drive) still a big problem with new 360s? I sold mine on December and will be buying one shortly, wanted to know if this is still happening or not.

I beleive there are 4 different 360 drives out, Samsung, Hitachi, BenQ and Lite-on, all of them sound about the same (i havnt heard a lite-on though, beleive it is just about as loud). If you wanted, there are ways to quiet the drive through firmware modifications, but you would have to search around for how to do that yourself.

I'll probably put my main favourite games that take a while to load (rockband) on the HDD, not games like halo where the game loads quickly.

All this until there's a bigger HDD around, I'm not buying a 60gig or 120gig Hard Drive and then watch a larger HDD be announced.

I didnt get all that part but if it's part of Netflix then I guess they all need a subscription or maybe the 1st guy is paying for additional usage.

If its for the XBox store then I imagine it would be a service that works with store content and DRM can be used to manage it so a number of users max can view it.

Wont be the 1st time MS has let people "share" drm media anyway. They do it with the Zunes Wi-fi where you get a time limited playback from media shared between devices if I recall correctly (or maybe I don't :p).

So now installing is a good thing, right?

As long as its not manditory and you can play the game with or without installing it..
