My take on this all...

Sony got some major, major work to do now.

I think Sony needs to just completely drop any casual attempts, and really be the Hardcore platform. That might be there only hope.

And yes, I realize I am saying this before Sony even gets a chance to speak, but what are they going to talk about, their online service that they still have not released yet??

Seriously, MS is basically releasing something just as if not more effective than Home, with the fact you can do the whole Primetime aspect, apparantly before Home even comes out if they get it out this fall, and that is just a pretty huge blow. Like it or not, it is.

Basically, Sony needs to drop any casual attempts and really be the platform for the hardcore gamer, they are never going to catch up to MS or Nintendo. Perhaps they may, and I will eat these words, but it seriously is not looking good for them now on the casual front.

And I personally could care less about the casual side of things, that is not me, but it appears the factor in this generation did not come down to how powerful, etc. etc., it may have come down to how accessible.

I HOPE Sony makes me eat my words and blows me away with something amazing, but as of now, I am not holding my breath.

Bold words right there. MS hasn't even released half of it's casual strategy. And let's not forget Sony used to be the kings of casual.

Larry, I think you are giving this update a little to much credit saying it's just as effective as Home :/ All it is, is effectively avatars on a 3D/2D morphed Dashboard.

Although I do agree, more hardcore tomorrow Sony, and release Home this fall guaranteed. Bioshock PS3 coverart has the Home logo which has spurted rumours of a september/october release of Home.

This is a huge blow (coming from a Sony fan). It makes me wonder that Sony didn't at least see this coming or have something else in line, wait & see.

Apparently SquareEnix didn't get the memo regarding the Japanese market. After almost 3 years, the 360 has sold what, roughly 800,000 systems? Do they plan on giving away the 360 with this game?

indeed

I wonder if they'll even mention the 'new controller' rumor that's been floating around for a while.

Im sure they want to sell this game to the largest market possible, that means selling it like salmon sushi on the PS3 in Japan and selling it like hotcakes on the 360 here in America...

I agree DL. Sony have been living two years behind Microsoft. Everyone was happy when Firmware v2.40 finally arrived and Sony touted it as something new.......but Microsoft had those features in 2005 when the XBOX360 launched

Sony have to come up with the goods tomorrow or else they will have nothing. It serves them right for promoting the PS3 as a Blu-ray player first and gaming machine second then suddenly rememeber they need games for it.

I think there will be alot of angry PS3 fans about that FXIII announcement.

Im sure they want to sell this game to the largest market possible, that means selling it like salmon sushi on the PS3 in Japan and selling it like hotcakes on the 360 here in America...

yeah... SquareEnix is going to make some crazy money by doing this - haha

It's a bit hard when they don't have the exclusives to do it and just lost one of their three biggest exclusives today (I see the Big three as Final Fantasy, Grand Turismo and MGS...you could argue GOW in there too).

Anyway MS hasn't released these casual titles yet and of those many will find their way onto the PS3 or have equivalents. I think if Sony is to succeed they can't narrow their scope that early or it will be harder to push titles. I mean it's not like MS hasn't got hardcore games.

I realise MS didn't announce alot for the hardcore gamer but they didn't have to. All those titles are already known besides the Bungee one and they have that field pretty much catered for for at least the next 6 - 12 months. Delaying the Bungee announcement probably isn't a bad idea as it strengtherns the blow which is Final Fantasy plus come a day or so will serve as somewhat of a distraction to whatever Sony announces.

I dont think hardcore gamers should be disappointed. Sure nothing much new was there besides FF but we're so well catered for this year that it hardly matters and getting more casual gamers will strengthen the consoles future in a huge way. Hell it's cheaper than a Wii now in Australia so they definitely are on the attack of the Wii and after today the PS3 seems somewhat cornered too.

Goodness :o

Dear Xbox LIVE Member,[/b]>

When we launched Xbox 360 in November 2005, Xbox LIVE was integrated directly into the console. Back then, Xbox 360 was the first system to deliver access to experiences beyond just the disc in the tray. With the Xbox guide and dashboard you had access to everything on your console as well as your community.

We also imagined that Xbox experience would continuously improve over time, through the power of software.

Since launch, you?ve always pushed us to continuously innovate. It is because you spoke with one loud voice that we added new features like background downloading, 1080p support, movies and TV shows, video chat, a Marketplace blade and instant messaging.

Over time, as we?ve delivered more and more content into the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, we?ve heard from many of you that it has become increasingly difficult to find the games and content you want.

And that brings us to today.

Because of your feedback, we started rethinking the entire Xbox experience. What we discovered was that we could not only provide a better experience for you, but also something that reaches out to new audiences.

What John Schappert unveiled for the world on stage at E3 was just a sneak preview, so I wanted to share some deeper details on some of the new features in the new Xbox experience.

Here is a look at some additional features you will find interestingPlay from hard drive. ve. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. • I like Tidal, but it still does not control devices from the mobile/app and still no surround support. And yeah re: above comment I still get a lot of network errors and I am on a 4/4 Gbit Fiber connection.
    • Aren`t "security features" and "AI model that can see your screen" a tad diametric!
    • Samsung, Amazon extend 990 PRO 2TB NVMe SSD deal beyond Prime Day 2026 by Sayan Sen Recently, we had Amazon's Prime Day 2026 sales wherein there were several great deals including on SSDs. One of those discounted components was the Samsung 990 PRO SSD as the 2TB variant of it was selling for $370, a very good price after a long time. Although that deal was supposed to expire today, Amazon has now extended that sale further (purchase link under the specs table down below). The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $400. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more. The technical specs of the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB are given in the table below: Specification Value Form Factor M.2 2280 Interface PCIe Gen 4.0 x4, NVMe 2.0 NAND Flash Samsung V-NAND TLC Controller Samsung In-house Controller Cache Memory Samsung 2GB Low Power DDR4 SDRAM Sequential Read Speed Up to 7,450 MB/s Sequential Write Speed Up to 6,900 MB/s Random Read (4KB, QD32) Up to 1,400,000 IOPS Random Write (4KB, QD32) Up to 1,550,000 IOPS Random Read (4KB, QD1) Up to 22,000 IOPS Random Write (4KB, QD1) Up to 80,000 IOPS Operating Temperature 0°C to 70°C Reliability (MTBF) 1.5 Million Hours Endurance 1,200 TBW (Total Bytes Written) Get it at the link below: Samsung 990 PRO SSD 2TB NVMe SSD (MZ-V9P2T0B/AM): $369.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified.
