Not user upgradeable huh ?... really...

yeah... you have to buy the MS proprietary drive. I think the biggest there is atm is 120gb (could be wrong).

afaik, the PS3 is the only system that has a user upgradable HDD - meaning you can use any 2.5" SATA drive

So now installing is options are a good thing, right?

Fixed that for you. Nice how you put a spin to it though. It's about being able to get in and play right away or, if it's a game that you're probably going to be going at a lot, installing it. I know options is kind of an alien concept on the PS side of things, but try to understand.

Play from hard drive looks awesome!

Quick question, is noise (DVD drive) still a big problem with new 360s? I sold mine on December and will be buying one shortly, wanted to know if this is still happening or not.

They have gotten a tad quieter, but they are still relatively loud.

I'll probably put my main favourite games that take a while to load (rockband) on the HDD, not games like halo where the game loads quickly.

All this until there's a bigger HDD around, I'm not buying a 60gig or 120gig Hard Drive and then watch a larger HDD be announced.

Yea, Rock Band would probably be another title that I would put up there as well. But I think Halo deserves to go up there even though it does load fairly quickly. The main reason being the noise (it is pretty loud for Halo 3) especially when the party is quiet while waiting for a matchmade game to load up. Plus the maps can sometimes take a while to load (for custom games) so that would be another plus.

always was IMHO. Hell MS has copped plenty of slack for not having HD's as standard which made installing not an option. Not that all agree, but I've wanted it as an option since day one...and now I do. Yay

 Brilliant post (Y)

See the laughing face? Try to understand that first (Y)

FINALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

16:10 support!

Play from hard drive is awesome, too. I'm glad they're doing that... I think I'm going to get a 120GB HD now specifically for that!

(Before anyone says anything, I've said that it was a useful feature all along, for PS3 or 360.)

EDIT: I am now officially super psyched for this update! :D :D :D

If the PS3 is the only onewith a user upgradeable HDD, let's try an experiment, giver your mom and grandma the tools too upgrade a PS3 HDD and a 360 HDD and see wich one they actually manage to upgrade. I'm putting my money on the one that requires no tools, cables or opening stuff to replace :)

I'll like to see a 360 with a 250gb drive ;)

If you can't replace the PS3 hard drive you aren't an old person, you're a complete fail.

The official manual explains how to update, and it's ridiculously easy.

All you need is a screwdriver to remove ONE screw. Everything else slides in, no cables.

I'm pretty sure even an old person would be capable of taking out one screw.

And anyway, how many old people are buying 360 and PS3s.... :/

Does anyone else think that Microsoft just had the BEST E3 conference in the history of ever?

If you're into FF and don't own, or want to buy a PS3, yes.

If not, not really.

Very casual heavy.

HDD install means Mass Effect + Grand Theft Auto IV + Install = No Popup = Xbox 360 wins

Ah, yes! GTA, I forgot!

So my install list would be:

Halo 3

GTA IV

Rock Band

Those are my most frequently played games. Everything else I can deal with the usual load times. :D

I just hope these installs will be supported for previously released games. Has this been confirmed yet? Anybody know?

I don't think it was the BEST ever.. but it was a great way to start E3.. that is for sure.

not a over-whelming amount of info.. but very good - solid info. Especially the update... good job MS  (and this is coming from a sony fan :p)

    • If I could, I would commemorate it the best way possible: Replacing old machines that are still running Windows XP with something more modern, stable and better.     Noone and nothing should be running Windows XP in 2026.
    • Google's new hand-wave reCAPTCHA can be bypassed with a stock photo by Ivan Jenic Image: Screenshot Google is testing a new reCAPTCHA method that asks you to wave at your camera to prove you're human. So, besides solving puzzles and reading distorted text, you can now use your computer’s camera to pass the verification test. When the hand gesture verification is triggered, your browser asks for camera access and prompts you to perform a simple gesture, like a wave or an open palm. Google says it records a short video of the movement and uses AI to extract 21 hand-knuckle coordinates to complete the verification process. The video is then immediately deleted, and Google swears it doesn't keep it. The process alone can be uncomfortable for people who wouldn’t want their biometric data, which hand scans technically qualify as, recorded. But it gets even more nuanced, as early testers discovered that the new hand-waving reCAPTCHA can be passed with a simple stock image. A user on X tested the new challenge using a stock image of a hand fed through OBS Virtual Camera, and it passed. I wanted to verify it, so I tried the same thing. It took me a few tries and a few stock images, but in the end, I was also able to pass the test. I simply had to readjust the stock image of a generic person waving inside OBS, and Google’s mechanism registered it as a legitimate hand gesture. Once again, it didn’t even have to be a video or an AI-generated hand animation. Given the simplicity of the process, the entire action can be automated in minutes. All it takes is a simple Python script to render the new reCAPTCHA method obsolete. And it doesn’t even have to be an AI bot, which is usually used for solving puzzles and other verification methods. The new reCAPTCHA method is still in its early phase, and Google will, hopefully, update its AI to at least reject still images. However, this incident, combined with users’ initial skepticism about Google’s practices regarding user data, likely won’t make too many people wave at the camera anytime soon.
    • 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "to fund healthcare and tuition" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Who do you think you are talking about, some COMMUNIST? We are better than them, doG bless Murica!!! p.s. I'm from a country where government does exactly that, i.e. not form US.
    • Apparently not. I know it is on Edge for business at the moment, but how long will it be before it become on the home version of Edge?
