Killzone 2

I do hope reviews talk about the bots, I think it's pretty cool this is the first console FPS to include fully working bots :)

huh? As opposed to not fully working bots?

You've played UT3/Shadowrun/RS right? There's more but those are the first three to mind..

Guys stop being lame and flipping out over a Swedish newspaper review

How often does anyone post/take to heart such reviews? (I've never seen this source before) Just a journalist with an opinion. I can find reviews of pretty much every big game that aren't automatically giving out full marks.

I do hope you are joking about that

No I haven't

First MP game I'm playing on a console with bots.

Just an oversight then, sorry, it's one of a few MP games on consoles with bots.

Not fully working bots can be displayed in TF2 :p

edit: Chill guys, just a mistake! As I said, first MP game I've played with bots.

wonder why they didnt give 5/5 ? why take 1 point out? co-op? cant it come later?

It's just a review! Get the game, be happy, move on.

I'll probably pick this game up, regardless of it getting 3/10 or 10/10 or 4 Star or whatever. Reviewers aren't gods.

I am chill ffs! Stop telling me to chill god damnit!

jokes

Was just pointing out there is others with bots (Y)

I was mainly talking to .KICK :p

Yeah I know, I had just forgotten, mainly as I haven't played the other titles.

My point still stands, I want to see reviewers talk about them as bots need to be fairly intelligent to make them worthwhile and not lame.

However it's still a big plus for me, I love practising with bots, make me feel good at an FPS :p Used to play a fair bit in my CS/TFC days.

Oh I am chilled, just for future, please double check what you write for posting :p

I find it funny you are getting super happy about the bots, I am more interested in other aspects of the game to be honest.

It is a shame it won't have Co-Op but I guess they have their reasons.

I find it funny you are getting super happy about the bots, I am more interested in other aspects of the game to be honest.

Yeah so am I, but I personally find bots useful to learning the game.

I ain't an FPS god, so it will make getting online a little easier for myself and others :p

Get to learn the maps/weapons and practice without torching my online stats on KZ.com ;) The guys said they're tracking over 100 things I think.

Tsk you're so anti-social AB, what about Neowin matches?!

I'll be there once I can aim

I hope you're not serious (N) edit: oh ffs, you guys are really gonna cry if everyone doesn't gives it 10/10 or 5/5? Seriously, grow up. Not everyone needs to love the GoW, Halo, KZ and LBP's.

Was that aimed at me also? I see no crying. O.o

I was simple pointing how i am not going to take a review from one small site that is barely about gaming as the downfall of gaming as we know it, and nor should anyone else.

And i'm hardly one who cares what reviewers or anyone else thinks, hello, i got Lair.

and yes I was serious about the shoe commet. :p

If it's got trophies (or has rumour of) it's in your collection ;)
it doesnt have trophies. :(

and i've stopped the aimlessly buying trophy games now, i've jumped a good bit ahead of other neowiners now so theres no challenge as it were to being first, lol.

I'll just spend trying to Platinum existing ones, and i've barely touched Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 so far.

Co-Op Rumour was about before, it's back again...

Killzone 2 to Be Patched with Co-Op Soon After Launch

7 weeks.

Thats how long we have until K-Day arrives when Killzone 2 finally launches on February 27th in the UK. With an epic story, a multiplayer which will rival that of Call of Duty 4 and graphics which are very close to Crysis like stuff, you cant help but be excited for Killzone 2.

But it seems that there are a few people miffed about one thing: no co-op in the game.

It probably wont bother most people that are buying the game that it doesnt have co-op but it will **** off a few peeps.

However, for both camps, good news, there will be co-op down the line according to Gurreilla Games.

According to a ‘GAFer who played the game at CES last week, a rep from GG said that a patch for online co-op will be made available later down the line after the launch of the game. He also mentioned the fact that the version he was playing a the finished Gold Master version of the game.

It was the same level that we’ve seen for quite a while. Game runs very smooth and the lighting is amazing (as we all know). The rep made a comment about not having split screen co-op due to the amount of data that’s streamed off the disc. He mentioned that they’re currently working on online co-op to be patched in at a later time. The controls were a little slow for me but I’m sure it’s just a quick sensitivity adjustment in the menu. Game looks great, especially on the new line of Bravias that they were setup on.

Hmm… wonder what the co-op experience will be like for Killzone 2, 4 man co-op?

Source: http://gamzsonev3.wordpress.com/2009/01/12...n-after-launch/

Sounds plausible, online co-op gets over the hurdle of the game/one PS3 having to output twice on the same TV - Something I think the devs would have found it hard/impossible to do with the technicalities of the game.

Seeing as you always have multiple team mates with you, 4 player would be cool, but I suspect 2 player if anything...

I would assume 2, from the trailers there always seems to be at least one other person with you.

Back in the day I found co-op to be an extra rather than a must, but nowadays and with how awesome games are getting, going through with a friend is always great, would definitely be great if it did come out.

Though this might go the same way as the LBP making levels on-line patch that never actually appeared, or the importing from hard drive that we even saw pictures from the devs that also hasn't appeared yet, maybe in good time.

What you guys on about? :p

It came from a rep/dev, so it's somewhat credible. My post is nothing of the standard of "my girlfriends dogs cousins goldfish".

Plus co-op coming later has been rumoured months before now,

Massive Killzone 2 Comparison: 2007 vs 2008 vs 2009

An aesthetic insight into the progression of a video game's development.

It's not often that you get to see a game three years in a row. With Killzone 2 we were "lucky" enough to have a glimpse in 2005 in the form of a CGI trailer.

There have been plenty of comparisons showing how close the actual game's graphics are to that trailer, but what about a comparison of the game's engine from early 2007 to its final 2009 build, via 2008?

Lots of improvements across the board, many you'll be unable to spot in this comparison, but you will notice shallow differences and huge improvements, especially when comparing 2009 to 2007.

There's a snapshot below, but find the full HD comparison after this link, provided by NeoGAF user iceatcs.

What's with the fruity yellow grenade trail / tail ?

Think its to try and help counter grenade spam in the MP.

As it's clearer/easier to see the grenades and where they're coming from.

While it's fun getting random grenade kills, it can be annoying when people just run around COD4 throwing grenades everywhere. We'll see how it balances out...

The grenades also have LEDs on them, but obviously an LED wouldn't cause a beam of light that cohesive.

I kind of like the look of the 2008 Preview Build more than the Final Review Build personally.

It doesn't look too bad, but you just know people would complain it was too dark.

Have a watch at this Larry - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G516I4EmTX4

Odd hearing his voice in a more serious manner than form the podcast.

BEYOND!

What's with the fruity yellow grenade trail / tail ?

To attract the Helgast, they like pretty colours, and also kittens and all manner of cute things, but that is never brought up in the games.

Hit response video has been released as an actual trailer now instead of just an off-cam filmed video

    • Ocenaudio 3.19.3 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display.
