Because they're Others!

For 1, they're not "others". we're talking about the 70s, and Richard and his people are likely the natives. The DI has put that fence in there to keep out "intruders". We seen it stop the Smoke, mu question was why it doesn't stop Richard and his people. As rappy said, maybe a secret way around it or sth. Was asking just in case I've missed something.

The Others are the natives, sheesh.

I'm confused.

We're literally meant to believe that when they crashed back onto the Island: Locke stayed in the present with the flight crew and Kate/Hurley/Jack went back into the 1970's?

I mean...really?

Well, think to yourself; who crashed and who just disappeared from the plane? They're 2 separate groups of people.

Earplugs only work on lower powers... Remember patchy had alot worse reaction... Whilst with that thought... Remember how they got over.. tree onto the pillar and climb over...

I can't fully remember but wasn't Patchy faking it?

The Others are the natives, sheesh.

"The others" is what the Oceanic Flight 815 survivors called the people who attacked them. (Ben and Juliet for example are not natives).

When richard said the fence didn't keep them out, he meant "the natives". Juliet had no idea how to circumvent that system, nor did Ben.

We never saw Amy turn the power up though. At this point we can only assume that the the power was left at the same until Horace told them to turn it to full power after Alpert "trespassed" onto their property.

Or am I missing some pieces of the show here?

Really? We're going to play this little word game? The Natives are the Others. DHARMA calls them natives, the survivors call them Others, they're the same group of people. Though Ben wasn't born on the island, he was the leader of the Natives, aka Others. Why are you dragging this trivial discussion out when it's obvious as to who we're talking about.

Patchy made the comment that he was fortunate that the fence was not set to a lethal level.

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
