Lost - Season 5

Recommended Posts

I consider myself a average Lost fan. I just watch the show for kicks, don't even consider myself as a fan but I do catch every episode.

But I'm completely lost here. It's really confusing when the show goes 3 years ahead, 3 years back, 10 years back, etc...

Can't imagine what other people are going through lolz.

But yeah, great show!

The problem with Time Travel, as far as our technology does NOT know everything, is that they can write it however they want!

The writers could write as they go. A plot hole? "No problem, we'll just use Time Travel to fix it"

There is really NO rule to Time Travel, you know?

They still make a great show though.

I LOVE Time Travel/Sci-Fi stuff whether or not we know it's truth!

I'm confused.

We're literally meant to believe that when they crashed back onto the Island: Locke stayed in the present with the flight crew and Kate/Hurley/Jack went back into the 1970's?

I mean...really?

As opposed to smoke monsters, people who die then come back to life, people who apaprently dont age??? :p

We don't know but remember Ben said once he turns that wheel he won't be able to return, remember Locke has done that now too. Perhaps this is what they meant by not returning.

I am sure it will get explained as this is one of the few shows i believe will give us a massive pay off in the end.

Nobody wondering how Jin was able to use his magic cellphone in the middle of the jungle to call swayer?

Not really, Jin worked in security so its safe to assume he was watching the islands CCTV cameras like the guys at the start which would also have a phone, he could have then gone to pick them up in the van.........

I think Ben just lied to Locke so he could get off the island and kill Penny, it proves it because both Ben and Locke returned, and both of them turned the wheel

Not really, Jin worked in security so its safe to assume he was watching the islands CCTV cameras like the guys at the start which would also have a phone, he could have then gone to pick them up in the van.........

Plus, there was nothing showing that it was 'in the middle of the jungle'? He could have stopped at a station to make the call.

This show is absolutely awesome and insane!! My brain hurts from trying to keep up with all this, but it's starting to piece together nicely and we'll have most, if not all the answers by the time it's over with. One thing I am fairly certain about is that statue. After reading this thread, it is clear that the statue is supposed to represent either Horus or Anubis. I'm leaning towards Horus. The fact that the hieroglyph for Horus is the exact same thing we saw on the countdown timer in the hatch is no coincidence. Plus, as someone also mentioned, that "ankh" that Paul had around his neck is also held by both. If you're still not convinced, how about the fact that there is a character named Horace! Isn't Horus pronounced Horace? If so, I think that's the writers dropping a hint. If not, it's still very close and still a hint. Maybe someone can correct me on that, cause I'm not exactly sure of the pronunciation.

I also think that the statue may not be of Horus, but a person that the inhabitants of the island perceive to be their Horus. Someone perhaps wearing the Horus garb. Reading up on this stuff, there's a lot of parallels between Horus and Jesus. There's a character on Lost that has a lot of parallels to both as well. A savior if you will. Someone that's special. Someone that the island healed upon arriving. Someone that is always one step ahead of everyone, feels at home and never wanted to leave. Someone that got the feeling that he's been there before and is now found. I think you see where I'm going with this.

Mancode, the biggest flaw with saying that its Horus is that the hieroglyphs were said by Cuse/Lindelof to be translated to 'underworld'. Anubis, as we know, rules the underworld.

Yeah though from the back the statue didn't look like anubis but we need to see the front unless Cuse/Lindelof confirm what the statue was on the podcast.

I dunno, I think it looks like Anubis from the back ...

Horus, I guess, wears some gigantic crown-ish thing, which the statue doesn't seem to have.

Maybe so, but then why the falcon hieroglyph? It can't be a coincidence that the hieroglyph for Horus, which is the falcon, is the same one that was shown in the hatch on that countdown timer! I think it's more likely that Cuse/Lindelof are not fully telling the truth. They don't want to give everything away. I'm sure they've misled us in the past. No Lost pun intended. Maybe the statue is of Anubis, and the hieroglyph represented Horus. Ya never know with this show, which just makes it even more amazing!

They are up, just a little back, but you're right.

Its closer to Anubis than Horus, though, because Horus isn't even shown with ears at all.

I think it might actually be a statue of Richard.

Right, but when you put the hieroglyphs together, they become other things. Its a series of 5 glyphs (or 3+2). While the falcon symbol (which isn't quite the same as the one on the timer) may stand for Horus by itself, with an arrow with it, it means something else.

Edit: According to http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Hieroglyphs, which takes its source as Rachel Blake's blog, which was part of The Lost Experience, and therefore is canon, the 'bird' on the countdown timer is a vulture, not a falcon.

I am waiting for the podcast but the spoilerphobes...

Whats to Come!

Lost is moving again?going back even further into the past to explore a terrible incident that changed the course of the Island (and its people) forever. When Lost returns in two weeks, the charming and talented young actor Sterling Beaumon (the kid's 14 and he's recording an album) reprises his role as "young Ben" for what will be a four-episode character arc.

Sterling tells us exclusively that the story is "very major, and it's going to change Ben forever." Sterling, as per usual for Lost castmembers, is sworn to secrecy about exactly what happens but he says this very major thing "involves himself and yes, it is a trauma? Before the change Ben's a nice, good kid?and then one second will change his life forever."

According to Sterling, over the course of this arc, "Ben will [come to] know everything about every little bit about the Island. We're not going to learn more about the past with Dharma, we're going to learn more about the past of the Island." Say it with me people: Holler!

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
