  1. 1. Who should lead on Destiny?

lime absorbs carbon dioxide to form calcium carbonate... the fact that lime does this is part of high school level science and important in the 'carbon cycle', it was also explained in the episode for people that weren't already aware ;)

also, if you look on epguides.com you will see in a few episodes time that there is one called 'water', this, coupled with the fact that a number of times the word ration is used in the first three episodes would mean that no, there is not an endless supply.

seriously, next time, watch the show properly, or just not at all :p

Thanks for taking the time to explain that, do yourself a favor and not look like an ******* by attempting to be insulting. ;)

not sure i understand, lol.. the smilies were there as i was attempting NOT to be insulting.. :)

aka tongue in cheek

Edit: maybe you mean that next time i should attempt to be insulting? Is there a comma missing after the ******* perhaps? ;)

Why do people have to call this funny names like Battlestargate: Lost in Deep Space Voyager 9. It's a sci-fi in space. Tons of things have been done already and there may be similar themes in SGU but I don't see any blatant copying going on.

Atlantis had me face palming a lot because they carbon copied many episodes SG-1. So far I am not getting that feeling on SGU but we'll see how that turns out once the first season is done.

because its how you describe and differentiate them.

Stargate: movie

Stargate Sg-1: RDA

Starscape Sg-1: Oh hey farscape cast whats up?

Stargate Atlantis:

Stargate SG-A: Oh hey Sam

Stargate Galactica: oh were on a ship and its dark and gritty

Atleast thats how my friends and I describe them.

Just wanted to come back again and say I like it.

It's turning out to be what I thought it might be and not what I thought it might be. And at this point that isn't a good thing or a bad thing, it just is. And yes I was trying to be contradictory and vague. ;)

I'll definitely keep watching. :)

I like it so far. I think it will get better once the characters are developed more and once they stop running out of **** (aka, air, water, power). I get that its more geared toward character development, but would it hurt to throw a little bit of action in there? Maybe some crazy aliens that we have never seen before?

I hate the fact that for no reason everyone hates rush, and I also hate that Eli complains about everything. I think that Eli will grow to be my fav. character, if they develop him right.

Well I liked this episode personally. Granted they have to pick up off of nothing essentially but I think it'll get even more exciting. ALthough I do agree that Scene with the girl and her mother was indeed terrible.

Yes, that was totally retarded :pinch:

What the hell were they thinking? *Were* they thinking?

they said the planet had vegatation and what not before they went, so i would assume they have a good atmosphere, just probably not food or what they need to last for very long. I'll be glad when the flashback nonsense stop and they can get to a proper form of storytelling.

The flashback stuff really annoys me

1. gather unlikely crew: check

2. impress with stargate and cool unknown technology: check

3. travel through stargate to unkown location: check

4. No way back: check

5. limited communication: check

6: food/water/air crisis: check

7: partially solve food/water/air crisis: check

8: lose some people that will later return as enemyallies: check

9: Meet awesome humanoi(cheap makeup) alien that will become part of the exploratory crew: not yet, possibly first sign with the ship that dropped off at the end.

That sounds pretty much like it

Eventually we'll get to the point where they get a gate back to earth or atlantis partially working so they can skip back and forth or drop off supplies. but probably not this season. First we have to milk the all alone with no equipment on a broken ship aspect. not like we've seen that before... Then comes the intergalactic super aliens that have been taking potshots at this shops and probably the gate seeders through the milennia. I bet we'll be paying a visit to the first downed gate seeder near the middle or end of this season.

Any bets about what the new super aliens will be? Perhaps the Furbies, err, Furlings that have never showed up so far, that'd be hilarious

Its only the third episode! Give it a chance to get its steam up for gods sake...simple fact is; we have NO IDEA how this is going to play out. Sure it has tenants of BSG and Voyager at the moment, but I have a gut feeling that we're going to see a swerve once the show gets into its stride and see something different.

I for one enjoyed the season opener (ie: all three episodes) and am looking forward to how the rest of the series progresses.

atlantis didnt really develope a good story till mid-end season 1

so i imagine this will be the same, just hopefully they dont do what atlantis did, and kick out a main cast member like they did with Dr Wier. The show seemed to start dieing right after that

I am a big fan of stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. This series however ****es me off to much sex / sexual activity in it. Get this **** off my tv. Either someone stops all this **** or the series will fail.

which "mother against random stuff we find unethical because it didn't exist 100 years ago" are you from then ?

Sex? when was there sex in this show ?are you sure you're not talking about dollhouse or something ?

and I doubt you've seen any SG before in that case :p

Don't watch it then? You aren't being forced to watch it are you? The **** on your TV, some people are actually liking.

Theres sex scenes in the very first episode. As for the dont like it dont watch it statements. Why name it stargate if your not gonna stick to the same fanbase, Name it something else there was very minimal sex inclusion in the previous two series. The very first episode of this had 2-3 sex scene flash backs.

    • Google Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving for OpenAI by Pradeep Viswanathan Noam Shazeer is best known as one of the co-authors of the 2017 “Attention Is All You Need” paper, which introduced the Transformer architecture that now powers most large language models. He also worked on several major Google AI projects, including LaMDA, before leaving the company in 2021 to co-found Character.AI. He also authored the Sparsely-gated Mixture of Experts (2016) paper, which is popular among the AI community. After falling behind OpenAI and Anthropic a couple of years ago, Google brought Shazeer back in 2024 as part of a major deal with Character.AI. Through this deal, along with Noam, several other researchers returned to Google DeepMind. More recently, he was a vice president of engineering at Google and a technical co-lead for Gemini. Today, Noam Shazeer announced on X that he is leaving Google and joining OpenAI. In his post, Shazeer said it was a difficult decision to move on, adding that he was proud of the Google team and what it had built together. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman welcomed the move with a post of his own, saying Shazeer was one of the people he had most wanted to work with since OpenAI’s early days. Google has made strong progress with Gemini over the past year, closing the gap with OpenAI in several areas. But losing Noam Shazeer is a major talent setback for them, especially after bringing him back less than two years ago by spending a fortune. For OpenAI, the hire adds one of the industry’s most experienced language model researchers to a team that is already pushing ahead with ChatGPT, Codex, and its next generation of frontier models.
