  1. 1. Who should lead on Destiny?

I really dont like that one soldier who was in detention, i can already tell hes gonna be that guy no one likes but ends up being a hero.

Me neither. I didn't care for any of the characters but this one least of all. In one scene he was gonna shoot Rush and wouldn't stand down? What a jerk.

I think they are trying to copy BSG a bit....

If so, they've got a long, long way to go.

Your name is Lord Ba'al so I'm assuming you're a big fan of SG-1, just like I am. So I'll ask you this. You, and the others talking about this very point, realize this is an original stargate seeding ship right?

The ancients created the stargates a very, very long time ago and this ship was built to seed them unmanned throughout the universe. So of course it's old. The characters on SGU are talking about thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of years old but when you look at the timeline established in SG-1 and SGA you'll see that even Atlantis was used up until 10,000 years ago. So this ship is most likely freaking old. It put stargates on an untold number of planets far before the ancients had advanced to the point of flying cities, such as Atlantis, and ascension.

The ship was designed as is and has always been known to be an ancient ship. The creators/ producers have been saying that since the beginning. And of course another reason for the obvious design deviation is the fact that this is a new show. They wanted to create a separate world so the designers probably wanted something different and fresh but still grounded within the Stargate universe, no pun intended. :p

You should see the theories, about this and everything else, being post on Gateworld.net. All the hardcore Stargate fans are there and the depth at which they go into stuff is crazy. And I'm one of them.

Destiny does not seed stargates, it is following the ships that did seed the gates, it is a research ship which is why it had CO2 scrubbers and shuttles. I am not sure where the inhabitants went/happened but it will probably be explained later on. I would say it's safe to assume this ship is older than Atlantis.

Yea much older than Atlantis. Even he said they likely ascended before even needing the ship. It does look very similar to the ship from Atlantis which if memory serves me right was an old ancient war ship :) So it's likely this is roughly from the same era.

Also I think Rush is a good guy just misunderstood as he puts science before all. And I quite dislike that one solider guy. Even the other younger guy annoys me a little. Certainly no O'Neill or Sheppard.

i like all of the SG1 people but the one i like the most is General O'Neil as he handles himself very well and does throw in some humor from time to time then Tylk as he is honest and handles himself well in Battle and will not back down. Carter is very knowledgeable for a female and handles herself well and she looks hot to and Dr Jackson is very scientific and likes to explain things but General O'Neil likes to say huh n stuff like that and the new SGU seems pretty good sofar.

It was explained in the pilot. There was never anyone on it. It was sent out unmanned with the intention that they'd gate a crew in once it had gotten really far away.

i like the younger ones, hes sexy, so ill tolerate him

but i think some ppl have brought up good pts, none of the characters are really all that interesting so far

They all resemble characters weve seen already

The next episode preview doesnt seem all that tempting to me at all either, except that one soldier ill hate even more because he seems like hes trying REALLY hard to seem badass, like a cop with a new taser just pointing his gun everywhere

Naturally O'Neill is a favourite because of his attitude and humor. Teal'c was great because he was Spock-like and provided great balance for O'Neill and well, anyone human. Jackson was funny and smart and Carter was smart and like you said, hot  Even Atlantis had its unique characters, Sheppard (more like O'Neill than anyone else in the 3 series) McKay of course, and I liked Beckett as the doctor while he lasted.

Yea they did say that but its also possible someone managed to hijack it while it was stationary or even moving since its not in hyperspace. Something has to explain the damage on it. Now that also could have easily just been from running into things or being shot at by someone else as it flew by. But if I had to place my bet, I'd say no one has ever been on board and thats why life support and soon enough other things will fail because they never were used.

Yea, I'm not to interested in their sexiness ;) I'll let you have that one. That's more of Rappy's department anyways.

Like I said above, SG1/Atlantis characters had very distinct traits, very few on SGU have unique traits (so far) I suppose its nice to hear that a lot of them die throughout the season. Hopefully that dick soldier will be one of them.

When they originally announced SGU they said the Destiny would be an original seeding ship. Granted that may have changed but either way you got the gist of my post. Thanks for repeating what tons of others have already said about the Destiny being older than Atlantis though. :p

i don't know if it's been brought up, but was it kind of implied with the camera view and heavy breathing in one scene that it might be an alien on the ship watching them? that might explain why the systems were already on and wore down for one. we'll just have to give them time to flush it out.

Camera view and heavy breathing?

And the Life Support systems that don't work properly, along with the lights and whatever else were seen turning on just before the Stargate came to life.

ok i just watched the scene again and just some clarification. It was when they were walking out of the room where they first found the Kino's, the camera POV was definately above them and not the Kino, but the breathing I heard was from the next scene transistion where the Colonel was lying in his bed and breathing hard. The audio just came before they cut away so I thought they might be hinting at some life on the ship.

It's the kino. Why else would he be looking at the kino and holding the remote control/ video screen? We see the kino rise and fall in height.

The creators already said the kino is going to be a story telling tool and possibly play a role in the show itself, not to mention the 30 webisodes planned to be shot from the kino's perspective.

Yea 20 episodes is the normal for Stargate at least. Every season in each series has been 20, some 19 if you count the 2 hour premiere. I decided to re-watch Atlantis alongside SGU and compare it. While I really enjoyed Atlantis premiere I think I enjoyed SGU's more. Probably because its new, but it had a very different feeling to it. Still ****ed off they haven't shown any wormhole animation. That was my favourite part about going through the Stargate.

And I like the idea of the Kino. It reminds me of all the Mockumentary shows and using it for the webisodes is cool.

Strong start for Sky1's 'Stargate Universe'

Stargate Universe made a strong start for Sky1 last night, according to early viewing figures.

Holby City led the 8pm hour, bringing in 5.69m (24.9%) for BBC One. ITV1's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? was its closest competitor, averaging 3.42m (15%).

It did well on Space.

STARGATE UNIVERSE?S (SGU) destiny has been revealed with a record breaking 2+ average minute audience of 565,000, making it SPACE?s highest rated single episode ever.* SGU was the #1 non sports specialty program of the day for 2+ and the key demographics of A25-54 and A18-49.* With two additional airings on Saturday, Oct. 3, SGU rocketed onto SPACE with a total reach of 2.3 million 2+ viewers.** After SGU?s edge-of-your-seat premiere unfolded, nearly 150,000 viewers stayed tuned as SPACE?s new original daily series INNERSPACE blasted onto the scene Friday, Oct. 2 at 11 p.m. ET.

I said to the gf when we were watching that I was wondering what it would be, especially when they came to Destiny.

But we didn't get either. :(

    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know The ONLY thing I need to know is the price, which I know will be way higher than I (and most people) are willing to pay for a phone... so basically nothing here I need to know. PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
    • Well I really think the repasting helped if your higher clocks have returned, maybe the next thing to look at is if there is a problem with your case airflow? I guess this because your 3080 has returned to optimal state, but is still staying too warm, which might suggest it was thermal throttling before you repasted, of which the only logical conclusion could be outside factors.
    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know by Hamid Ganji Galaxy Z Fold 7 - Image via Samsung The next generation of Samsung foldables is set to be unveiled next month at the second Unpacked event of the year. Samsung’s 2026 foldables are not expected to offer significant upgrades over their predecessors, with the Korean firm instead focusing on design refinements and conventional upgrades such as faster processors and better cameras. However, Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil an all-new passport-style foldable this year to rival Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut this September. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices ahead of their official debut. When can we expect Samsung’s new foldables? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series were unveiled in July, and Samsung is expected to maintain this timeframe in 2026. Based on previous reports from Korean sources, Samsung will hold its Unpacked event on July 22 in London, UK, to pull back the curtain on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The devices are also expected to hit the shelves a few weeks after launch. However, Samsung has yet to announce an official date. A new naming scheme? One of the most interesting changes we might see this year is a new naming scheme for Samsung’s latest foldables. SamMobile reported that since Samsung is expected to unveil three foldables this year, it has adopted a new naming strategy to simplify product identification for customers. Accordingly, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and will serve as the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. The “Ultra” suffix suggests the phone could feature higher-end specifications, such as additional rear camera modules. Samsung’s new passport-style foldable is expected to carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name without any suffix. This model is reportedly equipped with two rear cameras. No major changes are expected for the Flip model. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 anticipated specs Rumors over the past few months suggest Samsung is preparing several upgrades for its upcoming foldables, although the devices may continue to rely on larger batteries and faster charging speeds rather than dramatic design changes. The primary focus this year is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wide-screen design. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here are the anticipated specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra based on previous leaks: 6.5-inch outer display and 8-inch inner display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage 4.1mm thickness when unfolded and a weight of 210g 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 10MP or 12MP telephoto camera, 10MP cover camera, and 10MP selfie camera 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 As for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the device is not expected to be a major departure from its predecessor, although it could become slightly slimmer. Expected specifications include: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 processor 12GB of RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner dispaly and 4.1-inch Super AMOLED outer dispaly 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 Samsung’s foldables are also expected to launch with Gemini Intelligence, Google’s AI suite for automating tasks in Android ecosystem. Moreover, given current memory and component costs, some Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 variants could see a price hike. Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a wide-screen design The centerpiece of the upcoming Unpacked event could be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This model adopts a passport-style form factor and is expected to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Fold. Galaxy Z Fold 8 official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here’s what to expect: 7.6-inch primary OLED display and 5.4-inch cover display, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,600 nits peak brightness, and 4:3 aspect ratio Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage options 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired charging 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera Android 17 and One UI 9 The three new foldable phones are unlikely to be the only devices unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event. The company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series.
