  1. 1. Who should lead on Destiny?

I wonder now, if Rush knew the ship would do that

you gotta wonder cause he must have realized the power systems on it were not capable of running for that long, so how did the unmanned ship do what it do for so long

And if so, what was his goal for pretending to not know

it was mentioned several pages back, during Atlantis they come across an old warship made by the ancients. Not only does it look similar on its exterior but the interior as well.

 I think that was me.

And yes it's a terribly old looking ship.

oh, yeah, of course! ;)

what a ****ing stupid post, are you a writer for the show now? lol :D

You also need to think about how the power is being stored as well, just like our batteries, over time, they hold less charge, and this ship looks like it's out lived it's specifications, or at least, past it's maintenance period.

this is a perfectly acceptable speculation, but to give specific reasons involving 'power conduits' is a little weird ;)

Elliot would be able to tell if he was lying don't you think? He's seen him working at the console long enough & can read the text at least well enough to pick up wether or not it's a nav system that Rush is using.

Moreso at one stage they had an hour or so of air left, don't you think Rush would have taken manual flight control of the ship if he had that option ?

The ship is probably heavily locked down, after all, it has to be flown unattended so to stop any random aliens from taking over the ship, they need to lock everything down. You also need to think how long they've been on the ship, it seems like it's only been a few days or a week or so since they've arrived. They've only explored part of the ship, the other parts are either locked down or a crisis has stopped them progressing. Also, the ship is quite old and pre-dates Atlantis which means all the systems won't be as apparent as if they were on a newer based Ancient ship.

So do I think Rush knew about it? I doubt it, he seemed pretty surprised the lights came back on. I think it's just Young being slightly paranoid since Rush hasn't exactly been straight forward when telling stuff.

I think Young just wants a reason to distrust Rush. Everything was going along fine until he said that one line then he's back to Rush being his enemy. The lockdown on the system makes sense. The ship was designed to do everything for itself by itself. Obviously theirs gotta be ways to unlock it as the Ancients planned to board it when it got far enough but I don't think Rush has figured that out, nor do I think he's capable of doing it alone. I have a feeling him and Eli are going to buddy up. After all it was his idea to put the puzzle in the game, he recruited Eli himself. Rush has the ancient knowledge, similar to Daniel Jackson and Eli has the modern/techy knowledge similar to McKay/Carter.

The fact it only has 40% power makes me think there's a problem with the ship vs any foul play. Besides it was Eli who figured out how much it had not Rush, so its not like he's trying to trick anyone. For all we know it's been running on 40% for ages. I'm pretty sure Rush said at the end it was recharging its reserves. Maybe its true power source has been depleted and this is how the ships survives, by charging its reserves over and over again.

I wanna know what the deal is with the little shuttle and detached itself and flew away at the end of Episode 3. Definitely seems like some kind of life form was doing some monitoring. I know the Lucian Alliance play a role in this series somewhere near the end of the season. I don't remember what any of their ships looked like were they similar in design?

Personally I think Rush is a nincompoop who doesn't have a clue, but acts like he does to fool everyone.

Where is the ship headed to? It possibly isn't designed to go forever. And since it is named destiny, I assume it has something to do with what ancients were planning for their own destiny.

I don't want to jump in to a conclusion. But, from the episode summaries for season 1, it seems that at least this season is going to swirl around the personal drama of the crew. Which kind of makes the show a stargate+star trek hybrid. And it also seems there is not going to be much of an exploration during this season.

A shuttle is named Atlantis.... with no plan to find it.

A robot is named Spirit... but it has none.

There might not be anything there to the name "Destiny" other than "hey, lets name it destiny!"

Picture it... ancients, sitting around some ancient drink, getting anciently drunk, trying to solve the whole "Ascention" issue, and vola, a name for a ship.

But really, I'm loving this show.

Sorry, just 2 things I needed to point out. It wasn't Rush's idea to put the puzzle in the game, I believe it was the senators daughter, it was mentioned in the first episode.

Secondly, why would the Lucian Alliance be involved with that ship? The Destiny is in a far distant galaxy. I think if the Lucian Alliance is involved, they'll have someone on board the Destiny who is part of the civilians or the communication stones.

well based on the first episode i guess it's kind of implied they had a spy on the planet to even know the location of Icaris base, but beyond that I hope they never show the Lucian alliance again..there's no way in hell they can get to the destiny through non-stargate means at least and it would be a weak story device if they somehow did manage to get their. Introduce new enemies.

I was thinking that as well.

Introduce new enemies.

There wont be an all ranging new enemy in this one, there's a quote for that somewhere in this thread; there will only be instances where they might encounter various and sundry aliens who cause them trouble. Though I'm sure the point of the traitor will come up.

Ah, I might have missed that part. I just assumed it was him since he was the one there recruiting him. As for the latter well.... I read ahead and found out about the end of the season, don't read the next spoiler if you don't want to know details There's a spy on Destiny, not Earth, or perhaps both. Someone part of the Lucian Alliance (new character) manages to board Destiny and take several crew hostage. This story arc takes place over several episodes leading to the finale.

I dont know if this theory or idea is too farfetched but When rush said Destiny lacked the capability to dial back to Earth did he mean power wise or method to get back to Earth? If it's just power during the last episode do youthink it would have been possible for them to attempt a dial to Earth while the ship was inside the star? lol If it's power they lack. and the Ship uses the sun to collect power. They potentially have a big enough power source to do so. Just thinking out loud.

Also is it just me. or I thought Eli and Chloe had a thing going. lol

I think the point of this ship was to travel the same path as their previous ships ones who dropped the stargate like mentioned in the show. So the path would be there ever those ships went. How far those ships have gone is unknown. But it's possible it went on forever since the method they use to recharge is to dive into a star.

Yeah Eli likes her but its clear she likes the bad boys or the taller type not the geek type...like real life really
