  1. 1. Who should lead on Destiny?

When they did the "three month break" in the past, Sky one continued to air the episodes, so they ended up ahead of Sci Fi, I doubt this will happen this time tho.

I really hate how US TV networks insist on putting breaks in shows, the whole "sweeps" system needs to die in a fire really.

they are turning young in to an irritating character by each new episode. Now, he is spying on the crew to find out who he can trust. That's at best lame. They are stuck for a long time and their life depend on each other. Instead of spying, he should find a way to create trust between people. No one would trust a stalker.

I am wondering, will the show revolve around only 5 people? What's the rest of the crew for? die one by one? I like the stargate shows in general, but, I don't think I can take this for the whole season.

And, is the actress playing Chloe pregnant?

Yes I hate that as well. I wish they could air the episodes all year long. It is definitely annoying almost nothing ever good aired during sweeps.

not heard anything about it? I know TJ is and due to give birth soon I think

A 3-4 month break? well that sucks! its the one thing i hate about america, is the stupid breaks they have. So if its airing in december, then the break is gona happen around ep 12/13? unless there are some breaks coming up?

it's not america it's syfy only. most normal networks air their episodes from september to may, relatively unbroken and then reruns in the summer leading to the next season. Syfy is the only network I know that has a show completed and purposedly only airs like half of them and creates an artificial season finale mid-way through the season. I've always hated that about them. I remember one time during the 2nd or 3rd season of Stargate Atlantis when either the show's entire season or a good 10 episodes was broadcast in Canada before syfy aired one episode in America.

Most network shows break from just before Thanksgiving to sometime in Jan.

Most network shows break from just before Thanksgiving to sometime in Jan.

Indeed. I'll just name a few. Right now. House, Fringe, and Bones are on hold due to sports till about January. On CW, Smallville and Supernatural are about to show their last episode of the year until January.

Usually, it's August/September to October/November then return in January till end of February then a couple of weeks of break to prep for sweeps for April till May finales.

hmm you're right i stand corrected. I usually didn't see it that way because the sports championships, the olympics, etc were things that were beyond a networks control. I just focused on syfy doing it for at least to me no apparent reason. I also never consider the "holiday break" that bad since it was so short relative at least for me.

SGU Writer to Fans: Stop Being Idiots!

Only weeks after its successful launch, Stargate Universe has found itself criticized (even by us) for the show's treatment of female characters. But as the criticism gets uglier, one of the show's writers couldn't help but respond in kind.

Actress Julia Benson has already responded to some fan criticisms that the show doesn't seem to know what to do with its female characters beyond reducing them to sexual objects or cyphers. But when certain fans, or as we like to call them, trolls, took to the writer's personal blog calling actors ###### and being rude in general, show writer Joseph Mallozzi's felt compelled to address the SGU trolls:

STOP MAKING IDIOT COMMENTS. Note I didn't say idiotic comments because that would imply that the lion's share of the idiocy lies with the comment itself rather than the commentator. No, I mean: STOP MAKING IDIOT COMMENTS.

For example, say you have a problem with the James scene in Darkness in which she threatens Riley and Eli after they try spying on her with the kino. You can go ahead and make an argument for the scene being sexist (although I'd argue that there's a difference between the scene being sexist and the characters in the scene acting inappropriately, especially given that a clearly disappointed Young admonishes both men), but if, in the body of your comment or any subsequent comment, you refer to the James character as Lieutenant Rack or McBoobs, then you're a hypocrite who has successfully undermined their argument by demonstrating you can't be taken seriously. Also, you're an idiot.

Granted, Mallozzi seemed hesitant to lash out like this and explained that part of the reason for his frustration, he admits, comes from the way that the "idiot comments" impact the show's cast and crew - and potentially shape the future of the series in opposite ways to the loudest fan criticisms, also some people in our opinion were just being jerks.

Sadly, the negativity has also taken its toll on one-time regular Sherry, proud mother of actor Brian J. Smith, who, surprised and saddened by some of the hostility here, has elected to no longer read the blog. Also, after several months of connecting with fandom online, Brian is stepping away from his popular twitter account for much the same reason. Some of the very same fans who he was kind enough to open up a dialogue with in the run-up to the premiere started leaving him nasty comments as though he was responsible for the show's creative direction... [R]ealize – if it hasn't become apparent by now – that we love our cast and are very protective of them. Trust me when I say that there's no better way to guarantee a character's long and fruitful stay on a show than to insist we get rid of them.

And Mallozzi has a tough message for the fans who want the show to be more like previous entries in the Stargate realm:

SGU is NOT SG-1 or Atlantis. It's a different show in terms of tone and characters. If you're expecting flawless people, square-jawed heroes, and stories that set up and deliver all the answers over the course of a forty-five minute episode, you WILL be disappointed. And DON'T expect that to change.

But still, it's really interesting to see this response, fans are always tough especially on the internet, this isn't new news. We're very surprised that the writers especially seasoned Mallozzi, hasn't dealt with this sort of thing before. Is his skin getting thin because the complaints ring true, or was it an appropriate response to a monsoon of trolls?

Much more in the link. Go and read.

That Long Overdue Rant – And A Behind-The-Scenes Vid From Water [Joseph Mallozzi's Weblog]

Universe ratings give Syfy a boost

Stargate Universe is holding its own against baseball playoffs and big-network shows, helping to give Syfy Channel its best October ever, the network announced. Despite ratings slipping a bit from the 1.8 season high rating (for ?Air, Part 3″), the show continues to draw more than 2 million viewers on Friday night and is seeing a significant lift in the first ?Live + 7 Days? DVR-delayed ratings.

The first season of SGU is averaging a 2.1 average household rating and 2.85 million total viewers, the network said in an October 27 press release. This includes full ?Live + 7 Days? viewing data, though Syfy would probably have only had access to that data for about the first two weeks of the show (three of the six hours broadcast so far).

Nielsen Media Research releases full DVR ratings numbers to the networks approximately three weeks after broadcast.

In the key demographics, Syfy said that Universe is averaging 1.5 million adults ages 18 to 49, and 1.7 million ages 25 to 54.

The time-shifted viewing data for Stargate Universe is clearly significant, with 2.99 million viewers and a 2.1 rating for ?Air, Part 3″ ? up from the 1.8 rating (2.4 million) on Friday night. That?s the most-watched episode of a Stargate show since March 2005 (?The Siege, Part 1″), Syfy said.

Compared to the last season of Stargate Atlantis, SGU is up 59 percent among adults 18 to 34, 41 percent among adults 18 to 49, 33 percent among adults 25 54, and up 36 percent in total viewers, the network said.

Along with the 2.1 average rating for Ghost Hunters, the 1.7 average for Destination Truth, and the 1.8 rating earned by the season premiere of Sanctuary, Syfy is looking at its most watched October ever.

While we don?t have official ratings numbers for the last three episodes, on Twitter actor Brian J. Smith mentioned a 1.6 rating for ?Darkness? ? which aired against an MLB playoff game on October 16. TV by the Numbers reports viewership of 2.099 million viewers (?Live + Same Day?) for that one, and 2.015 million for October 23 (?Light?).

Universe is the network?s second-highest rated show behind Ghost Hunters (about 3 million viewers before DVR).

I'm just happy I got to see my first SGU wormhole scene, it's blue! ooOoOOOo :D I can see why longtime Stargate fans might not like the new show but I do :) I really like Greer now, I disliked him in the first few episodes but he's redeemed himself, hope he sticks around. I have a feeling Young will die in the finale.

I really like Universe, and granted some people may be uncomfortable with "sex" scenes but seriously, these scenes were So tammed and so short that its not worth to get your panties in a knot. its like he said, if you get offended with that perhaps theres some personal deep rooted issue the fan needs to work out.

I mean granted Being a writer/producer you gotta prepare yourself for a backlash on some stuff... but when it comes to a point where the fans are insulting the actors directly. Gets out of line. Its very insulting. Some fans need to grow up. Its not like the actor Dr Rush acts like this in real life, to his fellow actors. Its how its written, and Dr Rush performs great.

Really enjoying this show and cant wait to see more.

I totally agree

Wow thats smart the creators of the show calling the fans idiots for having issues with the show, i was on the fence and i couldnt care less if i never saw another episode of universe.

He just lost a fan.

And the SGU signature disappears! Who cares man

The show is good, people like to bitch, a writer is human just like a fan. I think he has a point but maybe not the best way to address it. Never mind the fact that last episode the doc played a significant role and lived up the beloved strong female :/ So technically they should be satisfied. I just think its a little premature to judge a show off what 5-6 episodes? Especially when theres 20 in the season.

And considering how strong the ratings are doing for SyFy, I don't think they care if they lost 1 fan.

uh, being childish?

i like the story, i couldn't care less if malozzi called us gay idiots if he didn't change anything on the show

    • Microsoft Weekly: new Surface, Windows 11 26H2, and more by Taras Buria This week's news recap is here, with Microsoft announcing Windows 11 version 26H2, launching new Surface devices powered by Snapdragon X2 processors, GTA VI preorder date and cover art, fresh Windows 11 preview builds, a quirky phone-sized e-reader with a physical dial, and more. Quick links: Windows 10 and 11 Windows Insider Program Updates are available Reviews are in Gaming news Great deals to check Windows 11 and Windows 10 Here, we talk about everything happening around Microsoft's latest operating system in the Stable channel and preview builds: new features, removed features, controversies, bugs, interesting findings, and more. And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions. Windows 11 version 26H2 is now official. Alongside Windows 11's new preview builds released this week, Microsoft confirmed version 26H2, which is coming later this year as an enablement package based on the same platform as versions 24H2 and 25H2. A newly published blog post details what IT admins should do to prepare for the upcoming launch. Next, we have new Windows 11 bugs. Users report that this month's security updates for Windows 11 cause all sorts of issues, including BitLocker bugs, OneDrive issues, black screens of death, and third-party integration in Office apps. Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Moving to more positive news, Microsoft and Adobe are working on improving Windows performance in popular creative apps like Photoshop. Thanks to SPGO optimizations, users can expect up to 20% better performance. Finally, we have a few useful articles that can help you recover your PC or make it perform better. For one, we published a guide detailing what to do if your computer cannot boot after a clean Windows 11 install. There are two important steps you can try to get your system back to working in no time. Additionally, there is a more detailed guide on various CPU performance modes that could notably improve performance. Windows Insider Program Here is what Microsoft released for Windows Insiders this week: Builds Canary Channel Builds 28120.2315 and 29613.1000 These two builds include a new built-in audio driver, improvements to audio Settings, and more. Dev Channel Builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690 Not much is available here. Some File Explorer improvements, Start menu enhancements, bug fixes, and more. However, build 26300.8697 is now officially marked as version 26H2. Updates are available This section covers software, firmware, and other notable updates (released and coming soon) delivering new features, security fixes, improvements, patches, and more from Microsoft and third parties. This week, Microsoft announced its newest Surface devices powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 processors. There is the 12th-gen Surface Pro and the 8th-gen Surface Laptop. Both devices feature little to no visual differences compared to their predecessors from 2024, and most changes hide inside, including a better processor, faster graphics, enhanced NPUs, and more. The Surface Laptop also received a new haptic trackpad. Mozilla is currently working on a major Firefox redesign, and earlier this week, it published a roadmap of upcoming features and highlights of the upcoming "Project Nova" rework. Files, one of the best file managers for Windows 10 and 11, has been updated in the Preview channel with a long-requested feature. Tree View is finally available in version 4.1.4, allowing you to quickly browse deeply nested folders without leaving the main view. In addition, the update improved the Windows Fonts folder, allowing you to preview each font without opening the default viewer. Rufus, another useful Windows 11 utility, also received a notable update. Version 4.15 arrived as beta with important fixes for silent Windows 11 installation. It also includes patches for ARM-based Windows PCs, OneDrive removal improvements, and more. Here are other updates and releases you may find interesting: Microsoft faces shareholder lawsuit over masking AI costs and slowing Azure growth Microsoft now allows you to tweak Visual Studio to new extremes Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users Microsoft fixes one of Excel Copilot's most frustrating limitations Microsoft will finally let you sign in to Edge with a Google account Here are the latest drivers and firmware updates released this week: NVIDIA 610.62 with support for Empulse and various fixes. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Earlier this week, we reviewed the DuRoBo Krono, a portable, phone-sized e-reader with some interesting physical controls. This device has an Apple Watch-like dial for page turning, frontlight adjustment, and more. Software is simple and no-nonsense, but it also lacks some useful features and customization. Overall, the device proved interesting, but not flawless. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more. Forza Horizon 6 received two big updates this week. Alongside the Series 2 content update, developers pushed plenty of bug fixes and balancing tweaks. However, they also had to acknowledge the Eliminator CR-farming exploit and shut down the online mode temporarily. Luckily, only a few days later, another fix arrived, which re-enabled Eliminator and patched the exploit. Microsoft announced new games for Game Pass subscribers. Those include EA Sports FC 26, Junkster, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Abyssus, RV There Yet?, and more. Some existing games are leaving the catalog, so be sure to check out the full list here. New games are also available for GeForce NOW subscribers, and they include Embers of the Uncrowned Demo, Aphelion, Megastore Simulator, OPERATOR, Citizen Sleeper, and more. Rockstart Games had plenty of GTA-related news this week. For one, the company gave GTA V players another free update. Those still playing the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are no longer required to pay $40 to upgrade to the latest-gen version. More importantly, Rockstar Games revealed the GTA VI cover art and announced the preorder date. The Epic Games Store is giving away two games: Citizen Sleeper and Roboeat.
