i dont really know yet whos side im on

I can see several things playing out. After the water episode, Eli might have a grudge against rush, and now hes in charge of investigating rush

Telford i can see doing 1 of two things. Screwing Young's GF and posing to be him, OR turning the gf against Young. Either way any time he gets involved in something it goes bad.

I really like the direction the show is taking though, you cant trust anyone, seems like theres gonna be alot of inhouse drama even before they start finding aliens

So far, SGU is right on course with Voyager. This episode, Earth, is the 7th episode. (or 6th, depending if you count the first as 1 or 2) In Star Trek Voyager their first "hope" for home was also in the 7th episode (again, or 6th). Eye of the Needle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_of_the_Ne...rek:_Voyager%29 Where a wormhole is discovered.

So, going by the Voyager timeline, it won't be long before they encounter humans from 1937 brought to a planet by aliens

Hey I liked the 37's!

Eli may get to handle some guns sometime soon, hints David Blue. And he would like to have a long scene where he and Rodney McKay geek out about stuff. [SF Universe]

Rush isn't up to anything, he hasn't had a proper pair of glasses since they broke in the premiere. He's been working blind!

But I'm getting really fed up with Young constantly questioning him. My only guess for them wanting to make us hate so many character is because there is no true villain yet. Speaking of which is was said that it was the Lucian Alliance that attacked the base in the first episode. Which could be their cue in to re-appear later in the season. After all someone had to snitch about the location of the base, they are likely on board Destiny too. Question is who? I think Ming-Na just because she hasn't had much of a role so far, but the girl doctor could be. She wanted to leave before it all happened anyways.

Loving the RDA cameos, while they may be short and brief they are a nice touch to the show that reminds of us the good old days. I hope he does plenty more throughout the season or better series. I'm sure its not a lot of trouble for him to come in and shoot the scenes. However I'd LOVE a McKay cameo with Eli. They'd be great interacting with each other.

Telford is being a little bitch though if he tries to tap Young's wife. Not cool bro, even if you're ****ed off at the dude. But in all honesty wtf does he have to be ****ed off about? For all he knows he was about to kill everyone so he bailed so he didn't die. Not like Young tried to screw him over.

Next episode looks to return some classic stargate style action :)

The doc wanted out because of young, all scenes indicate an affair in the very least and Ming-na will be a long running character by all indications, it'll be someone they don't intend to stick around. You'll see one of the faceless people from the background shots suddenly pop up towards that point I'd say.

except voyager was a lot more entertaining than this. I just watched episode 7 and want to say that had to be the most uneventual episode yet, I skipped through the back on earth scenes as they were boring and that left a few minutes of actual stargate goodness that was wasted on yet more bickering and bad facial expressions. Seriously a makeout scene right at the beginning?

Still waiting for something good to happen or an actual plot to arise from the soap drama scenes....

honestly, I'm a big stargate fan and I'm still loving this show. I love the direction they're taking. It's also open to them doing anything.

I hope your not one of those fan boys who thinks the new series is awesome and is the best series yet. There is plenty on them on gateworld, when you post on the forum and say something bad about the show some dumb mod blocks you from posting in said post and gives you a warning. Seems they are all fan boys who can't take some crit on the show.

While I don't think SGU is the best SG show (not by far) it's certainly a good show. And while it is "boring" so far, you have to understand they are setting things up for the season (and beyond hopefully). They can't just fix everything and then start exploring in 3 or 4 episodes. They have to continually deal with the water/air/food situation, which I agree gets very tedious. And the body swapping is getting old already, but it's certainly more interesting than most of the crap on TV.

Either way, at least they haven't had a time travel episode yet or a big reset episode yet.

Wait...

Hopefully your right, the later episodes of season 1 sound good compared to the ones that have aired so far.

I'm annoyed their taking a fricking brake over Christmas and into march, hate it when shows do that.

Though I suppose its no as annoying as say BSG taking like a year gap before the last half of the last season.

Surprisingly, I hear people can have different opinions on things. :p

they have access to the people back home and they can't break the encryption stopping them exploring the ship? they have full access to atlantis and it doesn't have the codes in its database?

i like the show but the plot holes are huge.

Atlantis could just not have the codes, its hardly a plot hole.

Not only could Atlantis not have the codes, but if they did and used them the show would be essentially over already. If they magically get control of the ship and can tell it where to go, what to do etc, and can either go home that way or gate home somehow from that point - where's the show going from there?

Sure I said they could make it home for next season and then send a real crew (with Rush, Eli etc still attached) to explore the Destiny but that's far away and I doubt very much they are going to do that so quickly.

Surprisingly, I hear people can have different opinions on things. :p

Indeed they can, some just can't take it when you start criticising it, they must have the last word. One post I said something like I don't know why some of you think it's so great, when its clearly gone done the soap opera drama route, yet the previous series's were very good, talk about going against what the fans have enjoyed for the past 10+ years. Then you get a load of uselss posts about why the show rocks.

The doc wanted out because of young, all scenes indicate an affair in the very least and Ming-na will be a long running character by all indications, it'll be someone they don't intend to stick around. Yea I know they did, but Young wasn't supposed to go in the first place? I thought it was Telford hence why he wants to take over control so bad. It was my understanding Young was forced into the situation unwillingly. While I don't think it's her, she does have some reasons to be it. And I disagree with you about it being a no name. I think they are setting up the snitch to be a rival of theirs for future episodes. Having an established actress/actor to play the role would be a wise choice. I'd really be ****ed if it was the bald guy. Seems too easy to pawn it off on the obvious character.

And while I still think SG1 was the best of the Stargate series I think this show has more potential than Atlantis. People would be complaining if they boarded a mysterious/unknown ship and within a day can control everything and have no problems. Even if they loaded it up with cool sci-fi action there will be that group of people who think its bull**** they somehow mastered it so fast. Especially considering they keep re-enforcing the point that these aren't the right people for the job. If they want to spend 3/4 of the first season letting them get adjusted fine by me, just don't pull that same **** come season 2. They have my blessing to milk it for 1 season, but after that if they expect me to keep tuning in they need to turn up the heat.

I don't know. Atlantis could have been a great show but SyFy blow it. I think they are doing the same with this show. The plots are dull and the characters are uninteresting. There is nothing or no one to root for. It's just more soap opera every week. They've clearly had all the creative ideas they can have in the SG series. It's time to move on.

No, I'm not at the point of calling it the best stargate ever or anything, that will take many seasons. SG1 was fantastic until near the end, it got a bit stale. Atlantis was hit and miss with me. It just seemed a bit of the same take on the original story for the most part. Universe is something completely different, and while I hate that whiny ###### Chloe, I like the story and a lot of the characters. I keep thinking to myself "Man, SG1 would have been great with Rush"

I wouldn't blame SyFy for that. They're just the network. I blame the writers for any problems with the show itself. I will agree there's no real hero to root for. If I had to pick one I'd say Rush. I like him and think he gets **** on too much. Greer also seems pretty cool since the 3rd or 4th episode.

Rush's character would have been a great replacement to Weir instead of Carter/Woolsey. If they brought him in then I could see it going past 5 seasons. Much like Weir he has strong beliefs and likes doing things his way. Plus they both hate the military.

    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
    • Microsoft: Windows 11 could finally solve a major issue across AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has been trying to improve it, Windows 11 is definitely not flawless, as even today some issues are taking a year to publicly acknowledge. However, one area of trouble that may finally see much better results soon is graphics driver crashes. Work on graphics driver timeouts, also called Timeout and Detection Recovery (TDR), is not new as the latest WDDM 3.2 also has specific improvements regarding it. Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 3.2 is supported on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, with the upcoming version 26H2, TDR crash diagnosis could go to the next level as Microsoft is introducing a new DirectX 12 API feature called "DirectX Dump Files". Similar to how system memory dump files work when a system crashes or freezes or encounters any such major issue, DirectX Dump Files (DDF) will essentially record a snapshot of the GPU execution right at the moment a graphics-related crash or hang or freeze occurs, so that developers can better understand and diagnoze these TDR and timeout detection errors. The dump will be available as a .dxdmp file for analysis and it will be a comprehensive dump file generated with detailed insights about the hardware, drivers, Windows, as well as the affected application. This should be another welcome change in this department. Earlier at GDC 2026, when the technology was first debuted, Microsoft had shared more details regarding it. The company had explained how DDF is designed to gather data from every layer of the graphics stack into a single file, eliminating the need for developers to manually correlate logs from multiple tools. As mentioned above, the dump can contain a lot of useful details like GPU hardware state information such as register values, shader program counters, page fault virtual addresses, shader memory data, and command buffers. Alongside that, it also captures DirectX runtime and kernel information, including D3D objects, pipeline state objects, device error data, adapter details, and CPU call stacks. Microsoft says the feature has been built around two primary use cases: retail device removals and local device removals. The former allows developers to collect crash information from end users' systems in the field, while the latter helps QA teams and developers investigate issues on test machines. Developers will also be able to include up to 2 MB of custom application data through new D3D12 APIs, providing additional context for troubleshooting. In addition, Microsoft is introducing three dump collection modes ranging from zero-overhead capture, which has no runtime performance impact on supported hardware, to higher-detail modes that collect more vendor-specific debugging data. On compatible Tier 2 hardware, zero-overhead dumps will be enabled by default, meaning developers may begin receiving useful crash diagnostics without making any code changes. The table below explains the three tiers: Tier Description NO_OVERHEAD Enables crash capture with no runtime cost and is suitable for broad deployment MEDIUM_OVERHEAD Provides a balance, capturing additional diagnostic data with moderate impact HIGH_OVERHEAD Collects the most detailed GPU and driver state available, enabling deeper investigation at the cost of higher runtime overhead In terms of availability, the company expects broader release to be around the fall of 2026, which should be right around the time when Windows 11 version 26H2 lands. Right now, DirectX Dump Files are available as a preview and currently, only AMD has the compatible AgilitySDK Developer Preview driver version 26.10.07.02. You can find the official announcement post here on Microsoft's website.
