nomis_nehc
Yeah... problem is when I selected restore partition 2, it just sat there. The bar would not move, and it wouldn't restore. Believe me, I tried it a few times. I am assuming that this is probably not going to be the same experience for everyone. Otherwise, there wouldn't be an 'alternative' manual way to do it. Brad.
Might be because you're using a 160GB drive. My thoughts exactly. I'll be ordering the drive next Friday. Maybe even tomorrow depending how much goes into the bank.
Browno
Right, if u Sata this to your PC could you save off gamerpictures then edit them to your own and save them back to your HDD?
Pheee
Knowing Microsoft the image there will probably be signed, so if you modify it, then it wont match the signature, and flag it as modified files, and could get you banned.
.KICK
Is it possible to get a custom 120gb HDD in the 360 without a computer. I only have a laptop unfortunately.
Pheee
not that I know of, it needs sata connections and power, even with an adapter.

Damn, I wonder if someone can make me a 120GB HDD Compatible for 360 and all I have to do is just put in my 360! Although, I wouldn't know how to transfer my data. Lingwo
Done and dusted. Just done mine. Very easy process, even when it came to hex editing it to copy back my files. Mine only took a little longer because for some reason backing up the cache folder made it go into a loop that would never finish.
Pheee
Im not going to bother with Cache partition, no point really, just let it get all updates, unless of course it does have an issue, lol. @.Kick, you would have to use a Memory card to transfer saves etc, and I would recommend redownloading all old DLC again onto new HDD, like Maps, etc.
NoLiMiT06
I would also like for someone to do a hd for me as well. I can put it in the shell I just need it formated for the 360. Pheee
Right for anyone that has done this, I have now completed everything. but 3 games refuse to load their save games. Fable 2 Forza 2 Too Human Does anyone else that did an upgrade and have these games had any problems? I dont really want to start again for these games, as they are all time consuming. Any info from anyone?

Pheee
Im not too fussed with Too Human, as I might not play it again and might sell it. Forza 2 is a little annoying, but dont mind starting again at some point. But Fable 2.... aaaaahhhhhhh
Rigby
It's sickening what Microsoft charges for their stupid little hard drives. That to me makes them no better than the companies selling a few cents worth of ink for $50 a cart.
Pheee
but i heard even people buying official 120gb drive and using a transfer kit, have had save games not valid anymore... thats just crap.
t0mbi
WOW..even official HDD transfer can stuff up!!! that's crazy! maybe its some form of protection in the game saves themselves?
Kushan
I don't know about game saves, but I do know that installed games are linked to the Hard Drive's serial (i.e. if you take your hard drive around to a friend's, the installed 360 game will still work providing you have the disk - but if you transferred the image to another hard drive, it wont) so it is entirely possible such protection exists. I think I lucked out, when I transferred my data over, no games saves I had imposed such restrictions =\
Pheee
Kushan did you have any of the 3 games I mentioned? I checked everything I had, they were the only ones. All downloads are usually tied to the console not storage device. But I think those games have extra protection, as I read they cannot be copied to a memory stick even. Not sure about moving, so I might invest in a Memory Card. to test out.
I8PP
I have moved my Fable 2 saves from my 20GB to my 60GB (official unit) via a Memory Unit. Works fine.
Pheee
Ok looks like moving is fine, will sort that out.

Nope, I didn't have any of those games until AFTER I swapped the drive =\ Also, when I mentioned "installed games", I meant HDD installed 360 games, not downloaded ones. Ah ok, makes more sense. Right now I will survive without those games, and will look for a Memory card, anone got one to sell or lend? Hopefully I can move them without issue, that would be great. »X«
After reading this thread and experiencing recent problems myself I just bought the right WDBEV 120 drive. However, because of fiddling before I did research, I need to get my hands on a hddss.bin from a 20gig(since I think I did bad things to my original), so I can put my 20gb in my xbox and transfer saves. Serious pain. :(:(
