Building on the success of Map Pack 1 and Map Pack 2, we?ve decided to continue support for CoDWaW and announce the upcoming release of Map Pack 3. Today, we?re happy to bring you the first details.

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 further expands the awesome COD multiplayer experience with four brand new maps.

Fight for ocean territory in "Battery," an armored island surrounded by anti-ship mines and shore to ship cannons. Watch out for sniper fire as you defend Russia's most coveted resource in "Revolution," and keep a sharp eye out through the dense, overcast city streets in "Breach," set at Berlin's historic Brandenburg Gate. Zombies return in all their undead glory with "Der Riese" (Zombie Factory), a Nazi research facility featuring the weapon upgrading Pack-A-Punch Machine. Use the teleporters to escape in an instant and fight to the death in pursuit of the map's 10 new Achievements/Trophies.

Map Pack 3 is slated for release this August. Keep an eye out here at CoDWaW.com for more information regarding Map Pack 3, and follow @JD_2020 on Twitter for the latest news as it breaks!

Map Pack 3 inbound with 10 new achievements/trophies (:

Wow, they are really pumping out the DLC for WaW.

I wonder how far along these maps were to begin with when the game shipped though. Seems odd they released Map pack 2 and now 3 what, 2 months apart?

But I guess when your map packs sell 2+ million copies, you make more, fast lol

Because their time is limited and now teh mighty IW are coming back.

Basically they are scrapping together what they can to make the last few bucks before their POS is dropped faster than....something very fast.

Can't wait to see this game finally buried

Me too. The SP was pretty good. It's no COD4, but it's still pretty good. The MP is complete garbage though.

If you look at how poorly designed Treyarch's maps are, it's no surprise that they can pump them out pretty fast.

haha at the cod waw haters entering this thread with the usual dribble, if u dont like the game, fine, move along, no need to be in here

cod waw maps take a doo doo on cod4 maps.... yes, i took it there. if u want to know what the majority of cod gamers think then just look at the online stats released every week by microsoft

p.s. i will be downloading and most likely enjoying these maps - day 1

So should I get this on PC or xbox?

If you've got a good PC, definitely buy it for PC. You can grab copies of COD:WAW on eBay for less than $20 USD, and the map packs are free! You just have to wait a couple months after they're released for the consoles..

Does World at War, like the Modern Warfare PC version store profiles locally along with ranks and all this crap? Because that was so massively fail you couldn't even begin to understand it - Servers were also filled to the brim, way above the 'proper' max level with some insane rules! If it's still like that I highly suggest the console version, despite being a PC buff. The console version is a lot more consistent.

Yes it stores them locally like MW.

As for the servers, don't blame the PC version because the 360 can't do more than 24 players on a server with it's P2P system without collapsing in on itself Sethos :) (and yes, I know there are a few games with more players, but those are dedicated servers)

The PC version can support up to 64 players (most are 32 or 48 though) and play fine. The only problem with the higher numbers on the PC is the amount of spawn points. This is a problem I'll agree, but it's not something that ruins the MP experience.

As for which version to get? That's up to you personally. There are a ton of FREE map packs (especially zombie map packs) for WaW PC, and some of them are amazingly good. The community is much bigger on the 360 obviously (which is sad) but hey, can't win em all. Either way, would you rather play it on a console with a controller, or on the PC with a mouse and keyboard? And would you rather pay money for maps, or get them ALL for free on PC? Not to mention all the custom made content you get on PC also.

Wait, they released the map packs free on the PC but charged on consoles? LOL

In fact I think I've read that before, but still it gives me as a big a LOL as it probably did then as it does again now.

God damnit, console online gaming has so much going for it, but at times it's just sad of some of the BS that is pulled in comparison to the PC. Bend over console gamers, so it'll be MW2 ?55 RRP, have to pay for every map pack compared to PC probably ?35 RRP, and free map packs?

Also, isn't map size an issue with 64 players? I assume the maps are the same size as on the console. When playing with that many people you really need big maps. I love playing with a lot of people, hides how **** I usually a:laugh:h: But on cramped maps it sucks.

And yes, AB you didn't know all the maps are free on PC? Sure we gotta wait a month or so later, but it's all free for us baby! The only reason why I bought the map pack for WaW (the 2nd one) was that none of my friends on PC play WaW nor will they anytime soon, and there are a ton of people playing it on the 360. So I figured, eh why not.

The maps are fine size wise with 64 players really on PC. It's just the amount of spawn points as I mentioned. Other than that, the SMALL maps like that one map in MW I can't remember that's just used as a deathmatch map and to rank up mainly. That's insane with 64 players lol

Oh don't you go try lecturing me on Console vs PC network infrastructure because you already got a few things wrong ;)

The maps are way too small for anything above 18 players and it DOES ruin the game because it turns into a tard-clickfest with no organization at all. Thankfully you can filter servers but that doesn't help much when you hit a 'low point' of the day and only those massive servers are populated with your preferred settings.. It's the reason why I started to love Consoles in the first place, the technical limitations of the console was actually helping in creating an organized, consistent environment where you know the server you're joining is running a default set of rules and a reasonable amount of players to keep the game at a decent pace.

Not to mention the rampant cheating on the PC that just ruins your day.

You mean the same one where Halo 3 is at the top week after week, oh yeahhhh

  • 2 weeks later...
key word was 'cod players'

in cod u can shoot someone from 1 end to the other end of almost every map with the assault rifle, thats lame

LIVE Activity for week of July 27th

Xbox 360 Top LIVE Titles (based on UU?s)

1 Halo 3

2 Call of Duty 4

3 Call of Duty: WaW

4 Gears of War 2

5 GTA IV

6 Battlefield 1943

7 Marvel vs. Capcom 2

8 1 vs 100

9 FIFA 09

10 Left 4 Dead

The top 3 stays the same every week, sometimes they get shuffled a bit, the fact that modern warfare has been out a year longer and is still being played that much means enough to me.

I didn't buy it. Most of the new maps get vetoed 9 out of 10 times. I rather spend my money on MW2 when that comes out.

That sucks, having to pay for maps then not being able to play on them is single handedly the lamest thing about consoles/matchmaking systems. Devs really need to have server browsers if they're going to charge you for maps, or do a matchmaking/server browser combo.

    • So what am I quoting from them? I never listened to what Farage or his cronies said. I wanted the U.K to leave the E.u years before the referendum and it had nothing to do with Farage and his cronies. So what country do you live in? Did we work much better together? We were always at logger heads with the E.U because we disagreed with them so much. Maggie was always on at them. I would have thought the E.U was glad to get rid of us as we stopped the integration or made it a two tier. Now without us they can integrate more. I would not have voted out if it was just a trading block and we can still work together on somethings.

    • Apple reportedly looks to blacklisted Chinese memory chips as RAM prices climb by Karthik Mudaliar Image via Apple Apple is reportedly trying to get a clearance from the Trump administration to buy memory from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) to get some relief from soaring DRAM prices. As per a report by the Financial Times, Apple approached the Commerce Department more than a month ago and also spoke to other officials and allies in Washington. For starters, CXMT is a company that's already been placed on the Pentagon's list of Chinese military companies. The Chinese company is the country's top DRAM maker. For Apple, the timing is certainly awkward but not surprising. Tim Cook had recently warned that Apple would have to raise prices because AI companies are buying up large amounts of memory for data centers, and just like that, Apple raised MacBook and iPad prices. Micron also recently revealed that customers have committed billions of dollars to secure memory supply years in advance, which shows us how aggressive securing infrastructure has become. This gives suppliers such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron more leverage, while pushing hardware makers to look for alternatives. CXMT is one of those alternatives, but not the simplest one. Apple has spent many years trying to diversify parts of its supply chain away from China, especially for final assembly, while still depending heavily on Chinese manufacturing and suppliers. Even domestic brands from China are moving towards CXMT and YMTC instead of relying on Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix. For Apple, though, it would invite more scrutiny than local Chinese companies. For now, this is more like a lobbying effort rather than a confirmed supply deal. There's no official statement from either of the parties. What is clearer, though, is the pressure behind such a request. AI demand has certainly made hardware a bottleneck, and companies are trying everything they can to bring things back to normal, even if that means making politically sensitive choices. Source: Financial Times
    • I did test it a month or so back, but ... the results I expect to be on the first page are not there.
    • Neowin is saying these are good prices? Thats crazy. As others have said they are just ######. Time for big tech to bring down the prices for real not this fake crap.
