GTA IV for PC (official)

I would say that the miminum system requirements seem insane for a GTA game. Even more demanding than Crysis. Look at the Quad Core CPU recommendation. Maybe this is going to be GTA's last PC port. :(

My PC's the 'recommended' system, except with just 2 GB of RAM on Vista and a 8800 GT.

But geez. Can someone say poor optimization... if the quality of graphics is anything to go by in previous GTA games. :/

I take it neither of you have seen any screenshots of GTAIV... the graphics are VASTLY improved.

I find the memory requirements hilarious compared to what the PS3 and the Xbox360 has. Haha! If memory is a real issue then they have a problem with 32Bit then haven't they? Afterall, 2GB is the 32bit limitation for an application (4GB for the entire system). I can see games pushing for 64Bit more than OEM companies to be honest. But anyways, compared to the Xbox360 and the PS3, the GPU/CPU requirements aren't a shocker.

^ I think they're also taking into account the memory needed to run the OS and all the background applications.

Aye I know this, but we all know that 'Recommended' system requirements are just as bad as minimal requirements. Many times I've played games and my system has been on the 'Recommended' requirements or slightly above it and I could still only play it on average settings and so on.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
This FAIL... Already there they compare a Triple Core 2.1GHz to a QuadCore 2.4GHz. You can see just by numbers that it's FAR from equivalent.

Second, The Phenom X3 8450 (2.1GHz) as an overall performance equivalent to a Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz. This is very far from the Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz and not very far from the Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz said in minimums.

Now a Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4GHz) is still more or less unbeaten by AMD Phenoms so far.

Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870
More and more ridiculous... Seriously, the ATi 3870 can compete with an 9600GT in most of scenarios being just a bit slower, the 9600GT is about the double of the 8600GTS power... And I hope they don't think about the 8600GT here... The 7900 and 1900 "minimum" already beat them...

Seriously, how can we use these requirements if they are SO MUSH nonequivalent?

The Difference between a PC equipped with a Phenom X3 2.1GHz and a 8600GT is SO MUSH different from the Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz and a 3870 that it become a frigging joke.

OMG !!

C2D minumum ???!

C2Q recomanded ?!!!

*Ci7 for best result lol *

owned

i wander does it feature DX10 ??

edit :

what a resources hog i would says it bet Crysis

time for upgrade !

don't you mean 4 quad core cpu's for optimal results

my amd tuirion x2 1.6ghz with 2GB ram and ati radeion express 1150 xdries chip barley runs san andreads

let's face it, the bigger the sys req, the happier the hw companies.

and game devs care more about hw comp appreciation, cause they show it with money.

who cares if gamers appreciate it or not -- they're gonna spend their last bucks to upgrade and play it anyway.

they're playing on your ego, is it that hard to realise it?

I take it neither of you have seen any screenshots of GTAIV... the graphics are VASTLY improved.

they aren't taht much better. The game doesn't look any better then fallout, crysis, far cry 2 or any other AAA game coming out to PC. It just not optimized, that simple.

I'm not too knowledgeable about this stuff, but wouldn't comparing Crysis' requirements to GTA IV be a little off? I thought GTA IV would be around the same as Crysis' requirements because of all the stuff that's going on at one time (pedestrian interaction, traffic, improved draw distance, graphics, etc). It's the closest simulation to a living city today AFAIK. Crysis from what I've seen is a lot less busy in that sense.

I think it takes a quad-core processor just to comprehend your post.

i think it is best we wait till it got released and benchmark it

in different kind of computers

lol

Seriously, who comes up with these system requirements? It's always stupid. You can't compare a GeForce 8600 with a Radeon HD 3870. I won't even say anything about the CPU requirements. Anyway, from what I've read the game already looks better than the console version. I also read that it should run alright on a 3 year old system.

I guess my rig pretty much meets the reccomeneded specs, so getting a ?50 ATI 3850 wasnt so stupid after all:pp At last something to make use of all the money Ive wasted on computer hardware (currently all its getting used for is internet and office lol). Looking forward to GTA IV on PC should be pretty good me thinks. Right I'm off to buy another 1gb of OCZ Reaper HPC

so no chance of it playing on my (i guess now vintage):

AMD Athlon64 3500+ 2.21Ghz,

1GB RAM,

Windows XP SP3,

ATI Radeon 9600Pro 256mb?

*chugga chugga boom boom* :p

On a good note, its now been delayed to my birthday! :D Doubt id be able to play it for my birthday though

Additional: I just saw the 16/18GB disk space. Does anyone know how many DVD's it might be to install this thing? 2?

Image compression is now integrated into the assembly/export workflow, backed by new optimizer infrastructure, UI controls, feedback fixes, and tests. This should make PageMaster much more useful for producing smaller output PDFs directly from assembled or reorganized documents. The release also contains a large PageMaster refresh with improved drag and drop, recent files, crop pages, save/restore functionality, rotation and size indicators, a reworked icon set, and faster output preview rendering. Viewer and Editor workflows were improved with wildcard Advanced Find, Enter-to-search behavior, better outline keyboard selection, startup settings, fullscreen support, side-to-side scrolling, smoother scrolling, text selection, snapping, and expanded annotation controls. Compatibility and platform behavior were improved as well, including fixes for embedded files, fonts, checkboxes, invisible text, menu colors, highlights, XMP metadata, Windows color management, AppImage packaging, MSIX generation, installer behavior, translations, and newer compiler/Qt warnings. The commit history also includes a new scan-and-edit plugin foundation and color management performance work. • If you go to the game developer website you can see that indeed Cyril Paciullo is the game director and developer https://www.pluralys.ca/about-us/ and when clicking on his name it lists Messenger Plus! as part of his CV. In case you wondered what happened to Patchou
    • A difficult position to be in. Either they cater to us users or they cater to news curators to potentially increase traffic. Personally, I wasn't being sarcastic. Hosting a website isn't free, so without traffic this site stops existing, and if you want traffic you have to play the game. I legitimately thought the title was good. Not because I like it, but because it's the kind of title people will click on. This site needs that.
