new KB959233: Speeding up Windows Vista

Recommended Posts

wtf.

he quotes source about winxp and 2000, and even admits that for a short time indeed one core is being used.

you can post how many articles you want, i measured this two times with a bloody chronometer. it could be that my config is different, or the cpu slower, but i know for sure, it works on my machine

"For a short time during boot, it is true that only one logical processor is being used? but in this short period, systems like the clock and power management are being spun up ? a task that doesn?t necessitate more than one processor."

this tweak will not make that part of boot use more than one core though...

thanks for the explanation viper, the tweak is useless.

well i found some use for it anyway -- it prevents me from falling into a black hole for seven seconds, which usually happens while my pc boots up

I have Windows 7 and a Quad Core Processor and I have found that change did seem to speed up my computer. Boot up seems a little quicker but not a huge difference. But like I said the other performance has picked up. With few if any lagging. DJ
