Bear Grylls Injured After Antarctic Fall

i think the real issue is that all of these so called "real life" shows are edited too much to show fake drama and fake suspense. i was hoping this trend the last 10 years or so of reality tv would die off, but it's worse than ever anymore. this is the reason im always online and never watch tv.

so far the only show ive seen that is real and not fake is ghost adventures, scary stuff there.

ghost throws brick :|

Someone has.

Good, because there is little chance the weak or stupid will be able to die from bears or lions. We need a little natural population thinning, and if they will cause it themselves, no reason to really feel bad about it.

what does bear lie about on the show ? i admit some of the stuff i see is fake and staged but i don't see him telling me a load of crap either.

I'm talking about him staying over night in hotels, misleading viewers who think he actually spends all the time filming out on location in the wild, taming "wild animals" which aren't really wild etc etc.

Channel 4 even admitted to it all.

The knowledge is still correct regardless of how it's staged/presented.

How is it of any benefit to the viewing public to know he's actually stayed out during the night every time? Or to have you watch him actually spend 4 hours finding a snake to be eaten? What he is saying does work/help and educates.

For all of you giving the guy a hard time for absolutely no reason, go read his blog - http://beargrylls.blogspot.com/

He's a genuine guy, and knows what he's talking about.

If you claim fraudulent on all of what he teaches because it's setup in an experiment fashion at times to show you the results, then you are being ignorant.

If you can't get over the hurdle of understanding that a TV show is going to be in some way staged to be of benefit for the camera crew and workers, then that is your shortcoming.

But seriously, stop acting like the guy is somehow a discredit to society. Not to mention the amount done for charity - http://www.beargrylls.com/charity.html

I certainly call going throw this to get honey, "real" :p

i didn't know that, the show should be canceled then, that's misleading the audience.

Obviously I have no problem with tv shows being staged, but the viewer has the right to know when it is (Y)

That goes for everything, not just Bear Grylls.

That's what I've been saying this whole time!

Why on earth somebody feels the need to tell me to "grow up" cause I pointed that out is beyond me. They need to grow up themselves and actually bring something to the topic (Y)

100% agree

i saw that episode and i think he is an idiot for doing that, he could of died from the bee stings.

But the majority of those watching won't really care. What they do see is real. What happens off camera is of no real relevance.

Only those now getting hooked up on it, for whatever reason, are now stampeding a chariot on the guy, his work and all his life achievements claiming fraud, etc.

Contradiction much?

So the guys an idiot for actually doing things, but then his show should be cancelled when things are staged?

Well if we are gonna bring up his supposed SAS training again, apparently that's not even real :/

Anyways I don't have some vendetta against his show or him. I just said he was a liar and gave my reasons why. Channel 4 said they weren't honest and cleared things up so thats the end of that :)

I saw an episode where he was in South Dakota's badlands and had to put up with thunderstorms, rattlesnakes and other dangerous conditions.

Anyone with survival training in the United States Army can do that. :/

What?

1994-1997

Served with the British SAS (21 SAS). Passed UK Special Forces Selection, serving as a sabre soldier, trained in unarmed combat, desert and winter warfare, combat survival, medics, parachuting, signals, evasive driving, climbing and explosives. Served in North Africa twice. In late 1996 Bear broke his back in a free fall parachuting accident in southern Africa.

It was brought up in an interview for some magazine, I forget which.

Using his own website is hardly the greatest of sources when he can write whatever he wants on it.

Neither is claiming it's false with no sources at all.

Seriously man, now conspiracy theories against his own personal site and earlier life?

You really must have a massive issue with the guy, especially getting so involved over what goes on off the camera.

Channel 4 said this

"Born Survivor is not an observational documentary series but a 'how to' guide to basic survival techniques in extreme environments. The programme explicitly does not claim that presenter Bear Grylls's experience is one of unaided solo survival."

And it's true, he's a teacher of what he is saying first and foremost.

Not someone risking his life off camera just for your own pleasure. He does enough risking of it on camera in many cases. I'm sure the guy doesn't want to die and leave his family behind just over a TV show, and therefore reconstructs a lot of the scenarios yea, for his own benefit and life.

I have no problem with that, and find what is shown on camera to be entertaining and educational. Why I'd want the guy to suffer any more than necessary is beyond me - And what I mean by that is yeah, I want wants on camera, whether setup or not to be as real as possible, but when filming stops, I really couldn't care less if the guy goes and raises his chances of living. In many cases on camera he's already put himself at risk/pushed his body to extreme conditions in the first place.

One bee :|

Thats just crazy, reminds me of when he jumped in the water and wrestled the crocodile I think it was and he picked it up and slammed it against a tree...lol

Or that time he didn't get killed by a sting ray....instead he ate it. In true Bear Grylls fashion.

Call in what you like, he does still do some pretty dangerous things. Case in point; the article the OP links to.
