Bear Grylls Injured After Antarctic Fall

I said a few replies above yours I don't have anything against him, and I don't, I'm just posting things which I have read about. What's wrong with that?

All I'm saying is if he has lied about something already, whats to say their isn't more he has lied about. That's my problem and why I have issues with anyone that lies.

There's nothing wrong with questioning things in life, which is all I'm doing.

Let me say for the last time, I have nothing against his tv show or him teaching survival tips. There has been plenty of others who have done it in the past. Please stop grasping at straws and making it seem otherwise.

so am i and i don't have my own tv show. :(

I challenge you to go to your garden and live there for 2 weeks with no food or drink and film it for youtube, it will be an instant hit! :p

oh em gee...

AB, rethink your arguement please!

Your ignorance is the alarming one here as you obviously never studied history/geography in any great detail! I'm talking about thousands and thousands of years ago when survival was every day life in every part of the world. We didn't have fricking Bear Grylls and his tv show to tell us and humans made it this far!

Jeez louise..

Yeah, well, those people didn't have convenient stores on every corner of their town and hospitals a short drive away, too. You spend the majority of your time safe and sound inside of a building. I don't see how you can even compare our day to day living now to what it was thousands of years ago. Their very existence depended on going out and hunting and surviving. Ours today depends on going to the grocery store 2 miles away.

Yeah...it's truly a cold cruel world today. Not.

so am i and i don't have my own tv show. :(

You do what he does and I'll call you a beast.

I'm amazed at how many people in this topic are essentially saying "I can do that." I don't think some of you understand how difficult much of what he does is. Who cares if he stayed in hotels? Everything that they actually show him doing is all him.

I mean, here we have an article about how he was climbing a massive mountain and suffered life threatening injuries, yet some of you people are saying "I can do that." Well, when was the last time you guys were in a situation like that? Where you were even faced with the remotest possibility of life threatening injures?

Oh yeah big deal he didn't stay outside every single time he claimed he did.

You watch the shows for the knowledge and because they're interesting, not to get excited because he slept outside.

My point being it's pretty petty, the guy knows his stuff, just because he isn't always subjecting himself to what he's explaining doesn't really matter.

Survivor Man was actual legit survival. He probably stands around while the crew does half the work.

I prefer Les Stroud's show to his. Surviorman is much more realistic. Then thing is that Bear is in amazing shape, probably in the top 1%. He is able to do things and take risks that would kill or injury the other 99% of us. In addition since he is out there with a crew, he has a safety net in case things go wrong. Some of the things that he demonstrates I would never attempt in a real survival situation. Les is out there alone and must deal with any consequences of his actions. If he burns too many calories that day then he has to deal with that. Chooses to gather food rather than build a better shelter then he risks the rain.

Hope Bear makes a full recovery. Even with all it's faults his show is still better than most of the crap on TV and better than 99% of the reality TV.

Yeah man, but you made an absolute train wreck out of it challenging just about everything about the guy, starting off with bluntly calling him a fraud?!

You see enough real to know he knows what he's talking about, so I have no idea why we had to go through all the instinct talk/1000 BC lessons/geography lessons and all of that baggage.

The guy always got support from the crew, had staged events and what not, it was just never publicized on the show

“Episodes take about ten days to tape, explains Grylls: “The night stuff [shown on camera] is all done for real. But when I’m not filming I stay with the crew in some sort of base camp." Episodes now clarify when Grylls gets support from his crew and when situations are staged, “We should have done that from the start,” he says. “The more you see, the more real it feels.””

Even the other guy, Survivorman has help at hand

Man vs. Wild is similar to a competing Discovery Channel series Survivorman. In that show, however, the survival expert (Les Stroud) is not accompanied by a camera crew, but has a significant production and safety crew nearby that he communicates with at least once each day.

These people aren't trying to kill themselves, merely educate through creating lifelike scenarios, some completely 100% random and unmodified, others staged.

To actually walk away with your nose in the air strutting your feet like it somehow discredits what he's telling you as false or a lie is just daft.

If parts of it weren't staged and help wasn't at hand, it would be completely ridiculous and foolish. Why the public somehow feel "cheated" that it is, is beyond me. I see the point about being completely open irrelevant (all you should be interested in is what you see/hear), although I'm glad they now say help is at hand during this scene, or that scene, etc to keep whiners with nothing better to moan about quiet.

Anyway, that's all I need to say, it's truly saddening to see people criticizing someone in the media who's actually making a good contribution for us to enjoy (Y) Not to mention doing a load of charity work. Guy injured himself doing something for us, and all people have to do in here is become keyboard warriors on their PCs ripping him to shreds  (N)

deceit

–noun

1. the act or practice of deceiving; concealment or distortion of the truth for the purpose of misleading; duplicity; fraud; cheating

He lied, what else is there to say..

This is really going around in circles now

I'd actually pay to see Rappy do that

How long before he breaks without tv and NW do you think :p

Edit: forgot about Twitter too lol

No....not the twitter!

I have to agree with DM on this one too.

Ok, so he is SAS, likes to eat **** and sleep inside of camel carcasses. His show was created for ratings. Thats why Les Strouds show is like non existent. Les is the real deal, carrying camera cases and video equipment with him... BY HIMSELF. Bear Grylls is followed by a crew and a ton of people. Not to mention his youtube comparision videos, its clear that he is a fraud. People say how hardcore he is and how he does this and that, but in reality hes got first hand medical attention and anything he needs at the spur of any life threatening situation.

Its terrible he has gotten injured. His TV show is fake and laughable.

but in reality hes got first hand medical attention and anything he needs at the spur of any life threatening situation.

Because it would make him so much more "hardcore" if he didn't yeah?

What a bad ass he would be! It's all about death! I want people on the brink of dyeing with no help!

Man some of you crack me up, if you genuinely followed the guys work and what he does you wouldn't be so petty in your claims.

Human beings sometimes (N)

Oh and

His show was created for ratings.

Well, you know, if you want your show to stay on TV it does need to entertain and be watched.

That's the mechanic of the medium that is television broadcasting.

Part of the show is to entertain people, but being dismissive of the content due to that is just stupid and makes me wonder if some of you do watch, or just catch onto the media storm to kick up a fuss.

snipped

If Les Stroud was in a life threatening situation he wouldn't have a camera crew and a ton of people to help him, see what i'm saying? He doesn't stay in hotel rooms and doesn't film a half a mile away from civilization.

Like i said, it was created for ratings. Why do you have to reiterate that? Sorry you're sucked into his reality. Like DM said, this is going in circles and circles.

edit- And i did watch Bear's show for awhile until I saw Survivorman, even before all those facts surfaces about Bear

And your point?

It doesn't make Grylls fake, and I already posted Les Stroud makes contact with camp once a day to make sure he's okay.

The purpose is not for these guys to die, it's to educate us.

If you're striving for people to get seriously injured and be left without help you're watching the wrong type of TV.

Grylls can still get seriously hurt, but he has help to you know, save his life.

I'm not sucked into any reality, what I take in is useful information, and I get enjoyment out of being entertained.

But to call the guy out like some of you are is incredibly ignorant, and I cannot fathom where your hate comes from?

Such anger filled people just wanting to make fun of someone who is in fact a very respectable person who's achieved a lot in his life, and knows what he's talking about.

i just laughed soo hard i spit water out my nose.

now thats smooth ;)

my hate comes from all the years that i was raised by sasquatch in the hills of Idaho..He taught me how to survive by living off the land and foraging to survive...Being away from civilization all that time had a deep impact on my pyschi and i developed all that pent up hate inside...damn bear..he never held a stitch on how well the sasquatch knew how to survive out there

    • Anthropic introduces Claude Tag, a new AI teammate for Slack by Fiza Ali Anthropic has announced Claude Tag, a new feature that lets teams work with Claude directly inside Slack. The idea is simple: once Claude is added to a Slack workspace and given access to selected channels, users can tag @Claude in conversations and assign tasks. Claude can then work through those requests using connected tools and data sources before posting its results back into a Slack thread. What makes Claude Tag different from a typical chatbot is that it's designed to operate as a shared assistant for an entire team rather than a single user. Everyone in a channel interacts with the same Claude instance. This allows the team members to see ongoing work and continue tasks started by others. Furthermore, Anthropic says the AI can build context over time by following conversations in channels where it has permission to operate. This means users don't have to repeatedly provide the same background information for every request. The system is also designed for asynchronous work. Instead of waiting for responses in a chat window, users can assign a task to Claude and return later once the work is complete. Anthropic says Claude can break larger requests into multiple steps and use connected tools to complete them. Moreover, the system can also schedule follow-up tasks and continue working on projects over extended periods. Another feature allows Claude to keep the users updated and follow up on unresolved tasks when its optional "ambient" mode is enabled. The company says the tool is already being used internally for software development, data analysis, support workflows, and debugging. According to Anthropic, around 65% of its product team's code is now generated through its internal version of Claude Tag. For organisations concerned about security, administrators can control which channels, tools, and data sources Claude can access. Separate Claude instances can also be configured for different departments, helping keep information isolated between teams. Administrators can also monitor activity logs, review completed tasks, and set spending limits at both the organisation and channel level. Claude Tag is now available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers and runs on Claude Opus 4.8 that was announced this May. The feature will also replace Anthropic's existing Claude in Slack application, with current users able to migrate within a 30-day migration window. Lastly, eligible customers will receive introductory credits to help teams evaluate the new experience.
