Heroes Volume 4 : Fugitives

Recommended Posts

Here is a nice article about what to expect as far as changes and what will be different in Heroes Volume 4 Fugitives.

New Heroes writer Mark Verheiden discusses the plans for Fugitives and that both Nathan and Sylar will have new and "fun" story arcs.

We have already seen what the plan is for Nathan and other spoilers have confirmed that Sylar will be searching for his roots, mainly his REAL parents. He also confirm that both Pinehearst and Primatech are no longer "viable".

Here is that article thanks to our good friends at io9.

NBC's Heroes may have had its fair share of critics of its third season so far, but new writer/producer Mark Verheiden wants fans to know that their complaints aren't entirely falling on deaf ears.

Talking about ways in which the writers are trying to improve during the upcoming Fugitives arc, Verheiden explained that both the form and content of the series is about to change:

What we tried to do with the show as a group, people will notice that we?re not doing as many stories per show and lingering a bit on the stories we?re doing... I think in going forward what we?re probably doing is leaving some of the stuff of ?Villains? behind. You?ll see that Primatech and Pinehurst aren?t viable anymore. So those entities will be dissolved and a couple of characters have decided to, one in particular, taken a dramatic new turn that will set off where we?re going with ?Fugitives? very clearly. The Nathan character played by Adrian Pasdar, a great actor, he has some really fun and emotional turns coming in the ?Fugitives? arc. There?s also a great arc with Sylar coming up. Very fun.r coming up. Very fun.

Such changes, he explained, aren't just the result of fan complaints or network notes, but self-correction from the people working on the show. But that doesn't mean that criticism and [W]e?re not deaf. We listen to what the general drumbeat is and as we go forward, I think we?ve made some adjustments. But they were adjustments that were being made before all this stuff really came down. One thing I?ve learned after doing this for a while is that you can?t really control that sort of thing. You can just do the best you can do. That?s what I?m about, trying to do the best shows we can do. I was reading somewhere where someone suggested that, ?well they must not care about the show.? [laughs] Critique it all you want. You can have all the issues you want, but in terms of caring I?m telling you we care about the show. Not just the writers, not just the producers, the cast, the enormous crew, everyone. It?s a little absurd... You don?t stay in the office until midnight and work seven days a week and all this stuff because you?re just knocking it out... [E]verybody who?s there is killing themselves to make the best show possible. You can?t fault us for lack of trying.possible. You can?t fault us for lack of trying.

Sources close to Heroes tell me that one of the show's stars has asked to leave the show at the end of the current season, in part because of a lack of screen time.

According to insiders, NBC has not yet decided whether this actor will be released from his or her contract; however, there is an apparent "death" planned for this season (somewhere in the last few episodes) that could wipe out this character for good.

So who is it?

Well, we can't reveal the actor's name (which is why this is a blind riddle?sorry!) but I can tell you:

1. It's a series regular who's been on since season one.

2. Some of you fans would freak if this actor were to leave.

3. This particular Hero-ic soul has more name recognition than others in the cast.

4. According to Peacock-net insiders, NBC is not likely to release this actor. (See number three.)

5. If this actor does return for season four, there's an easy way to bring him or her back from the planned "death."

One of the hints is name recognition... Meaning it's one of the actors/actresses that was big before Heroes. Off the top of my head that narrows it down to Hayden Panettiere and Ali Larter. I don't know any others that I had even heard of before the show, let alone Greg Grunberg and Masi Oka. I think they're safe.

Given those two names, I would rather it be Ali Larter going, though I wouldn't miss either one.

Yeah, Ali leaving makes sense, especially since they said it would be easy to bring the actor back from their "death" because her characters were from a set of triplets. To be honest, let her go. she stopped bringing something to the show in season 1.

They won't kill Claire, and I had never heard of Ali Larter before Heroes. What was she in? According to IMDB, it was a whole bunch of crappy movies and one-offs on TV shows.

Greg Grunberg and Masi Oka have huge fan followings, and don't forget that Masi does other things besides acting. His name is much more well known than Ali Larter. And Grunberg has been in so many 'geek' shows that killing him would be a huge fan outcry.

Claire is safe, though.

The blurb definitely reads like its a male, too.

Hmmm... The only thing I'd ever seen Masi in was Scrubs as a very small part, and I didn't know his name. Greg looks familiar, but I'd also never heard his name before. Ali Larter was in Final Destination (the first one was actually pretty big, it started going downhill with the second) and she was also in the latest Resident Evil.

And I'm also hoping it's her because I don't like her at all

And I never give any credence to people using the word "actor" versus "actress" since I always hear people say "actor" for females as well. Besides, actor is the one to use if the person in question could be male or female, so it doesn't really give anything away.

I wasn't referring to the use of 'actor', just the way the whole thing reads says to me that its a male. He tried to hard to make it ambiguous.

She was in some big movies, sure, (Legally Blonde) but that doesn't mean the movies weren't crap.

And I doubt you'd have upset fans if she died. Maybe people looking for eye candy, but thats about it. The major thing I notice about her is her similarities to Jenna Jamison.

Masi is also a graphic artist, and hes done TONS of big movies. His name on Scrubs was Franklin, btw.

Greg was the pilot on Lost, and had a gigantic part on Alias. Also, Felicity (as Sean Grunberg). With him being on Heroes, Lost, and Alias, that makes him jump out when you mention fans.

Hmmm... I didn't know about Greg's previous work. Alright, well now I think it will be either Greg or Ali. I'm still hoping for Ali as I just can't stand her as an actress.

And I refuse to consider Masi because he's my favorite :p

Oh, I don't want either of them (Greg or Masi) to go. They are both terrific. But no one will give a crap if Ali dies, so thats why I don't think it can be her.

Well two things, neither Greg nor Masi should be complaining about screen time. Both got a good amount of screen time in all of the seasons. Also, what is their easy un-death? The only easy un-deaths are Peter and Clair with their healing factor and Ali with her triplet.

They might both lose screentime in Volume 4 though. Remember that just about the rest of the season is in the can already. There are easy ways to bring everyone on the show back. Remember that those with regeneration can heal others with with blood. Nathan, Noah, Arthur all came back from death or near death without having the ability directly. Though, why Arthur killed Adam instead of taking a simple blood infusion still confuses me. Having Adam on his side would have been much more effective than killing him. Especially since he was going to steal Peter's ability anyway.

Actually, Nathan's resurrection was never explained. The blood of a healing person was not seen to have been used, so we still don't know how he's still alive.

    • Microsoft fixes one of Excel Copilot's most frustrating limitations by Usama Jawad Microsoft began integrating Copilot into Excel a couple of years ago and has been upgrading it with new functionalities since then. While some changes have been controversial, Microsoft is hoping to win over users by allowing them to be more productive via Copilot. To that end, it has now announced a Copilot improvement that may actually be appreciated by people who use it regularly. Excel customers often use the Copilot prompt box to issue instructions to format and customize their data, but it can become quite tiring to keep repeating the same instructions again and again. Microsoft now allows you to define Copilot personalization rules for formatting, naming conventions, formulas, and report styles. These can be accessed via Settings > Personalization, where you can explain your rules in natural language like "Always format currency in USD with no decimals", and just let Copilot take care of the rest. Microsoft is going a step further in this direction by allowing you to set workbook rules too. These rules are stored as a .Rules sheet, and are preserved while the workbook is shared. This fosters collaboration while making sure that standard rules govern the Copilot editing experience across the organization. Other advantages of this capability include pointing it to specific examples, defining dynamic formulas, and referencing an entire sheet and asking Copilot to infer rules based on that. You can leverage this feature by opening Copilot in Excel, clicking on "+", and selecting Create workbook rules. If you have an existing .Rules sheet, you can simply start listing the rules in column A as well. Personalization features are available to all Copilot in Excel users across the web, Mac, and Windows. Meanwhile, workbook rules are currently being previewed for Windows and Mac customers on the Insiders channel. General availability is scheduled after a few weeks, but a concrete date is currently unknown. Overall, the Excel capability is quite similar to ChatGPT's memory features, which allow you to permanently store items in the AI model's context window.
    • Imagine you still haven't discovered Total Commander that is doing all those things for three decades already...
    • This sounds like underneath the nice marketing spin, either someone at Adobe got tired of their lazy devs and asked Microsoft to help them sort at least some of Adobe's ancestral spaghetti code to make it go faster, or Microsoft wanted Adobe's crap to run better on Windows to make it look better when compared to Apple, so they offered to intervene. Either way, GOOD.
    • My favorite file manager for Windows 11 finally gets a long-requested feature by Taras Buria Files is among the best File Explorer alternatives for Windows 10 and 11. This free app is packed with all sorts of features and conveniences, but there is one crucial feature that is still missing—Tree View. Fortunately, the latest update in the Preview channel finally delivers it. With version 4.1.4, which is now available for download in the Preview channel, developers implemented Tree View, a new mode that displays folders in an expandable hierarchy. Windows 11's stock File Explorer always had this feature, but it was nowhere to be found in Files until now. Starting with the latest preview update, you can expand each drive and its nested folders without leaving the current location and then open the folder you need in the main view. To try Tree View in Files, update the app to the latest preview version, then click the small arrow next to a drive to expand its content. The developers say they are rolling out Tree View in Preview first to gather feedback from users and improve the feature before bringing it to all in the stable channel. In addition to Tree View, Files 4.1.14 improves the Windows Fonts folder. You can now preview each font directly in Files with no need to open the built-in font viewer. For now, these two features are only available in the Preview channel. For those using the stable release, developers recently released version 4.1.3, with improvements for the built-in tag system, on-demand folder size calculation, and plenty of various fixes. You can check out the full release notes here. You can download Files from the Microsoft Store (paid version) or its official website (free).
    • Who is paying for this 30x scale-up? Its sounds expensive.
