ermmm whats the bug? if its the 4.55MB then ithink its adding up all the files and stuff together aint it? and excluding the folder?

Ah, yes. I think you might be right infact, the contents of C:\Windows in 7 is ~4.5MB.

In XP it adds up the contents of the subfolders too, I guess they changed that in 7 (as in XP it takes a while for the tooltip to appear)

I guess I expected the c:\windows folder to be a lot larger than 4.5mb :p

It doesn't seem to be a bug after all then

Was installing Flash CS3 and the screen started blinking like crazy. Everything was still running fine but I could barely see the desktop it was blinking so fast, so I had to do a hard shut down. No errors in the event log either. Weird. Most likely an issue with the display driver.

My taskbar items stay highlighted after moving my mouse and it gives the names like your cursor is above them ... strange.

And sometimes, with some programs , my taskbar items start to blink or a parts of it disapear . When I try to create a picture of the problem, after pasting it to paint, it shows like it was rendered correctly !!!

You do know that in your screenshot, the tooltip actually says "Size: larger than 4.55MB" right? That could mean any number above 4.55MB. It could even mean 2.2GB... :D

Why are half the people in this thread posting about firewalls, winamp and god knows what else. Guys, post about OS bugs, not 3rd party apps, seriously? -> developers haven't even touched 7 yet, and people are already whining about compatibility problems with outdated software on a Beta OS they picked up from a torrent site and used a crack on.....

Here, found another one....

This appears to affect .exe files only, cuz other show the "open" icon normally....

Confirmed. I thought at first it might be because you're using Aero Basic but it occurs with the full theme as well. I'm kinda surprised to see such an ommission after so much effort has been done to get rid of the old references.

I've found one bug that seems to be from the new Direct3D/DirectX11 I think, if I play a video full screen or upsized in VLC, Media Player Classic, the video seems to enlarge the pixels in a manor that results in sort of square uneven lines being shown, however Windows Media Player is fine.

Probably a software bug because Windows Media Player is fine, just thought I would throw it out there.

VLC: http://i40.tinypic.com/ipb69k.png - you will notice around his hat the lines are unsmoothed and sort of "boxy".

WMP: http://i43.tinypic.com/5znuyx.png - picture looks as it should upsized, smooth lines around the hat unlike VLC, and MPC.

I've came a cross a problem. Every now and then explorer hangs. When it does I cannot shutdown the pc and have to force shut it down. When I restart it is all back to normal.

Have anyone came across this problem too?

Does anyone of you have a clue what can trigger this?

WOW ... who would of thought a "beta" would have bugs ? go figure ! ;)

Apparently the people posting in this threat thought a beta would have bugs. I would assume that Microsoft reads these forums and or developers and it could be some help when people say something about bugs or what they think are bugs that they have found.

Exactly... I don't think anyone was complaining about the bugs here, just reporting them.

Try monkeying with the advanced power settings, or just changing it to performance mode before starting the video. It seems that ATi drivers now have a feature to use poor video scaling in power saving mode (or balanced if unplugged if memory serves).

a few hours ago i was copieng some files from my hard drive to my external HD and half way the process my disk drive suddenly opens and i get a notifcation saying to insert the next medium, closed it without putting anything in it and the rest copied fine, there was enough space left anywhay

I dont know if this was mentioned before but...

When you delete something and minimize the windows explorer to click on "Empty Recycle Bin" you wont get choise "YES" and "NO". I was suprised that it didnt show and recycle was not empty.

I suprised my self when i maximize the windows explorer then with it pop up choise "YES" and "NO".

It should pop up immidietly after i click to Emtpy it. Independent to Window explorer. Same thing happens with Show Desktop button.

Don't know if i'd consider this a bug but i found it strange if not just a little amusing.

If your running the new live messenger beta which shows the two thumbnails when hovering over the superbar button (which i love because it shows me so quickly what account i'm logged in to), if you then windows key+tab all the windows cycle round including a little one of your avatar hahah

well it amused me at least :p

I really cant tell how it happens, but its here... the tooltip doesnt correctly display the info about objects size.... Sometimes it does correctly, but sometimes it doesnt, its simply random... Refresh doesnt help.... so its just like this, i really dunno...

Dont think that first to examples are same, the name is same, but the file's size is different in each example... The file's true size is displayed correctly on the right via "rightclick+properties"

    • Nice rant! Expletive after expletive after expletive. Poor petal, I've touched a nerve. Would you like a tissue to wipe those tears away. Btw, nice one calling Neowin trash. Why would you stick around when you disrespect this site and the people behind it? Just go away if you feel that way.

    • This is of course "clickbait" WTF? It is literally your example but tech based. A "clickbait" title is a sensationalized headline designed to manipulate readers into clicking a link using things like "fear" rather than delivering objective facts. A "clickbait" headline also usually provides little value compared to the hype generated. How does this headline not qualify? It's a generic often reused headline that is overly sensationalized. Oh no! "millions" can't use this app anymore. It has no basic facts like what f*cking app. You read the article and it's the Samsung VPN which no one cares about and there is a million free VPNs. How are you defending this ######? Headlines like this (and among other things) make me read Neowin much less than I used to in the past. It's trash...
