I played a bit of MP with my friend today and we got slaughtered by the Eldar's tier 2 unit. It's the gigantic walking Eldar warrior. I believe it was called a Wraithlord. Anyway, my friend and I decided to play some 2p maps for now. That way, we can hone our skills without worrying about imminent defeat.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II Free DLC Coming

August 28, 2009, 4:39 pm - Valve - General Announcement

Coming in October, THQ will be releasing free DLC for Warhammer? 40,000?: Dawn of War? II, wich will feature a new cooperative multiplayer game mode and maps. Check out the Last Stand announcement trailer for a tease at the upcoming game mode.

The Last Stand is a cooperative survival mode that gives gamers control of an individual hero unit and drops a small multiplayer team into a battle with impossible odds. Players can choose between a Space Marine Captain, Eldar Farseer or Ork Mekboy and will team up with two other squad-mates in an attempt to hold out as long as possible against wave after wave of relentless attackers. Hero units level up and are fully customizable as new armor and weapons become available from game to game. Working together to devise innovative strategies is the key to success in this brand-new battle mode.

The Last Stand update, which will be free, also contains two new multiplayer maps, balance updates and bug fixes for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II.

But why wait until October to get into Dawn of War 2? Buy it now as part of the THQ Collector pack, on sale for an additional 25% off the already awesome package price this weekend only.

Looks like you beat me to it, trag3dy. The more DLC, the better!

Ok I'm a total multiplayer novice here - can I add additional units to a squad of marines? 3 dudes + sarge seems too few to me!

Unfortunately, you can't change the number of units for each respective squad.

Unfortunately, you can't change the number of units for each respective squad.

Really? That's odd as I thought they were trying to keep close to the tabletop version, which allows for much larger squads. The most difficulty I'm having with DoW2 multiplayer is controlling 5 or more squads at a time! How do you guys do it? I've tried grouping multiple squads together, but that just made it trickier to reach each squads special abilities

Also, is there a shortcut command to add a squad to a hotkey, rather than overwrite the squad already bound to that hokey?

Last Stand is a lot of fun. I just finished playing it non-stop for half an hour. My friend and I plus a random player couldn't get past the 9th wave. It was just damn near impossible.

Keys to passing 9th wave:

Teleporting Ork - just jump around and kill lol.

All three go to one corner (where the spawns happen) and wait for everyone to come in. Use the ork's mega-something that shakes everything, and then use the eldar's swirling power (whatever is called).

No idea how to pass the 10th wave though.

There are two videos with some information about the expansion released just a week ago.

But regarding the price, I guess we have to live with expansions being a bit pricy. They make them stand-alone to attract new players but keep the price high. It's not a new phenomenon, and I think earlier CoH expansions was the same. And other companies has also picked up the stand-alone expansion model.

    • I'm still rocking iOS 25.x on my primary phone cuz iOS 26 still has usability quirks (mostly aesthetic and thus its UX) which I don't wanna deal with -- and I've been piloting them with all of these updates on my backup phone, so I'm well aware of its "improvements" since iOS 26 was first released (compared to version 26.5.x).
