[Official] Killzone 2

As long as your team actually pays attention to what game type they are supposed to be playing.

PSN is full of n00bs, which I've found out a lot the past 24hrs. The VIP's in Assassination have never heard of the word "cover" before (N)

haha most the guys in my team thought the best way to defend themselves in VIP was to run head first into battle...

Standing RIGHT next to a guy, pumping his body full of lead, seeing the blood spray every where and having him turn around like nothing ever happened and shoot me like two times and killing me - Fail.

Millions of turrets everywhere, placed in hard-to-get-to places and when you finally decide to do an attack on them, you realise the explosion from the turrent kills you and says you commit suicide - Fail. ( Overpowered p.o.s )

Grenade spam every-****ing-where, from both grenade launchers and thrown grenades. All you hear is "Blip, blip, blip" constantly and even the freaking turrets says "blip" just to keep you on your toes or what?! - Fail.

Running around people for a minute straight in some sorta cowboy dance trying to kill them and they are trying to kill you, finally you end up getting some lucky melee punch killing him - Fail.

Invisible walls, located between beams and openings that will absorb your bullets without any indication or sparks flying off the invisible wall - Double Fail.

The number of bullets it takes to kill people ( Personal gripe with most games these days ) - Fail.

Not being able to hear what the hell people are saying due to the brilliant BT technology - Fail.

Selecting me to be the assassination target 6 times in a row, every time we hit an assassination match - Fail.

Playing in a room full of Danes and every one being annoyed and frustrated with the game - Fail.

My hands being totally cramped up because of the ****ty DS3 - Tripple ****ING FAIL!.

To sum up, just had a game with a bunch of Danes I knew from various communities and Live, there was laughs and a relaxed atmosphere and yet the game managed to annoy.

Yay (Y)

The problem with the Assassination mode is that the game doesn't really make you aware that you're the target, unless you're actually paying close attention to the HUD. Unfortunately, not everybody does and as a result we usually find the target at the front of a fire fight

It's something they need to address.

It even says "You are the target", if a HUD notice and a voice-over doesn't cut it, perhaps people need to be smacked in the face ... with a 2 x 4.

I know, but like I said the majority of people aren't paying attention. Either that or they aren't aware of what the game mode entails. I guess PSN is just full of newbies :p

I will be on in like 10 or 15 minutes for an hour or so. Have to drive my wife to dinner so she can drink, come home then I have about 2-3 hours.

Regardless of the details will be on in like 10-15 minutes.

DL I will join you but one problem I don't have a mic yet. Although I do have an idea, start up the 360 go into a party and use the 360 mics?

A 7:15 EST US (which I think is 12:15 for most of you guys) I am going to create a game for everyone to join. Does this sounds good?

That is in almost exactly 90 minutes.

Sound like a plan?

Because this not being able to join easily with people is really starting to suck, and I want to play with everyone.

if anything we can play against each other if we have enough people, which I know for sure I will have at least 4 of us Americans on.

Let me know.

Why so seriiious? Hahahahaha........I just had to say that even though it's overplayed.

Should be playing for a good two to three hours.

If you're counting me as one of the 4, make that 3. I'll be on after 8PM EST.

I really love the MP aspect of this game. On the huge maps, you really get a feel for what it would be like to be in a big battle. Just had a game with some NW people and I really enjoyed it. Going to get myself a USB headset so I can speak with people as I play.

Best Multiplayer since COD4 for me.

Yeah, definitely had a really good time just now all. I have to maybe play with some of the server settings and raise the count up some perhaps, but I did the 20 players to try and keep the lag down to a minimum since we are all spread out across the globe, and it appeared to have worked as it was fairly lag free, a very little for me here and there.

So continue to keep playing, it looks like it just leaves the server running which is cool as I thought it might close it when I quit but then I remembered it was dedicated servers.

Really starting to like it and I personally realized tonight, at least for my playing style, it is more about being slow and tactical than anything else and taking my time. Not playing trying to match the frenzied firefights that are happening if that makes sense.

Hopefully my wife lets me back on. (Y) If not I may jump on earlier tomorrow afternoon if possible. game is starting to grow on me for sure.

You guys left and we totally got our asses handed to us.

0-7

Epic fail for the INS clan, lol.

I think it is very safe to say most of us are still getting used to the controls themselves.

And that leads me to this rant...

THE DAMN CONTROLS

For me, they are less than ideal just as a few people have already stated in this thread, but I am confident I will definitely learn them sooner than later. I also feel once I do, I'll feel completely fine using them so while I definitely currently do not like them, I will like them sooner than later, so they are not a huge issue for me right now. While playing, I definitely heard more than several people grumbling about not liking the controls and honestly questioning if they would ever get used to them.

Someone mentioned it before in the thread and I thought it was a very good observation. I agree and think the people who are having the most issues with the controls are in more cases than not people who primarily have only used the 360 the past few years. Do not get me wrong, I think there can also be people who hate the controls just because they are extremely limited and not ideal. No doubt about it they are easy to dislike.. However if you come into using the controls not really using the PS3 much over the past 3 years, it definitely makes them that much more frustrating to use IMO.

I still stick to what I said before though, I really think it grew on me tonight and am looking forward to playing more, maybe even later tonight when my wife falls asleep.

Oh one last thing, I definitely do not think I will be ranking up as fast as Munky did, he is some sort of freak of nature with First Person Shooters I think. :p

well it's not that bad.. I'm now used to the R1 to shoot. One thing I don't like is the sprint where you have to click in the left joystick. oh and also to mention I do not like the sensitivity of the joysticks..... sometimes it's moving just too fast.. :s Otherwise, I'm now used to the control.

    • Researchers claim Microsoft's quantum breakthrough is flawed by basic Python errors by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft's aggressive roadmap to deliver a commercial quantum supercomputer by 2029 has now hit a bit of a snag, and it's not because of a complex sub-zero dilution refrigerator, but rather because of a few lines of basic Python code. A new critique published in the scientific journal Nature argues that simple software errors effectively manufactured the breakthrough that Microsoft's foundational research claimed back in 2025 into Majorana-based topological qubits. Topological quantum computing, the path that Microsoft chose for its research, relies on creating and controlling "Majorana zero modes." These are exotic quasiparticles that theoretically offer vastly superior error resistance compared to the highly sensitive superconducting qubits currently being championed by rivals like Google and IBM. However, physically proving you have created these particles requires sifting through massive amounts of complex electrical conductance data to isolate a specific "topological gap." Because of the sheer volume of data, physicists rely heavily on custom software pipelines to process the results. This is where the Python scripts come in. Now, according to the critique, Microsoft’s data processing software contained fundamental programming errors that ultimately skewed the published results. By mishandling data arrays or deploying incorrect logic within the Python script, the software supposedly discarded "noisy" or contradictory data. Which is why it only highlighted the specific electrical measurements that supported the topological-gap claim. The researchers behind the critique argued that this makes the findings invalid, suggesting the heralded "quantum leap" was actually a false positive generated by bad code and not a product of groundbreaking physics. However, Microsoft is pushing back hard against these allegations. The Redmond giant has formally rejected the criticism, saying that it's just a minor anomaly rather than a fatal flaw. According to the company, while there may have been a minor oversight in the data parsing scripts, it does not alter the fundamental reality of their physical experiment. Just weeks ago, Microsoft unveiled the Majorana 2 quantum processor, a milestone so significant that the company boldly accelerated its timeline for a commercial quantum supercomputer from 2035 down to 2029. But the new software allegations reopen an old wound. Microsoft's quantum division faced a remarkably similar crisis when a landmark 2018 paper on Majorana particles was famously retracted in 2021 after independent physicists discovered the data had been inappropriately cropped. That historical baggage makes the current Python-related allegations particularly sensitive. If the foundational math and data processing for the 2025 breakthrough are genuinely flawed, the highly anticipated 2029 commercial timeline could easily be delayed or, worse, cancelled.

    • AMD releases hotfix for driver install issues on Windows 10 PCs by Taras Buria Earlier this week, AMD released an important graphics driver update. Version 26.6.2 brought AMD FSR 4.1 support to the previous-gen Radeon lineup, the RX 7000 series, giving users better upscaling tech that was previously locked to the newest GPUs. However, the driver turned out to be a little buggy, with users reporting installation issues on systems still running Windows 10. AMD quickly acknowledged the bug and today released a hotfix to resolve the problem. The AMD 26.6.3 Hotfix update is now available for download from the official website. Given that it is a hotfix release, it has only one change in its release notes: AMD announced the update on its official X account and added that a WHQL driver update with the necessary fixes would be released next week. Meanwhile, users can apply the hotfix or roll back to the previous driver using the official AMD Cleanup Utility. You can download AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.3 Hotfix Preview Driver from the official website here. It is compatible with all currently supported graphics cards and 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. Full release notes are available on the same page.
    • With Microsoft now listening to its core audience and acting upon received feedback, fans can finally expect a much better version of Windows 11 than what was available five years ago. Here is to five more years, Windows 11! I guess we all need a good laugh now and again...
