[Official] Killzone 2

Yeah, I find that you have a circular dead zone of around 30 degrees of tilt on the sticks before anything happens. Then when you move beyond that it moves too fast.

It seems easier to get around this by moving your character rather than the gun.

EXACTLY, that is one of the biggest problems with the PS3 controller(s), that's why they suck so hard at FPS game - The acceleration in most games is beyond messed up. You can tilt the stick, it'll move at a set pace, tilt it some more and nothing really happens, tilt it yet some more and WHAM you turned too far. It sucks so hard.

People who don't notice these things are usually those casual players who usually go around sucking the floor and are just "playing to have fun".

I thought controls were gonna be my biggest gripe (and I have no troubles using the DS3, don't turn this into me being primarily a 360 gamer. FPS is my genre as it is Mike's) but there is quite a lot wrong with the game, for one the terrible ranking system, nevermind its so bloody standard and boring.

I'm not too fond of it, I enjoyed Rainbow Six: Vegas and Call of Duty 4, those were my big things back then.

Can not fault you with those two games. The game is just very polished and fun to play, it plays a lot different to COD4 but most people already know that.

It would probably be fun to play if the controls were a lot more snappy. There's a reason why people still play games like Counter-strike today, the spot-on, sharp controls has definitely got a lot to do with it. Exactly the same with Call of Duty 4, super smooth gameplay combined with sharp and precise controls. I keep hearing we can't compare it to Call of Duty 4, why can't we compare it to a game with some of the most spot-on and sharp controls in a long time, is that too much to ask from a PS3 game or what? Some developers just fail to realise how important a proper control scheme is and some working, sharp and spot-on controls. A mediocre game can go from "so-so" to "great" by having polished controls. Same can be said the other way around, a great game can get dragged down to a "meh" level.

This entire situation is only made worse by software level control problems and hardware level ( The DS3 ), it's really unfortunate.

And yes, I will keep going on and on about these controls because it has killed the game for me, most of the 'skilled' players I know, for lack of a less elitist term, are extremely unhappy with Killzone 2 as a one of those games you would bother 'getting good at'.

People keep talking about how polished this game is, I disagree wholeheartedly - This game is really rough around the edges.

Sethos just ditch the game and play COD then, or wait on COD MW2.

They purposely choose a different feel to the controls than other games, for better or worse, if that means a sale lost from you so be it. That's why people keep saying stop comparing it to COD, it's not like they tried to emulate COD and got it wrong, it was purposely done. Just sell the game and move on. You've already told us how you hate class based MP also, that part definitely isn't changing at all.

GG already said any changes made to controls won't be big, so really, if you can get ?50 for it it would be stupid to keep it if you hate it as much as you're making out.

Disappointing for you your (first?:pp) anticipated PS3 FPS didn't deliver, but what can you do.

By the way, veteran is really ****ing hard for me, keep getting killed:laugh::

I like how out of the norm in this context is bad controls. Are they looking to create slow more tactical oriented controls, why not do it properly? Rainbow Six: Vegas should be a nice guide string to follow - Extremely slow and tactical minded controls but they were spot on and working. This just seems like developers who couldn't hit the 'sweet spot', tried and tried, gave up and are now just putting up a stone wall. I hope they catch a lot more flack of this. As seen in comments, even news sites are commenting on the controls now and they aren't exactly positive.

Dude, how long has the game been out for? ...... yeah, I thought so.

Yeah, why should people apply common sense and carry over experience like teamwork and communication from other First Person Shooters - Let's give them a few months to get their asses in gear.

Sort it out then. I think Andy is bored already

As the owner of Insomniacs he said he wants all decisions to be discussed first, which is the best way to do things, but if he is giving up on the game it will be a bit hard to run Insomniacs :p Don't think he is but.

Well I think Munky and Sethos own Insomniacs, but it certainly doesn't look like Sethos is going to want to have anything to do with the KZ2 side of the clan. Of course that's an assumption, sorry if I'm wrong.

As a general I think I can arrange games as well as invite, I know I can definitely invite. So if you guys want we should try getting a few games lined up for this week/weekend - Even if we lose, who cares, gotta start somewhere with the clan.

Some practice in a locked room (no sick jokes :p) would be good as well, just for members.

By the way securing Visari square was pretty awesome! At first I just went up the ladders and took the sniper rifle to pick people off. How awesome is the sniper rifle?! It seems 5x zoom doesn't work in SP either until you unlock it in MP? :/

It was pretty damn hard on veteran though, died a few times.

Spoilers above are from early in the game, you've probably all well passed that section :p

tatical? yes it is, but it is also can be played as a run and gun game.. lol. I don't really see any taticalness when running towards the enemy full force, guns blazing while trying to take over the area. lol. At least, that's what I've seen.
