A few more random shots before I get some shut-eye, anyone feel free to let me know if there's certain units, places, events you'd like to see and I'll snap a few screenshots.

The game is smooth as butter! Everything set to "Very High", resolution cranked up to 1920x1200x32, Post Processing at Medium ( Very high looks too blurry ) yet I have no idea what my Anti-Aliasing settings are, my German skills failed me at that so have no idea whether it's even in the options menu or not. I can't believe how great the game looks and runs, some of the scenes easily look better than Crysis when you combine the huge terrain, the view distance and the atmosphere of the places, then the game is drop-dead gorgeous.

I mostly played around the Mission Editor which is pretty much where I spent all my time in previous Bohemia Interactive games. I just love to create my own battles, watching them play out and just being part of that combat atmosphere. The editor hasn't changed much at all, everything is pretty much the same as in ArmA and they buttons, keys and unit placement within the menus are exactly the same as before, so any ArmA player should feel right at home.

I briefly tried Multiplayer where I got an even bigger surprise, it's actually a ton of fun, even those little urban combat matches. In previous games, urban combat wasn't very sought after due to the engines horrible handling of collision and buildings, you would fall through floors, stairs and ledges, you could also walk through some doors and walls - So an unpredictable experience at best. They finally got a proper collision system added so there is NONE of that any more, everything is solid and glitch-free ( From what I could tell ), which made it a great experience. Plus, we played a night-mission which is usually a pretty 'meh' experience in old ArmA but now the moon and stars actually provide this almost eery feeling which is just amazing! So no need to walk around with Night-vision constantly. Also tiny fixes like reloading on the move speeds up the game, makes it more fluid.

Oh and they also fixed the lights from vehicles in the game, now you don't have this weird texturemap lag, you actually have a cone of light that lights up everything in front of it, the "lightmap" doesn't go under the car or lights up areas in huge squares and triangles ( ArmA veterans know what I mean ). I could go on and on about this game all day, any self-respecting ArmA player will love this like a child of their own and any new-comers should feel more comfortable and not having to raise eye-brows over the good ole' VBS engine flaws ( Some are still present but most of them are gone ).

I just need to point out the atmosphere of the game again, the sounds, the new lighting system and the vastness of the game is beyond this world, it'll even give STALKER a run for its money on pure atmospheric feel ( Okay, not all people might agree with me on STALKER but those that do knows what kinda goosebumps inducing effect that game could have ).

My excitement for this game was very high yet my expectations were pretty low, I was just expecting a polished and updated ArmA but the game is so much more than that!

I'll try and install FRAPS later for a sea of screenshots.

Wow. I think I might actually buy the game. Thanks for posting the screenshots. They look amazing!

did the english file work?? i havent got it yet..still at work for another hour :(

It "works" as in, some things are translated. Like, half the menus are English, unit names and In-game information ( Weapon ROF etc. ) I think they need to release an updated file :p

Honestly, I think it's just an ArmA 1 addon, because some of those actually work in ArmA 2 and it would certainly explain why the translations are so random.

First off, the 1.01 patch for the German version has been released. As some of you may know, the German version is actually an older build, so they are currently patching it up to 'final' build. The English versions will be final builds out of the box. German beta testers FTW :laugh:

And here's a few more screenshots I took;

Hmmm, I do remember the animations being pretty poor when it came to weapon handling, they look very solid now.

Here's a screenshot of a Russian soldier holding an RPG-7;

RPG-18; ( It's not the LAW but they do look similar )

Huh, didn't know Localhostr had a Bandwidth limit - Some of my photos are hitting the 1GB roof.

Here's a few more for viewing pleasure. Yeah, can't help myself, hopefully someone enjoys them :p

The helicopters have gotten a bit more 'mass' to make them feel heavier and more precise which is a welcome change. The same with the airplanes, yet they still have that odd twitchy feel from ArmA / Operation Flashpoint. I know from previous conversations your feelings on the subject but for 'vet' pilots, it's great they kept the feel of the helicopters and just tweaked them slightly.

As for the planes, I will agree with anyone calling their handling crap because it is. Feels nothing like a plane, they are twitchy, unrealistic and can pull some weird stunts plus the jets are just too fast and traverse the map in no time. So I just stay well clear of them just as I did in Operation Flashpoint and ArmA and stick to everything else.

Yes, the 'Post Processing' tab should take of that. First time I played the game, I had that one on 'Very High' and was almost blinded by light at every corner. Turned it down to 'High' and it looks okay now, for further toning down you could just go lower. In case there's anything you want me to screenshot, let me know - Would be more fun to have a goal when taking pictures instead of all these random shots :laugh:

I'd love to see some tank screenshots. That'd be great. Thanks in advance! You know what, I also want to see some jets (interior and exterior). And some helicopters too. Is that enough purposefulness for you? :D

That water looks great, do you still lose your gear when swimming?

I don't recall losing any gear in Armed Assault when you swam, is it a bug you are referring to? As for Armed Assault 2, I still kept my gear when I came out of the water ... exactly like ArmA 1.

I'd love to see some tank screenshots. That'd be great. Thanks in advance! You know what, I also want to see some jets (interior and exterior). And some helicopters too. Is that enough purposefulness for you? :D

I wanted to do a few'cinematic' shots as well and they turned out pretty ... crap :laugh: Some of them has a bit extra blur, that's because I'm running towards them ( Head shake and all that ). For obvious reasons I left out quite a few units and the various camo / versions.

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
